Very simple question.
I want everyone to think about this before they post in this thread.
Remember PES3,4,5 was the AI ever that bad in those games? would defenders move away from attackers on a regular basis to allow the one on one, would the GK run towards a shot going about 10 yards wide well wide so they can deliberately palm it into the path of the CPU AI striker?
Why the fuck is the AI worse than the PS2 versions, that's fucking madness.
Of course the AI always cheats in many games, but in PES2010 its madness im sick of it happening EVERY SINGLE GAME, the CPU is not respecting player stats, i was 2-0 up last night and in the 89th min the CPU AI controlled striker for ALMERIA, does a left footed volley which goes in the near post, FERNANDO TORRES COULDN'T DO THAT IN 10 ATTEMPTS IN TRAINING.. let alone some nobody doing it in a real match. It ruins the game and makes your track record stats look stupid.
This is why I did not complain that much about stupid AI in PES10 and FIFA10, nor will I complain about stupid or "smart" AI when I play PES11.
All PES games and FIFA game are extremely easy, and for me, they have never been a challenge.... just a way of entertainment; but PES5 was one of the dumbest video games I've played, slow and easy and rather obvious, too easy for me.
I cannot complain about dumb AI in PES10 when I think the AI was just as dumb in PES5.
This argument of stupid AI and dumb AI is redundant as far as I'm concerned. You say why? Well, the reasons are there for all to see.
If you expect to have PES11 passing and graphics with PES5 arcade AI on a current gen console, it's never going to happen; what you consider "smart" AI, it's not going to happen any time soon on a current gen console.
The STATS are still in control, if the COM respected the STATS, the game would be too easy and predictable; and you would be complaining about how easy it is.
The COM respects the STATS when you do not play on Top Difficulty, which is why the game is too easy and too boring when you do not play it on Top Difficulty.
PES has always been the same, one difficulty is too easy, the other difficulty makes the game even more dumb and as a consequence more difficult to play; either way, the game is always easy and dumb regardless of the difficulty.
This has always been the case with PES and FIFA, so I really cannot complain about it, it has always been a dumb game; comparing PES11 with PES5 is a redundant argument, same old pointless rant, of people asking for "smarter" AI.
If you want the COM to respect the STATS, then don't play it on Top Difficulty... because the AI has never really respected the STATS in Top Difficulty.
I agree that the AI is dumb, but I fully disagree that the AI was smarter in PES5; PES5 is hugely overrated, decent for its time, but a shit game with response issues if you test it today.
You said that FIFA09 had something about it, yet that game is one of the easiest football sims to date; a dumb concept with "smart" AI, which resulted in the game being too easy and lacking depth.
Complaining about dumb AI when the foundation of the game is dumb, is truly redundant or subjective; the AI should not be a priority when the foundation on which it stands is outdated and dumb.
Konami and EA Sports have added bells and whistles to the same old formula, nothing else and nothing more, the core issues will move from one area to another.

The most disappointing thing for me, is that simple features which would make the game twice as fun and twice as substantial, are ignored.
And I'm really not expecting the COM to provide a challenge, because the concept is dumb, and Konami does nothing to improve the concept.
So the really disappointing thing for me, is the lack of "tools" which have been implemented into the game, so that the user can use them, and thus make human vs human play more challenging and substantial.
No, instead, human vs human gameplay is restricted by the limitations of the dumb COMPUTER.
In PES10 you can do some cool things with the L2 STRATEGIES, but it is easier to score goals without ever utilizing your brain; when you actually try to think about what you do, PES10 is more difficult and more boring to play.
The L2 STRATEGIES could have been better, Konami designed and produced the video game, so I am under the impression that Konami is aware of the range of things which can be done with the L2 STRATEGIES, and also, the range of things which could be possible by improving on the L2 STRATEGIES; and yet, Konami continues ignoring the substantial.
That's the thing that really disappoints me, that these video games basically play by themselves; when we could easily dictate our own script.
We did have the L2 STRATEGIES, and the potential was there for all to see, and yet Konami and EA Sports continue ignoring the substantial and continue releasing automatic and superficial video games.
The L2 STRATEGIES ignored the capacity of the COM, the COM was no smart enough to know how and when to use the L2 STRATEGIES; and yet, the L2 STRATEGIES were eliminated in PES11.
That says a lot about Konami's intentions. They do not want a game which revolves around "freedom" -- they want a video game which revolves around the restrictions of the COM, superficial, dumb, insubstantial, and yet people seem to love it.
This has always been the case, and I continue moaning about it.
The tools are already there, fucking change how the game is played, stop adding bells and whistles which revolve around the restrictions of a COM, and start adding bells and whistles which ignore the capacity of the COM or AI and instead embrace the superior mind of a human being.
Like CHESS, you create the script, the concept revolves around the human mind, the concept does not revolves around the limitations of a dumb COM or AI; and when the concept is smart, the AI can make a difference, because the AI is dictated by a human mind, the AI is not dictated by STATS that work automatically, STATS that work on their own without the input if the human user.
And that's the bottom line for me, regarding PES and FIFA; unlike a CHESS game, where the AI is really challenging; PES and FIFA are automatic and scripted, the user does not really feels like he is using the STATS to his favorm insteadm the user feels like the STATS do the work on their own....
And when this happens, stupid AI or smart AI is redundant, because the game is dumb at its very core, where it matters the most. And how do you make a dumb and automatic video game more challenging? How do you wmake a game that revolves around COM dictated restrictions... more challenging?
Simple, you cheat............... Has always been the case, still is the case, because the game is still and automatic STAT driven video game.
In CHESS, the player uses the STATS to his advantage, and as a result, skill is a major player in CHESS; yet the STATS are always respected in CHESS, you cannot cheat your way around the stats.
In PES and FIFA, the STATS work automatically, they work on their own, the game works automatically; and as a result, the higher the difficulty, the more the AI cheats.... because that's the only thing the AI can do to make the experience more challenging for the user.
PES and FIFA revolve around the restrictions of an outdated COM dictated concept, PES and FIFA do not revolve around the freedom of a next gen USER dictated concept.
It does not allows freedom for the human mind to dictate or determine the outcome of every game, the human mind simply follows the script as dictated by the STATS and other automatic factors.
The only way the AI will ever be challenging is by changing the core concept; if the foundation is smart, the AI can be challenging without cheating as much; if the foundation is dumb, the AI can only be challenging by cheating and making a dumb game more difficult than it should be.
Back in PES5 the AI was not challenging, the AI cheated, and it still was very easy to outplay the cheating AI every single time because the game was very dumb and easy.
