Chips Can Cause Problems With The Ps2 Bios If They Are Fitted To A Version Of The Ps2 That Is Not Compatible With Them... So Yes There Is A Danger And Plus U Can Forget Warranties With Sony Coz They Go Out The Window Too.... I Wouldnt Get My Ps2 Chipped... The Only Thing I Would Do Is Get The Flip Lip Modification Or The Slide Card And Swap Discs As These Seem Better Solutions To Playing Patched Ps2 Games...

Good point there with the different versions of console and chip, but not correct though

, or I should better say not quite complete. As most of us know there are a lot of different PS2 models. Eg mine is V3. And there are different versions of chips, so you have to find a chip which fits into your console. If you install a chip created only for V3 in a V9 the console wouldn´t get damaged, the chip simply wouldn´t work. But normally that´s not a problem because, like I said on page 1 of this thread, you shouldn´t do it for yourself if you´re not experienced in these things, so what you do is to sent your console to a game-shop, and they find automatically the best chip for your model. Also, like I said, you get normally 1 or 2 years warranty from the game-shop, if your console gets damaged within this period without your fault then you get it repaired for free. It´s a standard-service, nothing special. I know a little bit about these things coz I know a lot of people who are working at www.gametop.de, the worlds biggest chipping-shop.
As an alternative to chipping, which is expensive, I would take the flip top, but NEVER the slide card, it´s just a piece of shit, nothing more, the slide card is the real console-killer, gametop.de receives consoles which were damaged by the slide card every day for repairing, mostly the CD tray is damaged, sometimes even the laser. Plus the slide card uses only the old knife trick, so I don´t see any reason for paying for the slide card if you can easily use a knife or sth like that and do it for free.
