How Deep Will Edit Mode be ???

And for crying out loud, why the fuck was there only space for 8 custom kit imports last year, and this year only 40. 40 means only one league home and away kits...it's next gen, I'm sure they can make the total something like 150-200 even more.

R9NALD9 makes an excellent point. Konami may be announcing that 40 slots are availible this year, but, like he says, that's actually only 20 teams with both home and away kits...infact does that also exclude keeper kits too? Home kit, away kit, GK home kit, GK away kit......thats only 10 teams with fully edited kits then yea, if my maths is correct ?!
I really hope that the slots are for emblems only and not slots for a kit, that would be terrible! At least if it's 40 emblems, they can be used on any kit, plus like someone else stated here also, i hope you can still place text on the kits too. I just really hope it's not one slot per kit template, like last year, which looked awful anyway when imported.

I'm thinking about this Konami being lazy conspiracy that we're mostly all into. Someone else, i read, mentioned that Seabass' team are, of course, Japanese. The Japanese are a very inward looking nation and are very proud of thier history and have no real interest in the outside world, as a general rule. They will not ever be told, no matter how many petitions or letters to the team are delivered. Maybe the game is always produced with predominately Winning Eleven in mind, so that all the editing needed will probably be sufficient for recreating Japanese and other Asian teams ( with probably the entire J-League already licensed ). They do not see the Japanese gamers really being interested in creating 100's of European or S.American sides, perhaps? I really don't think there will come a day when PES will be more suited to catering for a European audience, simply because it's not in the Japanese developers interest to do so. I'm not saying that they don't care, i am sure they are very appreciative of praise from all around the world, but they are more appreciative of Japanese praise. THAT's what matters most, so that's the gaming community Seabass' and co. will focus on, not us in Europe ect... Maybe it's another reason why they don't really get many official licenses each year, other than FIFA owning most of it of course, is that money is spent on Japanese offical licenses as they are of course vital to the game there.
Just my uninformed opinion of course, but maybe something to talk about? Anyone, closer to Japan than the rest of us able to shed more light on how Japanese games developers feel about making games outside of Japan?

I believe there are 40 slots for pictures (of jpg scans) or emblems/logos, and not 40 for the shirts.

But I'm not sure, I guess we have to wait for real infos from Konami or just wait 3 more weeks.

I hope it's just for emblems/logo's, but then how many will there be for shirts? I can't remember Konami being so fucking selfish with game info in the past, or am i wrong, they don't want to tell us anything concerning PES09 :(

Where has this magic number 40 come from??? and what does it refer to??? is this logo's as in "adidas", "nike", "lonsdale"...? or is it sponsors, or scans... what does it all mean???

It really annoys when I think about it.. I mean, if in the PS2 we had some 5 Slots for Kit Designs -then- One would expect at least 7 Slots (for Kit designing) in a Next Gen Console.

I fail to understand How and Why the Editing Modes in PES5 (and PES6) where actually better than the one we had in PES08. Shouldn't Next Gen Consoles have even better Editing Modes?? What am I missing here??

Is it that hard to introduce?? 2 New Slots for Kit Designing, an option for placing Logos in the Socks, and an Option for placing Logos on the Sides of the shirts.. Is that so hard?? Isn't a Next Gen Console easily Capable of that??

What in hell is Konami playing at.. the mere FACT that PS2 versions of PES actually had better Editing Modes (and gameplay) -than- the PS3 versions.. Is there any excuse to justify this??

I hope the Editing Mode in PES09 is just as good as in PES5.. Anything worst will be considered as a disappointment.

i know this has been mentioned thousands of times but a deep edit mode will be slightly undermined if you cant untuck shirts.

Yet another Detail that really annoys me.. I mean, How hard can it be to include; Untucked Shirts, Logos on the Socks, Logos on the Sides of the Shirts, Tweaking with the Length of the Shorts, etc, etc..

A Next Gen Console is easily capable of all those Details -and- we all know such Details would be Noticed and appreciated by Most Fans.. Really makes you wonder WHY Konami didn't Implemented such Details to PES08.

Can only Hope some of them make it to PES09.

I feel the same way.. I mean, back in the PS2 version there was the Legit Excuse that the PS2 Consoles just couldn't handle plenty more.

But with Next Gen Consoles one would expect some Significant Updates in that Aspect -only- to find out that PES08 had a worthless Editing Mode, coupled with Boring Gameplay.

I'm really hoping PES09 returns to PES5; great Gameplay coupled with a great Editing Mode.. and of course the good Graphics would be the icing on the cake.

Bottom Line?? Here we are hoping the Editing Mode is just as good as the Old PES5 Editing Mode -WHEN- we should be Demanding a better Editing Mode than the ones we had back in the PS2 versions.

I also really like editing thhings till I can get as much things as close to real as possible. I'd love the ability to make the real League Logo's in the same way you edit the emblem's and logo's & also the ability to place them on sleeves.

It would be ace to have a stadium editor where you can build your own stadium & then play in it. You could chose things like pitch patterns, colour of seats(make different colours to form patterns & sponsors), chose roofing style, chose goal & net styles, even have the opportunity to build a closing roof. It'd take alot of work from Konami though.

Also, seeing as they have a lot of licensed kits with proper manufacturers logos(addidas in particular) it would be a lot easier & would make kits look alot better if they'd just allow you to add those logo's ready made logos (e.g. nike "tick") to the unlicensed teams. Suppose that would probably result in a big argument over Licensing though.

Just some of my thoughts.

has the Edit part of PSM3's review been scanned yet??? All i need to see is the set up of it...

Last year was annoying because you could not do your own combos, it was all templates... If it is a combo set up again it will create more individuality in the kits...

People worrying about 40 slots... if it's got the pixel editor and custom shirt text again, even with a limit to how many images can be imported all the teams will be able to have mostly accurate kits, surely? Maybe it wont be 100% but 80% will be fine for me!

Thing is that a Next Gen Console are easily capable of 100%.

So you can see why some of us feel a bit annoyed by it.

Oh I can understand, I just think we shouldn't expect perfection from PES 2009 in any area. After all, remember what it's had to recover from! I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one am just looking for substantial improvement in areas such as editing and online play, and minor improvement in core gameplay/graphics etc.

It's not really fair to Konami to expect much more than that, especially as they've chucked in two completely new modes this year.

You do have a point.. This is only Konami's 2nd try at Next Gen Consoles, so we shouldn't expect nothing Revolutionary or Perfect.

But at least, I would expect a version of PES5 with good Graphics -and- a proper Editing Mode.
