I can't score!

I've been playing for a little over a year now but rarely score. I'm currently half way through a season, playing as Juve, and I've scored 3 goals.

These are my typical game stats:

My Possession: 60%
My Shots on Goal: 11
My Corners: 3

The average score of my games is 0-0 or 0-1.

I just don't know how to get players open or how to create plays.

I'm so damn frustrated!

Thanks!

Practice, practice...and perhaps some more pratice. Over time you will disocver how - it will just 'click'. Soon those 35m belters will start flying in. :idhitit:

What formation do you use

I believe Juve's set up as 4-4-2. It really doesn't matter what formation I use though.

Practice? I've been playing fives days weekly for a year now.

Thanks for the feedback.

My best piece of advice is probably out of three options:

1. A simple through ball in their half near the back four will do the trick.
2. A One-Two near their defenders works wonders when perfromed correctly.
3. A chip-through ball over their last defender for your striker to lach onto.

I've got a mate who's been playing for years, rarely scores, and he keeps running at the opponents. They'll get it every time. You've got to learn what actions work and which don't and force yourself not to repeat bad habbits. If it's just scoring then, yup, there's nothing like a Beckham cross onto a Vieri or Campbell head for those stats to improve. Is it really just getting the ball in the back of the net that's the problemo??

Here's a typical scenario: I move the ball down (up?) the field 'till I'm roughly 25 yards from goal. There are two forwards hanging out on the 18 and of course they're each marked by two defenders. I run back and forth trying to find someone open and eventually someone takes the ball from me. Rarely are my forwards open. If I manage to get the ball to a forward the ball is either stolen right off or if I get a shot on goal the ball flys way high.

Ugh!

I have problems scoring too, but that's because some of my finishing makes Andy Cole look like a godsend. Do your forwards make any attacking runs or are they static? Sometimes it helps to have one of the forwards drift out to the wing and have one of the central midfielders make a forward run - or the winger on the side the striker is going out on making a run inside to confuse the markers and disturb the defence.

Laggard just learn to use one two passes all the time. I very rarely just press pass now without also holding L1 (cursor change button). I mean this way you will have players making runs all over the place and bound to be in space at some point.

One touch passing works for me. Even if you have to move the ball backwards to keep possession so be it - just be patient in the build up.

Unless your me, as I can dribble past the defence whenever I feel like.

Either what the boss said, which IMO shouldn't be done EVERYTIME (tactical reasons) but you want to make sure you DON'T do the following:

Do not hold R1 unless you have to
Do not hold R1 unless you have to
Do not hold R1 unless you have to

This is the biggest mistake of most people playing PES and losing. Just let go. You only need it when you get the ball in open space, and even then, use it wisely. It makes your moves inaccurate, and when you receive the ball holding R1 your player doesn't hold it well. Use R2 if you want to run. If you get into that situation like you described, there should be an opening either on the wing, or you should make a small run forward, turn around and you'll probably have an open pass.

My mate does that all the time, and half the time when he goes to recieve it he does the dummy move without thinking where they let it roll through their legs. It's well annoying when we are on the same team.

When we play co-ed and someone has their finger rested on the R1 they get really yelled. I mean, it's ok if you are new to the game, but really, that's just being stupid.

I use R1 (or Triangle in my case, old FIFA controls yea...) a lot. Well, I think I do anyway. Never notice but I know I like to run fast. Whats the point in going slow around the pitch? Besides once I go one nil up I like to keep possesion so just run back and forth for a while :D

I play with R1 and im fine, im doing master league with Crystal Palace (5 stars) and still winning 7-0, 4-0, 5-1 etc, i havnt lost a game in at least 6 seasons!

It's all about practise, i cant see how you havnt been able to score, get into space, round the keeper, cut back into the box and pass into the middle and just tap square hoping someone is running onto it. If that dont work, train.

Well I don't know. Playing with R1 pressed a lot makes you lose the ball more. Maybe you guys time it well, maybe you just think you play a lot with R1, but truth must be told that if you notice people who are beginners it's usually their mistake. That and "going through the wall head on".

R1 is a basic. I'm sure no one presses it like a maniac, because the best way to pass an opponent is by slowing down with a good player like Owen ... better then any trick.

I haven't been playing PES for that long, but some of the things which really help me to score are:

1) formation - use a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 if you want more attacking options since defending is the easier part of the game (at least in my case).

2) the attacking arrows in the formation settings. Use them with some thought so that when attacking you always have people open at the wings or falling back to make the play.

3) sometimes use L1 and pass and do the one two pass. This is less effective than just pressing R2 after passing the ball. After you make a pass press R2 to make the player who made the pass run into space. This is something I use ALL the time.

4) Dont' be afraid to shoot just because you think the chance of it going in is not so great. I learned how to shoot from all positions in practice and by just trying out various shots. After some time shooting becomes intuitive, i.e. you know exactly how long to hold []. And remember that the power of the shot is determined in most part by the player and his position on the field not by how long you hold [] down. Holding [] down longer just makes the shot inaccurate and high.

5) Use the lob i.e. L1 + [] when one on one with the keeper.

Hope it helps.
