no pal what the point most people are trying to get across with this years version is that before we used to slate fifa for being so easy to pick up and just run from one end to the pitch to the other with the fastest player and score, wer as on our pes we had the excellent feeling of earning your goal by build up play.
i'm not gonna mention last years version of pes cos it was bab, but its is still possible to just run it down the wing with ronaldo, cut inside and either square it for the striker or blast it in. this can then be repeated through out the match for a copy cat goal, which is also what we, including myself, used to slag fifa off for.
i'm not sayin this years pes is shit, its good, just not the excellent game we wer given year in year out.
fifa has admitadly got better, it has incorporated build up play it has to be said.
Hazey,
I agree with what you're saying but it IS possible to defend against that. Generally, if a winger gets beyond a full back in real life, and into the box you're going to have big problems.
Is that an unfair assessment though? Normally if you put Ronaldo one v one against any player, and give him enough space in behind, he's going to hurt you. One thing I used to do in 08 was leave my full backs to be in-line with my centre backs (sometimes behind), against the more dangerous teams. I just think you're trivialising it. That's like saying, all you have to do is get a striker one on one and score. Of course that's the case in 80% of chances one on one. That's an accurate reflection of the modern game.
My criticism of FIFA is, in previous versions, unless you have a very good player, its hard to do anything. Whereas if you have a great player you can really hurt teams - almost run through them. This year in PES I think they've looked to sort that out. In 08, ronaldo and messi in particular were at times too good. They've slowed the pace and these players don't get as many chance to play that square ball, or get behind the defence.
If you manage to work the ball to a winger, beyond a full back, fair play to you I say. You're gonna fancy your chances to score, or at least create a chance. They have also worked on the whole scenario where both defenders get attracted to the ball, leaving a man back post in acres.
I'm not slating FIFA, I doubt I'll buy it but would certainly play it. However for me, it's never gonna play the same as PES. To say you're going to burn your copy is ridiculous.
