A great post and something I agree with in most respects. But I think at the end of the day it's down to personal preference. This thread could go on forever with 'oh Torres plays PES cos he is one of the best players', 'yes but Rooney plays FIFA etc'. It just happens that I prefer PES because FIFA will never replicate the feeling I get when I score a well worked goal on PES. :)

What I was about to say with my post was the following:

"Do not buy Pro Evolution Soccer because Torres is saying he likes to play it."
"Do buy Pro Evolution Soccer because you like to play it."

Its all about advertising. Konami did hire Messi and Torres to run a campaign for their game. The get paid for saying that they are PES-Freaks. On the other hand Fifa is doing the same thing. In today's marketing politics you should not trust anyone but your mum and dad.

Does anyone of you know Torres or Messi, do you know what they do in their little free time? The most of the time they are training and prepare for their next enemy. They need to analayse the tactic of the enemy expecially in important matches like champions league matches, if they would play PES after studying through 20 pages of analaysis their head would explode...

...I hope you get it.

That could well be true but fact is it's no secret that pro athletes love playing their sport on consoles and yes of course they have plenty of time to do so. They're not robots that perform 24/7 you know, they also do regular stuff just like you and I. Living in North America I'm accustomed to seeing athletes play video games. We see Lebron James or some NFL superstar lazing around playing games all the time on interviews and shows like MTV cribs. Also I think it's easier to go after people who are already into your game cuz it makes the interviews and play sessions more believable cuz lets face it, they're athletes not actors. Pretty sure the amount of money they receive from Konami or EA is nothing compared to what their clubs pay them as well so it's not unreasonable to say they all just endorse it cuz they like the game.

Ibra played Fifa on his xbox 360 in his house in his biography. If you watch the Babel vs Drenthe Pes battle, you'll see that Babel is actually of a good level which means he invested some good hours into the game. Konami will soon upload the video of Cesc playing Pes 2010 so we'll get to see how good he is.

Anyways you're right about one thing. None of this really matters and people shouldn't decide which game to buy based on which athlete plays it but it's good to know that there's a chance you'll get your ass handed to you online by none other than Messi himself :D

For the Fifa dudes maybe you'll run into Ibra, Higuain, or Rooney someday ;)

I play football at a pretty good level, and over the years have noticed one major thing :- People I know who are good at football in real life prefer Pro Evo to FIFA, and always will. I believe this is because if you have a vision of how the game should be played, or want to try things you know are possible on the field of play, Pro Evo gives you the scope to try it. FIFA is a game for Footballers who can only dream of getting a taste of what real football is like, hence they love all of the shiny presentation and the feel of playing in an official game on TV.

I know for a fact that the better player prefers Pro, so you will always have a divide between the two camps, with the majority going for FIFA these days due to the fact that most people are not any good at the real thing. So to all the good players out there, hope you enjoy PES 2010, and lets not worry about all the FIFA business because we are in the minority, but we get to play and appreciate the best Football game out there.

Finally, for all of you who do not understand what I'm trying to say:- Keep playing FIFA, You're just proving my point even more !!!

what fact?

also, what's the highest level you've played football at?

I've played pro youth football for about 8 years and since FIFA 08. PES hasn't stood a chance.

EDIT: I know 6 professionals that live in my district, they all play FIFA now :)

It's obvious. If your young and inexperienced in football gameplay and want to score easily, and not know how you did it then play FIFA.

If you want a proper challenge and your brain needs exercising then PRO EVO.

Simple.

P.S if you look at EA's demographics for FIFA, then you will see how they targeted Disposable income that 12-16 year olds have. If they had to release a game that 'thought' would have been needed in it, then their target audience would have been a higher age group. The youngsters want the strips, names and licences to be as close to the real thing as much as possible. Over and above the Gameplay.

you lot obviously don't have a clue then.

You'll find that whatever game online it is you play, the top 50 players or so will probably not have a clue about how to play in real life, but infact they'll be total geeks who barely ever leave their bedroom & play video games about 16 hours a day.

FACT.

The guy who made the point about COD earlier in the thread summed it up basically.

You don't get it, he's not talking about absolute skill but potential.

So of course someone who play 16 hours a day will be better than someone who plays 2 but that's not relevant here. The question is :

If someone is very good at football and play 8 hours a day, does he have a good shot at being superior than someone who don't know sh!t about football and play the same amount ?

Then it's all about making up your mind whether PES is realistic enough.

to me that's the most stupid question I've ever heard then.

It's like saying, if a qualified surgeon done a 4 hour operation would someone who isn't qualified be able to do the same operation to the same standard. No.

not really, you seem to be struggling

The proper comparison would be, if a qualified surgeon done a surgery on a video game/simulator, would a random player be able to do the same operation to the same standard ?

The question is not stupid because if you've paid attention many people question PES' realism, calling it an arcade game. Others, who think PES is realistic enough, would say, on the other hand answering "Yes" to that question is stupid.

Nice find dude. I wonder if they hated 2008 as much as we did.

LOL, They probably playing PES2008 and thinking ''Shit, I should have stuck to FIFA :/''

Only Joking dudes. But PES2008 was terrible.

But 09 was an improvement, and PES2010 is a very good step forward.

I'm sure Ronaldinho and the lads will be playing PES2010 and thinking ''Yeahh, this is the shit! Woot woot!''

lol :D
