What level have you been playing on?
Try a lower level until you are more confident and then build the level back up.

Try a 4-4-2 diamond midfield or a 3-5-2 with 2 DMFs. Play players on better form arrows for more success. Rest players when their stamina/fitness levels go down.

Which camera do you use?

Use a 4-3-3 system, with some fast 'wingers' (RB, LB, RMF, LMF, RW, LW) and a tall CF. Put up actions down the wings, and cross the ball with L1+O. When doing that, the ball mostly (8 of out 10 times I would say) reaches a team mate, who can header/volley the ball in.

Play calmly, pass the ball around,... by doing that players of the opposing team leave their usual positions, which give you space.
And use your wings! Make some actions, dribble, ... . Don't be afraid. Try. It doesn't harm to lose the ball there. There are enough people in the middle of the play who can get the ball back.

And start at level 1. Learn the controls,... When you manage that level, move on to the next. And so on.

Easy on him guys. Not everyone can be a pro. He's only asking for some advice. At least he's not flaming the game and throwing a hissyfit!

I'm playing on 3 star, and got into Division 1 in my 4th season. All the advice offered here is totally sound. I'd go one further and tell you you MUST buy new players if you're struggling. You need to trade up some of the crap default ones you start off with and get in some quality to strengthen the squad. Even one or two key signings in defense (particularly centre back), midfield and perhaps a striker will help ease the tide.. Get in a strong backbone through the centre of the field. Then build your team up slowly from there. I'm of the opinion that the first season in ML is the hardest because you have zero talent in the squad - so run searches for players right from the start to get those negociations underway (missing a window could hurt). If you don't offer new players a nice cash fee you'll be stranded, so spending a little higher can pay dividends in the end.

Keep trying. As frustrating as it ML can be when the chips are down, when the goals start to go in, and promotion/cups are in sight, it's sweet.

yeah keep at it mate....

PES 3 is one of those games you really have to break down that defence to get a shot on goal....which is how it should be.....

most rewarding game EVER.....

you'll get there!!!

When I first started playing PES I made the classic mistake everyone makes when they start. Whenever I had possession within the opponents half, I would try to take everyone on. This is o.k. if you're playing, say 2* where the com side doesn't really tackle, .....or your mum.
No, the key to progress is to keep the ball moving and gaps in the defences will appear... Mind you I struggle at 5*!

for us veterans or ppl who have almost mastered pes3 the most challenging practice is being a team lets say Iran or Egypt VS Brazil or France i still get beaten 2 - 0 or 3 - 0 so i'm far from mastering it!!!

Yeah you just have to keep at it. I am still struggling. I am playing on 3 stars because I refuse to play on 2 but as someone else said it is harder to get off shots in we7/pes3. Trying passing it around and definately get a decent forward. It is frustrating but rewarding when it comes together. Also, in the off season if you do a search for years left on contract at 0-1 you can find some players that you won't have to pay a transfer fee for.
