Could do with some tips for free kicks, never been that great at getting results.
I dont think the 'under the wall' works now, just skys it!

Also tryed the old tap O works occasionally but not as often as 2009.

Any tips please?

Don't want to sound like an asshole, but practice is the only way...no walkthroughs, nothing but practice :)

They're much better this year. They go in more often then in 2009. Just try to imagine the curl and aim accordingly. For players with 75-85 swerve I aim pretty close to the post cuz it doesn't bend much. For players with 90 and over I aim closer to the center of the goal cuz it'll swerve quite a bit. If you hold down or press X just when you contact the ball you'll get a softer shot but more swerve. If you have a very powerful kicker you can just aim for the corner and hold up and blast it.

to be honest i think direct freekicks are alot harder than in 2009, scored on so many freekicks in 09 but now the goalkeeper seem to get where i aim. but really the best way to score is to use the l1+r1 and make the player who pass the ball pass it onto your bad leg (usually your player will still shoot with his good foot) they always go in. 90% of the time at least (i just did this in training mode with beckham, lampard and gerrard and it's really easy to put in the back of the net.
you with gerrard and lamps you don't need much power at all since they got much of it already.

wot Storm said is my usual, pressing ▲ or X on contact with ball but not gettin good results as yet.
As for the vid on Youtube, he says to use DOWN which no longer works in 2009. He is using XBOX also I think, not sure what the buttons are.

Will try the different angles etc. in training mode, cheers

you mean have the passing player on your bad side?

Under the wall does work.. i used it earlier and scored!

i think free kicks are hit n miss, have hit the bar 5 times, and scored twice.

never scored on 09

L1 + R1 works better in 2010. freekicks have always been my specialty throughout the series but i have to say it is more difficult than 2009 without L1 + R1.
basic of PES freekicks,
you know how ↓ + □ and ↑ + □ works right? ( i found many ppl don't know about this..)

yeah, let's say the keeper covers the post furthest away, and the wall ofcourse covers the closest post, it would be normal for your player whos taking the freekick to get the pass onto his right foot and aim for the inside of the wall and outside of the keeper - in between. BUT if you get the pass such as the player is shooting from the outside of the wall, the shot will most likely go past the player covering the closest post and into the net. this works much better when you have a right footed player to take it if you get the freekick on the left side, and a left footed player on the right side. the shot would normally be struck with a lefty when you, from the pass, get it rolled even further to the left, but strangely this freekick works much better when you use a right footed player when it's rolled onto his left (still remember he's supposed to shoot with he's right foot)

i know it was confusingly explained, if you don't understand i might take a couple of shots and upload them to youtube.

anyway if the freekick is from 20yds and in, you shoot under the wall by holding "O" with full bar, while holding down arrow. often works this also, just make sure you aim as close as possible to the post furthest away from the keeper.

Under the wall works for me too. Press backwards/down on the stick and hold O for power. To combat this always hold A and B (on xbox) so your players run forward but don't jump.

TIP: The same technique works great to roll one into the area as a through pass or to create mass confusion in the box! Works too well IMO, much better than high passes, even on longer free kicks...

Nice one mate. Damn the keeper gets raped by Ronaldo.
Didn't know you could use x button to actually make a shot.. Thought this would be a pass..

That tutorial explains it all really. BTW how can you take freekicks with the A or X button? Maybe he mixed it up with square and X on xbox?

^Ironically or luckily my first goal on pes 2010 was a free kick by Diego from 22m. I haven't scored 1 freekick in the demo and the first goal I scored in the full version was a freekick.:)

^ Not bad. Regarding the x button i think, as you said earlier, he must have confused the buttons. Tried it yesterday, and he just passed it no matter how much power i added.
However the O button under the wall works every time, if close enough to the goal. Quite shite that even Casillas can't save it like this. It's like the ball is almost destined to go in this way (play top player)
