New National Teams in PES3?

jamez

Calcio Agriculturus
I have read in some PES3 previews that national teams will be increased from 54 to 70. Does anyone know how likely this will be?

If so here are a few teams i would like to see included:
Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Iceland, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Canada, Thailand, Mali, Algeria, Estonia, Cyprus, Israel, Macedonia........Just a few suggestions. How about Iraq and a Baghdad Stadium (if there is still one left)!?

I enjoy playing the nationals as much as the club sides. Just a matter of nostalgia for me as this is how ISS all began back in the SNES days.

Great site by the way, keep up the good work.:)

Hi there.

I'm not sure those kinds of teams would add much to the game unless you are having an argument over which is the worst team in the game.
Low stats all round it would seem.

Would there be much interest in playing as these teams?
Which stadiums would suit them?

They would be good for use in qualifying groups for tournaments though.

On the other hand just a few more teams from Asia, Africa and the Americas would make their respective national championships more interesting.

This would only add to the game because at the moment these tournaments can be won with only a couple of games played due to the lack of participating teams.

It would also make the game more SWOS-like (what a game!) as you could sign bargain players from lesser nations into your club team along side the stars.

P.S. Teams like Latvia and Iceland are in with a good chance of EURO 2004 qualification. Konami need to think ahead.

To be fair - using the FIFA Rankings as a guide - there are quite a few teams who deserve to be in.

Iran are the highest ranked team not in the game - at #34. Or are they in it? Why do I have the feeling they are.

The next are Honduras, who are ranked #37. They have a few useful players, to be fair, but they've never really made an impact with any shock results or anything.

Israel are joint #40 - with Tunisia. They've improved steadily since the end of last year, when they were ranked #46. Their team is more than useful at times, and I think they should be in the game.

Ranked #43 are the Swiss. They aren't any good, but have the odd player who's decent. I personally don't know why they're in the game - but fair enough, their ranking is good enough.

Both New Zealand and Trinidad & Tobago are higher than the likes of Slovakia and Hungary. The reason they are higher, though, is because they play against crap teams, and register a lot of wins, so whether their squads would be good enough to merit inclusion, I don't know.

Out of jamez' list, I think the biggest team he missed, was Ghana. They are a better team than their ranking of #67 suggests. They're right up alongside the Nigerians and Cameroonians, in amongst Africa's elite. They've got a lot of good players, too.

All of these teams should sooner be in the game than Northern Ireland, who are quite frankly, terrible. They are ranked #111 in the world, and I'm sure if they played any other British team, they'd let at least 4 in. Get rid of them, please.

Iran are in it
It's Iraq who aren't.
(Remember that "I can beat you with any team..." dicussion?!)

Spot on Mr Nifty1pound50!

Thankyou for adding reason to my argument. You are exactly right - if teams like northern ireland are in there then surely anyone can be. I think a change would be as good as a rest for the national side to PES3. Konami - get those world rankings out now!

By the way the iraq thing was a joke.

Bit harsh on Northern Ireland methinks.
Wednesday night, 0 - 0 vs. Spain.
Not too shabby!

P.S. We're a young side!

Thing is they have to consider the countries where the game is sold and try to appeal to the max number of people.
There's loads of northern Irish people in Britain and Europe who wouldn't be too happy if their team wasn't in.

I doubt Iraq will be too worried about not being in
They've got enough problems...

But I would like to see the best line ups of the classic Ghana and Liberia teams with Weah and Yeboah. That would be cool.
Those two for Hidden players, yes!

Sorry for being a bit harsh on N. Ireland. Decent record in the world cup through the years (am i right you once reached the semi final?). I'm sure your time will come again soon. Good result v spain.

No worries about N. Ireland.
But they're not 'my' team.
I was just suggesting why they are in there.

Zyg, Mahdavikia is the reason I had a feeling Iran were there. And Bagheri. :D

I understand why N. Ireland are there, but in essence, the two factors to consider for Konami (or, for Zyg's sake, Nokami - where did that come from?), are this:

best quality of teams
where the game is sold/scope covered

Team Quality

Clearly, the more better teams in there, the more enjoyment people will find playing the game. No-one wants to have goalless draws every game because the strikers can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Surely FIFA know what they're about though, and so the World Rankings is about as good an indicator of how good a team is you're going to get? Clearly, it's also a question of players playing for the big European clubs - otherwise everyone would be on a free transfer at the beginning. Also, you're going to look at the quality of the individual players. And for the person who said Honduras are crap - they aren't. Alex Pineda Chacon. All that needs to be said. Then there's James Melvin (I think) Brown. He's quality. Good young striker, plying his trade in Italy, Serie B, or possible Serie A. They are a good side. Juan Caballero of Udinese anyone?

Scope of Teams

Konami - and consequently the PES games - are an international product, sold worldwide. For any sort of balanced success, Konami need to make sure they cover all areas of the world. I personally think this wide scope gives the game a good feel. I like having Morocco in the game, and I for one now play all sorts of international games - not only the big sides. There's a lot of enjoyment to be had in getting a scrappy 1-0 win as the Saudis over Iran, for example.

I don't know what the purpose was for posting this, other than to spark a bit of debate etc. Just my thoughts I guess.

Northern Ireland's best world cup performance was actually reaching the quarters in 1958, although the most glorious day in our history was when we beat Spain 1 - 0 in the first round in 1982!

The word I have often used 'Nokami' comes from the same place as:

Radonlo,
Ravoldi,
Roberto Larcos,
and so on.

They bug me with it so I'm getting revenge!

They do a lot of great things but when they screw up, like the disappointment of us when we found out the rosters of PES2, they screw up in a royal OBE type way.

The future games should have empty slots for club and national teams and some kind of online database like our player creation one where people can just download the team they want onto an empty slot and have who they think are more deserving.
(And online play too, Reb!)

It seems to me that most people who play football games are narrow minded and only want to play matches between the big sides for example BRAZIL v ITALY, ARGENTINA v ENGLAND, FRANCE v SPAIN or REAL v BARCA, AC v INTER etc. I enjoy these games as much as the next man.

Some of us however like to explore all the teams in a game, as there are more quality players with teams like Peru and Morocco than you think.

I agree with Nifty that a match between Iran and Saudi Arabia can be just as enjoyable as a match littered with star players. You have to work harder to get results because you cant rely on quality players to smack a ball from 35yds and hit the top corner or deliver pin point crosses.

I would like to see some more Asian teams in there (c'mon Bangladesh... ooh they r awful... but I like them!). But I would prefer a lot more African teams. This is because we now have more awareness of their federation tournament (and coverage) in the UK. And many of their players play in Europe and so are recognisable. And it would be nice to have at least 2 reps from each fed. So NZ and Canada perhaps? Whether I would ever play using them is another thing altogether but like some people have mentioned it's not just a case of who you would use but who should be there too. Plus if those purported slots for created teams exist it shouldn't be too bad (if only you can add the created teams to the existing ones... drool!)

New Zealand is the team that I miss. They had a not to good team, but they will appear in next Confederations Cup though they only won 1-0 to Australia reserves with their full strength side to get there. But recently they registered the same score against Scotland that Germany a few days later. Their top players only play for weak clubs such as Ruch Chorzow, Wallsall and other teams from New Zealand and the American MLS but that doesn't mean they can't made an impact in France 2003 and qualify for the semifinals. His national coach Mick Waitt puts on the field an attack-minded 4-3-3 formation with either Killen or Coveny as striking force supported by the flanks by Aaran Lines on the left and Noah Hickey or much more often Mark Burton playing on the opposite side, this last was awarded as the best player of the Oceania Nations cup played in July on the previous year. But where the All whites real strength lies is in the heart of the defence, where a veteran Chris Zoricich captains the side marshalling the defence alongside Ryan Nelsen who can play either as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder and is in a good scoring form. At left back we find Gerad Davis who saw his hair painted in light yellow recently. At the other end of the back four we have two players fighting for the place: Duncan Oughton and David Mulligan who made his debut for the all whites a month later than Oughton but has enjoyed more starting line-up action that him. And in the center of the pitch is Chris Jackson who takes the leadership with Simon Elliott at his right side and Ivan Vicelich more determined to play as a left-sided midfielder. This last is the all white who play in the best club from my point of view: Roda JC. Eating sunflower seeds at the substitute's bench is Danny Hay a former Leeds defender who is recovering form an injury.

instead of adding more national teams perhaps they could include classic club teams. for example, Liverpool in the 80's. Playing as john barnes would be great.
