"The image of PES 2008 is PC and Xbox 360 edition of the game. PS3 image is not released for the SONY embargo by Konami."

maybe this means that there will be a graphical difference between the 360 and PS3 versions, we will have to wait until we see some PS3 screenshots to know for sure

I doubt there'll be much difference between the ps3 screens. It's kinda getting annoying with all the claims of more features on it.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. If Sony come through with it's claims of a 19gb+ BR game, then you're looking at a vast difference - maybe not in gameplay but in features definatley. I mean were looking at almost 50% extra storage used for something!

I see where your coming from. I just think its unfair. Most of PES' fanbase own xbox 360's now because the only next gen console with PES6 was the 360. In order for their loyal fans to get the most from pes7 they'll have to fork out 500+ pound to get a brand new console? thats just a "tad" unfair lol

I don't get how FIFA 08 can fit 30+ leagues, about 15,000 players and other stuff on a DVD disc and Konami can apparently only do these things on a blu-ray disc. I'd rather they just admit they have a deal with Sony, rather than spouting bollocks.

Of course, these so called "reports/quotes" could be shite an'all. We'll just have to wait and see.

I can never figure out why people bought a 360 just for the "broken" next gen version of WE. I have a ps3 and I just bought the ps2 version to hold me over until the ps3 version comes out. It plays better and looks almost as good with the upscaling and smoothing. Instead of complaining about how not fair it is that the game will have more for the ps3, don't invest in a LIMITED console to begin with. Nothing personal I just had to get that off my chest.

I didn't actually get a 360 for the sole purpose of playing PES6.
I've nothing against sony at all, i was a keen follower till the ps3's price became public knowledge. That along with lack of decent games drove me to get a 360 and because of that i've came to the conclusion that at this point in time the 360 is the better console.

Your on the other side of the arguement, to you everything is perfect but im clearly not the only person that feels betrayed by konami if this is all true in the end

Yea and I do agree with you. The Xbox360 is the best option from a year ago until probably... 3-4 months from now. It's got more/better games and better online capabilities. I waited for the ps3 after the 360 came out because I believe Sony makes a better product. Yes the price point was troublesome but the technical specs of the ps3 are what sold me. To each his own, I understand your position here and I do feel that it is unfair to market the same game for both systems if one will be better than the other.

Theres no doubt the PS3 will be the better console in a year or 2! Just sucks their, in a way, taking my pro away from me :( lol

i agree with what u are saying, for me i got a 360 because it was the only way to play "next gen", obviously i got the 360 before pes6 came out on it, in a way i was expecting to get what we are getting this year the first time round, obviously we didnt, dont get me wrong, i love my 360 and there are some awesome games on it, but if konami give sony the better game i will not be happy, in saying that i will end up getting a ps3 later on if pro evo is much better on it simply because i love the game and its pretty much the only game i play consistently, what pisses me off is that sony will get money because konami will do over the 360 owners, for all we know they will both exactly the same and this may not be an issue after all, thats my opinion anyway

I'll have to paste this following quote in all them different threads on pes 2008 to grab everyone's attention. Can't we just concentrate on one?

Anyway. According to a dude off evo-web:

Just had a quick chat with the PSM3 reviewer whose PES7 blog entry was quoted on here before. I said to him that the graphics were a disappointment after what Seabass had said in interviews about there being a new graphical engine, and that it was perfectly normal to feel let down. I also mentioned why I've been slowly going off PES for the last few years, with the novelty of the new features wearing off after two weeks and then being left with the "I've done this all before" feeling. Here is what he had to say:

I sometimes think a large part of the reason that games mags, myself included, are so forgiving of PES, is that in multiplayer - which we literally do play in 4-player every day - just keeps on giving. And giving. I play the game solo, too, but I feel like the Master League has been stuck in a trench, however fun, for years. And the core faults crop up time and again. The 'scripting', at times, is laughable, especially at the lower level in Master League. You can have 30 shots, and still lose 1-0 to a 'bent' unstoppable CPU goal in the 90th minute - but there's a perverse thrill in 'breaking' the script.

I played quite a lot of 360 Fifa last year, so I'm sceptical of their claims, but admire what they're trying to do. It's in everyone's interests if both games are excellent, but bitter experience teaches you that EA are masters of the big promise - I've been on countless press 'romancing' trips to their HQ where they've promised all sorts of things, and listened intently to our feedback, only for it to be completely ignored. But every year is a fresh chance, and you treat it as such.

I've seen a fair bit more of PES 2008 than they've shown on the net, and I'm now super excited in an unashamedly zestful fan's way. I might be wrong. But at least I've got an idea what they're up to.

I was also initially pleased, but underwhelmed, by the first batch of shots. From what Konami tell us, a lot of internal resource has been geared to the PS3 version, and it's seems only fair to be optimistic.

Time will tell.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Dan

Looking at what I've highlighted, the first bit sounds really promising - a few people have said stuff similar to this now. What the hell could he be talking about that is so amazing? And as for the second bit I've highlighted - is it just me or does that say that the shots released currently are 360 shots and so the PS3 graphcis will be better after all?

I'll no doubt be buying PES7 for my 360, I'll only ever buy a PS3 in about 2 years time when the price is half-reasonable and there is actually a good reason to buy it. As currently, their games aren't anything next-gen and nearly all of Sony's exclusives are now converting to the 360 and Wii also. However I'll definetely be thoroughly annoyed if the PS3 version of PES7 is far greater than the 360's game. It just wouldn't make any sense to be honest, unless Sony have paid Konami off on the sly which sounds realistic, but I thought Sony were in heaps of debt, no ?

Lets put it this way, even if the PS3's version is twice as good with twice as many features on than the 360 game, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to spend £500 for 1 game. As realistically the PS3 is offering fuck all at the moment and to buy such an expensive console producing PS2-esque games currently would be madness. There is no point in buying a console just so you can play 1 game.

If the game is truely worth it i'd definitely get a PS3. Worth it as in significantly different from the 360 version, and maybe has many new modes or features i like absent on 360. Thats a big IF.

game companies always use the consoles or computers that best display their game, hence pc's are often used for screen shots, so if they're preferrin to use the xbox 360 to demonstrate their game its probably the best console to do the job. i've a ps3 and i've noticed quite a few games look better on the 360 than the ps3 and i think there's a good chance evo will too.

The game is being primarily developed for the PS3 so there could be some differences. As for most of the PES fanbase owing 360's - it sold far more copies on the PS2, so the biggest fanbase is "last gen".
