Official PES3 Demo/League Competition Thread

From the main pesinsight.com page:-

Pro Evolution Soccer 3: The League
The new PES3 national competition is due to begin on September 19th, 2003. Play the PES3 demo disk to see if you are good enough to enter the latter stages and compete with the best PES players in the UK.

"Konami of Europe, GAME and Dennis Publishing expand hugely successful pre-release partnership in run up to November launch.

As Konami of Europe ramps up for the November release of its eagerly-awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 3 title for PlayStation 2, the publisher has announced it is to again team up with retail giant GAME and Computer and Video Games Magazine for a second, UK-wide Pro Evolution Soccer promotion.

The trio previously joined forces last year for the phenomenally successful National Pro Evolution Soccer 2 Championship, wherein consumers pre-ordering Pro Evolution Soccer 2 were given a demo version that entitled them to enter a competition to find the greatest PES2 player. Heats were held in GAME stores across the country, with East London’s David Sefah emerging as the winner in the final held at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

Following its success, Konami, GAME and CVG have devised a larger and far-reaching follow-up, and The Pro Evolution Soccer 3 National League will begin from September 19th. From this date, visitors to any of 66 GAME stores will be able to pre-order Pro Evolution Soccer 3 for £1.99 (and is redeemable against the price of the full game) and will receive an exclusive playable demo of what is being hailed as the definitive football game for any system. On playing the demo and winning a match, players will receive a special code that can be entered at participating GAME stores or via www.pesleague.co.uk. The best players will then be selected and entered into a special PES3 National League, where they will be put into individual leagues against rival players with matches to be played in chosen GAME centres nationwide.

Matches will be played from the beginning of November through to June, with the ultimate champion walking away with a number of very special football and video game-related prizes. “We were extremely pleased with the reception given to last year’s tournament, and see the National League as the way forward in spreading word about Pro Evolution Soccer 3,” said Jon Murphy, UK Marketing and PR Manager for Konami. “The game enjoys a huge fan base and we see this as a means or organising a proper competitive league and spreading word of mouth about one of our key releases.”

Said Lisa Artemis, PR Executive for GAME: “Interest in Pro Evolution Soccer 3 is already high, and this is the perfect way for people to play the game well in advance of launch. The previous tournament was a huge success and saw GAME branches packed with people out to prove they were the best players. Making it bigger and better is the natural progression and we are anticipating an even greater success than last year.”

The tournament will be heavily flagged in GAME stores and will also be advertised in Dennis Publishing’s Maxim and CVG titles, and will be supported by a wealth of POS and prizes for initial entrants and winners."

For this PES3 competition, those who have been playing Winning Eleven 7 will have a big advantage over those who haven't. Don't forget to practice with different camera views and on 5 minute matches too. The current UK champ, David Sefah, is a truly great PES player who won't give up his crown without a fight, so get practicing!

Good luck to all forum members who enter this competition. Let us know how it goes!

======================

OK. You have to go to a Game store and pre-order PES3 to be able to get the demo disk for £1.99. You don't actually have to buy PES3 after that. So you can either give them wrong details for you or when they contact you to buy PES3, tell them you got it cheaper elsewhere (like £29.99 from the link at pesinsight.com!).

OK. The official page for the league is:
www.pesleague.co.uk
and the competition is only open to those in the UK (or those who are willing to travel to the UK repeatedly to take part).

=====================

Dates for the league meetings are:

Saturday 22 November

Saturday 20 December

Saturday 31 January

Saturday 28 February

Saturday 27 March

Saturday 24 April

Saturday 29 May

Saturday 26 June

=======================

Someone has stated that:
"You dont have to attend every event, just play 20 games over all those dates. max of 7 per session. so you could complete all your games in 4 sessions in theory"
which could be correct but may not be so keep this in mind.

=======================

The release date of the demo from above has probably changed but that is all that should be different (if it is).

The demo will most likely be a match featuring England V Argentina where you play as England. More details on this to follow.
Last year, it was the first half of a 5 minute match with England on green form arrows and the opposition (Brazil) on red form arrows playing on a 5* difficulty match.
A score of 3-0 was good enough to get you through last time (although not in every case).

Some people now have a version of PES3 which will give them the biggest advantage in this competition. Try to play play a bit of Winning Eleven 7 if you can as this is a very similar game.

All the questions should have been answered above.
So post below to let us know how it is going for you in the demo. Let's see what kind of scores people are getting.

Good luck to all forum members of www.pesinsight.com!
:)

League Rules (from pesfan)

On the specified event days, Pro Evolution Soccer League members can arrive throughout the day to play, where they will have priority over non league players.

Every league member must wear their ID provided, so that other players, journalists and the organising team can easily identify them.

Throughout the course of the league, players must play a minimum of 5 games and a maximum of 20 games in total. Players can play as many friendlies as they like.

Players can play and enter the data from a maximum of 7 games per league event.

There will only be 4 PlayStation 2s available at each venue, so players may have to wait their turn to play or return later.

All game data over and above the quotas stated will be discarded and not recorded

Venues have a limited capacity and therefore have the right to make players wait or return later if the venue is overcrowded

Venues have the right to refuse admission and to eject anyone displaying anti-social behaviour

Each player is responsible for recording their own data and making sure that it is handed to the relevant person. There will be a designated person in every centre at every event to record and enter data onto www.pesleague.co.uk.

Data sheets must be provided and kept available during all league events.

Over the course of the league’s duration players can play the same person no more than once.

To make every game fair and equal, the game will be set to the following default:

10 minute games (5mins per half)

Conditions set at maximum for players

International teams only, players must play the same team throughout the course of the league

Players cannot use master league teams

During the league stage the game will be 90 minutes only, no extra time, no penalties, no golden goal.

Tactics etc can only happen before the game and during half time. There can be no tactical substitutions during the game

Matches with more then 5 red cards will be abandoned. Forfeited games will be awarded as a 3-0 win to the opponent

The iGames / venue manager’s decision is final in the event of disputes

Every player is responsible for recording their own data and signing the data sheets. Failure to complete a game data sheet will result in a 0-0 score

All data will be entered on the evening of the event onto www.pesleague.co.uk, so that players can access their data as soon as possible.

The data on the website is not disputable as every player is responsible for their own data at the time of the event. There will be no discussion about the accuracy of data, and the webmaster’s decision is always final.

Neither Dennis Publishing, GAME, Konami nor iGames can accept responsibility or liability for players during these events.

Derby Events

These will be invite only events
Rules for the Derby Event will be released when events are announced

The Grand Final

The top 4 ranking players from each league, at the close will go through the Grand Final. Players will go through on points. In the event if a tie it will be decided on the following, in this order:

Goals Scored

Goal Difference

Then a play off

Details of the Grand Final and Rules will be released closer to the time.

Travel expenses, accomodation and necessary expenses will be paid by the Organising Team for finalists plus a guests.

If under the age of 18, finalists will have to bring a guest over the age of 18 years

Cheating

Any cheating, as per the rules outlined, will lead to the disqualification of players for the duration of the league.

Prizes

Throughout the duration of the league there will be a number of spot prizes availble, including 50 x £10 GAME vouchers.

The Grand Prize for the overall winner is the dream gaming set up – including PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Gameboy Advance, a wide screen TV, surround sound and peripherals. Plus a major football prize

Bummer. Sorry mate. I know it's not really a consolation but Leicester is right in the middle of 4 of the demo venues. Birmingham, Nottingham, Peterborough and Northampton. Guess you'll have to either go to one of those or send someone you know. Newcastle area people are in a worse situation though.

Sure you can send it to the website (as you should) but you have to get the disc from one of these venues first.

Real details of the demo from a Game manager follow.

All the settings: You've got the option to set it to 50 or 60 Hz, Exhibition match, option to play 'Libero Grande' mode if you like, 5 min match, dificulty 5 stars, Home condition: lowest grey arrow, Away: top red. The camera angle from what I can tell is the one in between default and wide.

Old Trafford, oh and new commentary classic:
Trevor: They seem to want to feel the other team up a bit.
Peter: You seem to be expecting a close encounter.

How rude. On the whole, I'd say the commentary is miles better, more informative comments and no: "No, I tell a lie...he's missed"

Weather: Summer
Kits: Changable
Fans: Sometimes looks like a full house, other times, looks a bit patchy.
Ball: Plain

Stutter Bug: Big and bad

And back to the stadium thing, although I said Old Trafford, I think it might be random, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Q. Seen any good scores so far?

No worries buddy, just managed a 1-0 myself but one of my staff got 2-1 today, nothing better than that so far.

Grey arrows are the worst form you can set it to. Try the demo on Libero Grande mode - yeah right!

Hope this helps.
Practice!!!

picture the scene... i want to play the pes3 demo so i can register in the pes league thing. i go into coventry city centre to one of the two game stores there hoping to buy a copy. alas, the game stores in coventry DON'T SELL IT!!!!!! If I want it I have to go to the nearest shop which is in Nuneaton which is a bummer to get to as the buses only run there every hour and cost about 2 quid each way. Coventry is a big city, IT SHOULD BE SOLD HERE!!!

My local GAME (Greenock, Scotland) said they expected the demo today (23rd) but it never arrived, and now they have no idea when it is due..."we will phone you when it arrives" was the best they could do. Also, they insist PES3 is due 30th Oct.

Has anyone got the demo today?
Is it only available in the official list of stores or can you get it from any Game store, as some people say?

I went into GAME in Banbury yesterday (tuesday), and they said they dont have the demo cos its only going to selected stores,
so I says to him I says
"can I reserve a copy of PES3 for when it comes out on oct 17th?"

then he says to me he says,
"Oct 17th!, as far as we know its Oct 31st" - I psyically recoiled,

then he said
"and you wont need to reserve one cos we get hundreds"

I said after some pontificating
"well ok, but I'm coming after YOU if i dont get one"

He then said something about "security"?
