I see exactly what you mean. In the summer, somebody made fun of me at another forum in a What-should-PES3-include conversation when I said that beuty sometimes lies on the detail (I can't stand to see those empty benches! . At least jb's patch has some people sitting there, even though they look like sitting on their backs). Gameplay, always comes first, of course. Even if patching weren't there I 'd still be playing PES. Anyway..

Can someone recommend a patch that has proper kits, correct player names, correct flags, new adboards, more balls, all the transfers? I got no idea what is included in any of the patches on the lomungtang ftp site.

I think you mean PES3? Go for jonboyo 5.1.04 with the update real real nice if you ask me.

Stoneman, make sure it is the confusion rip if you using the 5.1.04. Or use the anyripkit patch which is fine.

I've got a few problems if anyone can offer advice to any of the following:

Background, v9 PS2 fitted with Matrix chip. Been told v9 is dodgy and of high risk of overburn (hence the intro of v10 by Sony).

JB's 1.12.03 anyripkit patch with 8.1.04 update, burnt on verbatim cdr using cdrwin at 4x.

Problems:
1. Intro movie stutters BADLY - this supposed to happen?
2. Accessing menus takes quite a long time especially 'end of editing'
3. when freekick awarded, takes it's time to start the game again (i.e. black screen)
4. general loading is lot longer.
5. end of half/game trevor/peter talking, but black screen - takes about 30 seconds to start replaying highlights.
6. bgm (robbie/motd) skips heavily also - maybe linked to 5.

Anyone else have a v9 with problems? loading etc? Anyone with a non v9 model experience loading problems with matrix or messiah or dms chips? or have you all got perfectly running ps2's that run patched games with no noticeable difference than an original?

Any advice please?

I dont know if its due to the fact of the chip. But all these points/problems you mentioned shouldnt be in the game.

It's the little details that makes a game feel and look authentic. Try going back to unpatched PES and it will surely not be the same..

Bonessi, I have v4 with Matrix modchip and it works fine. Do this happen when you play other games as well or is it only with PES?

I only play PES3.....

I was told that v9 ps2's are known to have problems with overburn on the laser, so it looks like it might be that. Reckon I'll be de-chipping/selling the one I've got and then exchanging it for a v10 pre-modded I think.

I'm gonna try burning at 1x and see if that makes a difference, but it deffo sounds like a laser/chip problem to me

In the 5.1.04 jonboyo PES3 patch, it is supposed to be a simple .ppf to apply to the bin. This gave me a "Binblock/Patchvalidation failed. Continue ?" error. I click to continue and then burned it. It worked fine.

AS long as i've been around here Zy, I need help. I click go through the beginner guide and patch it with the 5.1.04 patch by Jonboyo. I use the slide card trick and the blue screen comes up which means alls good. But then all i get is black emptyness and the disc spooling continuosuly. I got the same error but this machine just dont take it! What can you suggest pal?

Well, I can remember that he was speaking about the ripping guide yesterday, so I think he used jb´s ripping guide.
Maybe he forgot the scanning. If it doesn´t work after scanning and rebuilding sectors I would go for the 1.12. anyripkit. Then update it to 5.1. It´s the same like the 5.1. "confusion rip only" patch.
One strange thing I´ve noticed: When you use our guide here on the forum your rip has 720 mb, the confusion rip has about 790 mb, but the data_e.afs have the same size
So I think "Confusion rip only" patches should work without any problems when you use them with our rip and not with the confusion rip. As far as I can remember it works for you Zyg, right ?

Correct.
jb 5.1.04 applied direct to the 720MB rip made using jb's guide here works fine for me.

Jag, it would be good to know exactly when the game freezes, does the PS2 logo appear ? Or does the black screen come before the PS2 logo. If it freezes directly after the logo then perhaps you forgot to remove the DVD check with DVDScan.

The PS2 Logo does not appear lads. However, when you browse the contents of the patched CD, should it still have the SLES File? I patched the cd with the beginners.txt file compiled by hitman which has JB patching guide. I havent scan for errors or checked with ECCREG. Next step I guess. Did i need to update to 8.1 after applying the 5.1 patch? I also used the FLASH++RIP utiltiy from Lomungtung.

P.S - Whats the confusion rip? Just another ripping tool or..?

Yes it should have the SLES file, you need DVDScan because of the SLES file, you have to remove the DVD check from there.

Ok thanx Larsson! So what does the black screen mean. I didnt scan it for errors so that could be it. Do i rebuild sectors or repair in CDMAGE? Before or after patching? Cheerz

Repair and rebuild usually after patching.

Black screen means that the disk doesn't work. An error somewhere in the patching/ripping process.
