I think you're right, so having the game since Tuesday i decided to post here some impressions on the new Konami's foottbal simulator.
I think the game is graphically better,improved with new animations in the game like the substitutions, the injuries and of course the new great look of the menus.
About the gameplay i would say that the shots now are much more difficult to be done, specially those from outbox and they seem to be less powerfull now. The passes are almost the same with the long passes being now more accurate. The Dribble and all the body movements now are more difficult to be done, it seems like the right analog stick is not so effective as it was on PES3.The free-Kick are almost the same despite now you having the option to have other player to pass the ball. I would also reffer to the crosses, as it seems more harder to the strike to hit the ball with the oppositte defenders being now well placed.
Also i think that the CPU AI is better, now you have your opposite team playing well on the middle and specially on the flanks.
I've played about fifteen matches on the harder level and of course this is only my opinion. I will not say if this game is better than PES3 I'll let that issue to others.
Just a note to all Chelsea fans, you have the best football coach of the World, believe me!

yes i agree with Larsson i find it very effective pressing 'O' twice when performing a cross , or if your just inside the box on one of the wings press 'O' 3 times for a low cross as the ball can just hit off of anyone....ive scored 3 goals with the low cross where the opponents have scored OG's because the cross is so hard and low
I haven't been bothered to read the last 11 pages so sorry if I say anything that's already been said 
But I may as well just give you the whole view.
Got the game yesterday, played quite a lot of it as you might imagine, both against the CPU and human opponents. I've used the national teams and club teams.
The mix between making the game fresh and new but not losing the standard set in PES3/WE8 is perfect. It feels similar but diferent at the same time. Love the new passing, holding down X for longer (or triangle for through passes) makes the ball go to a player further away, pretty much like a power bar for passes. Crossing is improved too.
Dribbling is different now also. Stepovers and 360's actually have an effect on the opponent now. Do a couple of stepovers and press R1 and chances are you'll leave your opponent standing. Looks ace as well
From what I've noticed, shots can curl in open play although there's no way of controling it. Shots also dip if hit from distance with high power bar.
Other new things include a neat lay off which can be done by pressing X and a direction as the ball is dropping to you.
Edit mode is amazing, you can change almost anything on the players body, you can change shoulder width, chest size, stomach size, legs size, arms, you name it! There's also the face editor from last years game, which has been re-vamped and features a few new possibilities. Things which were previously grouped together (eyes and eyebrows for example) are now seperate and therefore more combinations are possible. The same system works with hairstyles. You choose a base style, then choose the fringe, bottom back, and thickness/volume etc.
Seen some comments about nets and net physics on the forums before, well, the net physics are fantastic! A lot better than last years, they now seem to have more 'give' in them, if you hit a hard shot the net will bulge more, as it should. There are also green nets in a couple of stadiums! Also a few different styles from previous years.
Haven't been able to try master league yet because of the language, I think I'll wait for an english patch before trying that. Looks very thorough though.

I played it last night (Today at 4:30 am) for tuh very first time.
It's all fuzzy like tuh fonz.
Cos mah Tv's beeen a chattering a way and cannay do it 60 hz styla.
Yus.
T'is harder, and the general feel of the game has slowered, except from the crossing, get in the way of a double tap circle cross and it hurted.
Lots of fun, lots of curl. Need to get a longy range power shot in, have scored a couple of neat 30 yarders.
Stressing on outside of the foot pass is being stressed.

Well I have put in about 50 hours play now.
Slowdown is a major unforgivable issue, it seems to be when there is over 8 players in and around the penalty area it happens, I even scored during all this slowdown and wondered what the hell I did.
Responsivness - Now, PES/WE games have always held up well, but this one is not good, it takes that long to do an animation by the time its finished you have been tackled.
Variety - Something this version is lacking, tried different teams and formations but still have not scored or even looked like attempting a volley, its all headers on this game, I must have scored about 100 headers.
Bugs - Badly bugged, The keeper stood still on the edge of his 6 yard box for about 30 secs, basically gave me an open goal, also, free kick into the box, straight at the keeper, he didnt move and an easy header for me.
Passing/Crossing - right, twice when i was playing tonight I held down the cross button, wanted my striker to chase a long ball and for some reason my player decided to pass it back to my keeper!
In my opinion they have rushed this release badly, they have concentrated on the stupid touches such as on screen ref, cut scenes and released the game unifinished, it feels like FIFA, which is a bad thing.
Now, you lot are gonna go mental at what I wrote cause Konami can do no wrong apparantly, but I have bought every single Konami Football game since ISS on the SNES and this has left me feeling low, wanting to like something but simply cant ignore the faults.
