PC Troubleshooting Thread (PES 2008 ONLY)

Hi thanks for replying. I cant try it in a friends pc as they all only have PS3, and the library wouldnt let me put the disk in one of their pc's.
I returned it to Amazon and got the replacement today, this one is just doing the same. The disk just spins, clicks and then nothing- no error message or anything.

Im using Windows XP, I have an Athlon 64 processor, but the last two pes games worked fine on this laptop. The thing is though the laptop doesnt seem to be even getting a chance to read the disk to see if its compatible. The disk goes in the drive and then nothing loads, I can hear it spinning then I hear faint beeps, then it just goes click a few times and thats it
But all other disks are fine!
The laptops was just released 2 year ago so I cant see the Drive being non compatible, but I cant see Amazon sending TWO faulty disks.

Ive seen this happen on many a pc with PES games. In fact my sisters comp does the exact same thing as you describe. The problem I believe is that the disc its printed on is a dual-layer disc and some drives can have problems reading these discs. What you should do is consult the dvd drive makers website for a FIRMWARE update. This is the very basic software that the drive has to recognize different types of discs, normally an update will resolve this kind of problem.

Thanks Lexandro. I have gone to my pc makers site, as the Dvd drive is integrated to Laptop. But coudnt find any Firmware for the DVD Drive. Have sent question to them, so should know the problem in about 6 months, if Fujitsu are consistent !!

You should be able to see the name and model number of the drive by going to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM drives

If you double-click on it, a screen should pop up with three or four tabs. Somewhere it should tell you the firmware or driver version. Once you have that, search Google for your drive reference and add "firmware" at the end and see what pops up. The automatic update you've tried rarely works in my experience.

What you do is take a note of that Drives make and model number and then search on the DRIVE MAKERS website for options on support software (EG Firmware Updates).

Hey

I have some problems when pes 2008 load, black screen and the cpu 100 %( when i press ctrl +del, my pc need like 1 minute to show the task manager) when i see in the task manager the procces of pes 2008 i see is set to high priority, when i change to normal priority the game runs fine

My questions is how i can change the defaut priority to normal, maybe in the registry of windows?

My spec are
e6400
2 gigas ram
geforce 8800gts 320 m

the game is working fine with no problem except that there's no commentary in the game ;o(

i can hear the music of the intro vedio, when i select master league for example i hear this music when it's opening BUT there's no Commentary at all in the game (of course i checked commentary volume and so on)

anyone facing this?? anyone can help??..PLZ

Just set your windows speakers setup to 2 or 4 speakers (not surround).

hi all,

i'm using windows xp sp2, centrino duo 1.83 ghz, 1 gb ram and geforcego 7300 on an asus laptop. all .netframework versions up to 3.0 redistributable are installed, and all windows xp updates are up to date. (including xp office sp3)

my problems are:
1- the game freezes anywhere in the first match if I'm connected to internet. i use emule and utorrent kind of stuff, tried to exit all programs(including windows live messenger) and then run the game, but the game freezes if i'm connected to internet(via internal wireless modem), both when it's fullscreen and windowed. what could be the cause?

2-the game worked fine when i'm offline until yesterday, when the game began to freeze again. i tried several times and it generally freezes when i press start(to open in-game menu). if i'm able to get to the in-game menu and make some substitutions, it freezes when substitution cinematic is about to play, or when goal scoring cinematic is about to play etc.

what might be causing these things?

My issue is: I cannot watch the opening cg. after the konami logo,the game just give me a black screen and when i open the task manager which shows pes2008.exe is not responding.so what i have to do is tick the "nullify movie playback" in setting to avoid the black screen.but im wondering why i can't enjoy the cg as i paid 30 quid to get the original copy?!

and second, which is real serious: when i enter any match whatever cup,ml or quick match,whatever setting i made, as long as i was in full screen mode, the gameplay speed is really FAST. i dont mean the rythem of the game but the game speed,hope everyone could understand my poor english here. it runs like insane, players breath like horny horses, i can even hardly see where the balls going...but in window mode it look pretty fine. so i cannot play the proper game in full screen?

and here is my laptop specs:
cpu: c2d 7200 2.0Ghz
gpu: nvidia go 7600gt
memory: 2G
screen: 17' resolution at 1920 by 1200
hd: 200G

so,is that all because im use laptop to play the game or just setting problem?

Graphics card: could be an issue in terms of limiting your resolution/detail level. You certainly couldn't play at the high desktop resolution you use as the card would die on its arse.

The full screen fast gameplay issue is, as far as I'm aware, what you'll suffer if you have vsync enabled in the Settings program. Not sure about the movie playback issue as I've been unable to replicate it.

First post updated with instructions to get PES working with 4GB (definitely works on Vista x64 as I've tested it).

I have the same problem. If you want to see the opening video, disable back the "nullify movie playback" and run the game in your desktop resolution but in "Window" screen mode.
I decided that until someone resolve this issue, I'll play in "Window" mode.
I don't think it's a graphic card issue, since Qas has the same problem with an ATI card.
I do believe it has to do with the executable priority. In window mode it runs as "normal" while in full screen it runs as "high" or "above normal". This messes up my system. Couldn't get it to run as normal with "start /normal PES2008.exe" batch file

My problem

I just installed PES2008 on my PC and it runs EXTREMELY SLOW! And by that I mean that it is only playable on the Low setting. I can not even play it on the Medium setting at 640x480 resolution without a severe drop in the framerate!

My specs are:
* Pentium 4 3.2GHz
* 1.5GB DDR2 RAM
* nVidia 6800 128mb
* Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 (Running kX drivers)
* Vista Ultimate 32 bit

I tried the following:
* Using the 1.10 patch
* Different nVidia drivers (158 and 163)
* Set the preferences in the nVidia Control Panel to: Performance
* Disabled desktop composition
* Ran in compatibility mode
* Don't have DAEMON tools and similar programs
* Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times
* Disabled SuperFetch
* Uninstalled ffdshow

What is bugging me that a friend of mine has the following specs:
* Pentium 4 3.2GHz
* 2GB DDR2 RAM
* ATI x1600 256MB
* Vista Ultimate 32 bit

and he is able to run the game on the High setting at the maximum resolution very smoothly!

I can't believe that I can run games like Age of Empires 3, Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars and the demo of Need For Speed ProSpeed at almost the maximum settings and I can't get a decent playable game out of PES2008!

What am I doing wrong?! I thought I could easily manage to play at the Medium quality setting!
My laptop running built in Intel 950GMA could play on Low easily (although with limitations due to the absence of a shader).

Is my 6800 card THAT slow!?

To give you more details, I tested in fullscreen and in windowed mode with no difference.

My CPU usage while playing did not exceed 50% and it was using around 256MB of RAM ( I had around 56% free physical memory as reported by the task manager).

When I went into the free training mode (with like 4-5 players around me), I was able to play at 1024x768 with HIGH settings with no problems.

My problem still occurs in Exhibition matches. In the exhibition matches when I run with the ball towards my goal (where no other players are present), the game kind of picks up speed again, but then slows down again as soon as I run into crowded areas.

Game Shuts Down

Well, I've installed PES08 one day ago and tried to play it.

At the beggining it was all cool, High Graphics with no lag... no problem. But, suddently, my screen turns blue and with white letters was written there something like: "Your computer will shut down (...) If this is the first time you see this screen reboot and try again (...)".

I've a nVdia Geforce 8600GT (not with the latest driver, I saw the changelog and there wasn't anything realted to my problem so I ignored it).

This problem happened to me a few months ago with the nVidia 6600GT while playing Trackmania Nations, but the problem was solved... don't remember how, really.

If anyone has any ideia on how to help me, please say it >.<,
