This is a very odd thread.

The first part seems to be an argument about which forum member is the oldest and has destroyed the largest number of game controllers from having thrown the controller across the room in a fit of temper.

The second part seems to be an argument about which series is the better one, the PES series or the FIFA series - thank god that we've finally decided to have that debate. I've been visiting forums such as this for years, desperately hoping for a FIFA VS PES debate. Finally it has happened!

Now, finally, I can go down into the cellar and blow my fucking brains out with a shotgun.

Thank you. I love you all. Peace, my brothers.

OMG
How can you say Fifa 08 is like PES6 on first inspection?
It is NOTHING like it.

You misunderstand my meaning.....(which is understandable from what I wrote)

I meant on first inspection, PES 2008 is just a slicker PES6 until you get a bit more familiar with it.

@Barry

Sorry Bazza, but that is just how i feel about Bioshock. Never have liked any shooters based on UNREAL TOURNAMENT engines.....mostly cos they are a pile of doghsit.

Best shooter to date remains BF2 on PC although COD4 looks very promising from the beta that I have played.

Or is it because your taste is that of "a pile of dogshit" as you so eloquently put it? Just throwing that option out there to the masses as you seem oblivious to the notion.

^^ Agreed.
Mat everyone one of your comments I have seen are dogshit.

And everyone of your posts makes you seem like a 15 year old dearranged tosser........ But I managed to keep that to myself....till just now.

Don Sweey.

Look, Bioshock just aint my kind of game...have played it...didnt like....

I aint interested in playing good games cos I have got plenty GREAT games that i can play..... BF2 > FEAR >>>>>>>>>> DOOM >>>>>>>> Manic Miner >>>>>>> Bioshock.

Since PES3, there has not been a single PES game that has not had certain unwanted features in it that have served to drive gamers fucking mental.

The latest offering is no different. Although the game is a bit of a let down to many, it cannot be denied that PES 2008 is still an excellent game. However, in addition to the usual menu options (or lack off) issues there are also the usual gameplay issues. This time round they are:

Ease of Dribbling........(why bother passing when u can just run straight through)
Ease of Freekicks (concede one against CPU and they probably will score)
Keeper's spilling balls (gtf outta my face with this shit....this sucks most of all)

And this is on top of all the usual CPU scripting of games (including stoppage time remaining most likely time to score) and the same old defensive AI flaws which means 2 player games inevitably degenerate into exploit goal excercises.

Will Seabass ever get it right or does he do these things on purpose to ensure addicted fans of the series are ever eagerly awaiting next 'super improved' release?

I'm sorry but weren't you that bloke that started yapping away about the wonder that is FIFA? if so, how the hell can you come up with this crap? You were commenting on PES players not giving FIFA a try and now this is the best you can come up with on PES? Jeez.
first of all there IS a difference between taking on some crappy defender with C.Ronaldo or taking on Nesta with some average player. havent seen one big mistake by a keeper in 30 hours of playing and the FK story is another thing I can't agree on...

So it is not possible to see the pro's and cons of both titles and recognise the advantages they have over each other..

FANBOY ALERT!!

Yes, there is a difference allright....unless the AI just decides to open up and lay on red carpet treatment anyways.

FANBOY ALERT!!

You haven't seen the keeper make a mistake??? Are you playing the same fucking game as everyone else?

I've seen them let their guard down a bit guarding the short corner and get surprised by 85+ shot power. I've also seen a keeper let the ball run through their legs but didn't that happen to Werder Bremen keeper (if i'm not mistaken) last week and three weeks ago in CL? Nothing that's not realistic there... And I've never said there are no advantages with FIFA, I'm just giving my opinion and disagreeing with your statements... Fanboy alert? really?

Well I do agree that BF2 rocks....but surely you can appreciate a great singleplayer game with a great atmosphere?

Yes, I can appreciate a great singleplayer game with a great atmosphere, FEAR, Far Cry, Gothic 3 (as bug ridden as it was). But Bioshock, no. Its alright, but no more than that. I have never ever been a fan of the Unreal Tournament engine games...Just dont like em...too flash, not crisp enough gameplay.

Mind you, I am probably quite hard to please when it comes to FPS games. I thought Half Life 2 was shit n all (compared to other games I could be playing)....couldnt be arsed completing it.

A professional keeper will make very few shocking blunders that will lead to goals over the course of a 15-20 year career. In ProEv 2008, the keepers are throwing the ball into their own net every second game. This is not realistic at all. It is like saying that PES cut-back goals are realistic just cos you seen a Champions League goal that game from a winger dribbling the ball in and cutting it back last nigt on the tele. Well, 90% of PES goals (competitive 2 player anyhow) come from those situations whereas in real football, perhaps only 10% of all goals come from the same situation. Reason being that in real football, dribbling 60 rings around defenders before laying the ball of for easy goal is actually a very hard thing to do. Not so in PES. Therefore, not realistic.

gameplay is good

The gameplay is good but I used to like just mucking around with the training challenges. But now there gone too, hopefully they will get there act together soon, like with a patch or with the next version, 09.
Here's hoping.

MatTheCat: Just so you know, on every post you have made in this thread, i couldn't have agreed more. and even tho you get a lot of flame, i think most people do=). But maybe it's more the kind of people who have learned that it is about impossible to get some* of the complete idiots on forums like these, to understand jack shit.

I wouldn't even have been here to make a post, if it weren't for the fact that pes2008 on xbox live is so laggy, that konami really should be ashamed.
Wich by the way brings me back to topic .. I have just moved away from where i grew up, and all my friends that were good in pes, and seeing that the online feature sucks so hard it hurts, yes, pes2008 is a pile of dogshit for me, until the day i can play online, without lagging so much that my players take 1.5second to respond. (btw, can anyone confirm the fact that if i buy it for PC tomorrow, the lag will be at least a little bit better?).

And yeah .. maybe you find boishock fun to play .. i find tetris fun to play, and i find hook a loogie fun to play.
That doesn't change the fact that UT engine is a pile of dogshit.

At last, someone who sees the light!

Last year it took them weeks to get the online caper sorted out and even when it was running 'good' it would stall and stutter all over the shop (the server, not so much the games unless u were playing somebody with shit connection).

You think it's bad on the xbox you wouldn't want to see it on the pS3.

Like most people I was eagerly awaiting PES 2008 and thinking it would be kick asrse, and while there is a game in there somewhere, sadly this title is a very poor release.
The players teleporting on the online PS3 game is just pathetic. The the blurry replays are truly shocking, but the worst thing for me is that I think it looks just terrible.

The players legs blur when they run. There is tearing on the picture as it tries to keep up with the game speed, and the game has a tendency to speed up and slow down just as you are trying to make a run or take a shot.

I was truly shocked when I loaded this game up and found I had bought an inferior Xbox 360 port! (I played the 360 demo, much better frame rate etc)

Mind you, I'm glad I managed not to smash the f***k out of everything after playing it! I'm happy in the knowledge that I really don't need another PES game in my life after this one.

Remember guys, this is their first attempt at Next gen, I'm sure that when 2009 comes out, it'll be a big improvement.

Hopefully Konami and Seabass will act on all the criticism of this release.
