I think what this all basically comes down to is that Konami, Seabass et al are now just fiddling. They have taken things as far as they themselves are capable of taking them. Now they are just rehashing the same old code every year.
It would help if they stopped making a PS2 game every year and started making an actual XBOX360/PS3 game instead, or if they have to, make a PS3 game to scale down rather than the other way around.
For me PES has been shit since PES2008. It has got steadily shitter each year, and it is obvious that no one from Konami has ever read any part of this site, as the same problems that get complained about each year still exist from PES4. I sometimes wonder how much of this years game is still PES4. I wouldn't be surprised if there were still bits of PES2 in the game code somewhere. If you think about set pieces, they have basically been the same since PES4 at least. As bad.
For me if PES2012 isn't a total revolution, I mean a genuine XBOX360 generation game from the core, then Konami have no right to claim they know what they are doing. Unless PES2012 hits the mark, I don't intend to buy another Pro Evo, as this will mean six crap games in a row, with the same old shit spouted every year by Seabass. I and everyone else who wants a realistic simulation football game would just be wasting their money and time.
For me Pro Evo is as good as dead, PES2012 will be rented to see if things are better, but I seriously doubt it, as the fundamental way they go about making the game (scripting, AI cheats, shortcuts, bad referees), is the problem here. Their fundamental philosophy of how they go about making the game is totally wrong and out of date for this generation of hardware.
I call on 2K, anyone, to come in and make a football game with first class GAMEPLAY. I don't care if there are real players or licences, I don't care if the music or the animations are crap, just make the most accurate and fair simulation of football. That is all I want. All I want is my Pro Evo back. Actually I'm gonna reinstall PES3 and see what a good football game looks like
