Pes09 Ign Review!

Actually - I find it quite amusing, that it's "all" the old guys (members before 2005-06) who is starting to criticise PES and starting to give FIFA a nod or two...
And we should be the biggest fanboys of the lot!!!?!? :w00t
That leaves me to ask: Are we really fans of PES or just fans of the most realistic game?

Problem right now is; both games have their pros and cons. FIFA is by far the most "realistic" right now - but still lacks PES way superior physics and individual stats, skills and attributes - which makes PES better in that appartment...

Well if it wasn't for us being fans of the most realistic game in the first place, none of us would be here. Maybe this site should be changed to "football gaming"...

Not liking the bit he mentioned about the sound of the ball and commentary. It also looks like the online isn't an option again this year.

This is frustrating.

Like I have said in another thread Fifa has made me realise that I am not a fan of PES, just a fan of football.

Well - since Messi is godlike in the demo - you can actually take on the entire opposing team... And I'm really not that good in this game, as many of you other guys in here are.

On professional or the highest difficulty, that's not possible. This is 2009 not 2008. I've seen many videos too and taking on the entire defense is not possible.

The reviewer is very stupid. He says shit like fifa menu is si much better.....not it aint its been the same for years now. pes 09 menu is simple and pleasing to the eyes. but here is where the reviewer lost all his credibility.

he says PES 2009 is the most fun football game on the market.....yet fifa gets a 8.9 and pes 8.5.....i though the game thats more fun is the one thats better? i guess he didnt learn the basics for game review.

made some good points about the ball physics and the somewhat lacking CL mode. online play will be fine it might have a lag here or there but once konami launches the game im sure they will use the ful power of the servers.

graphics 7.0!??!?!?!?!?! more like 8.4

They never get their facts right do they. They always make out that PES copied Become a Legend from EA, When it was the other way round!

Some fair points in the review, but a very poor one nontheless.[/QUOISS

ISS Millennium started that didnt it. happy to hear the gameplay is back to its best but ign irritate me sometimes with some of the things they say. Its like they have never played the game before. I just want to play the game now

It makes me chuckle how IGN make Fifa's menu's sound like they're brilliant, when in actual fact, they're annoying and slow to navigate.

People complain that Fifa isn't very responsive on the pitch. Last year they weren't, but this year it's a lot better. Off the pitch though, is another story. It seems like you press X on a menu and it takes a few seconds to work out what you'd pressed. The same goes for making subs etc. :/

At least with PES, making a tactical change isn't some long, drawn out process.

Agreed. I always disliked the Fifa interface. It takes me twice as long to check out someone's stats. At least twice as long to make subs as I have to go into the formation screen. Add slight load times to that. In Pes its bing bang boom.

One thing Fifa's interface has that I wish Pes has is displaying match appearances along with goals, assists, etc. Dunno what stops Konami from showing this as they do keep track of it, displaying it once in a while in pre-match ceremonies.

Mate if you think the most 'fun' game is the better one then you must enjoy playing a very simple game. The reason other guys are saying theyve realised theyre not a lover of pes but a lover of football is because pes used to be the difficult, realistic game whilst fifa was easy and aimed at kids ie 'fun'. Pes has gone from being the greatest game around the most complex footy game and the most realistic. . .i seem to remember last year seabass saying he wants to implement everything he sees in a real game into pes. . .which owuld make me think he is making it realistic but this year after teh criticism 08 got he said that hes never want to make teh best simulation but a game that appeals to everyone!!??? That, imo, is not pes!!!

And as some mentioned above it does look like the old school a lovers of the best game. . .not pes. . . im one of them i gues although it pains me to say it!! i hope and pray, witha new engine pes10 will come back to its best, but i wont hold my breath.

Oh yes it's very possible on top player. You need very quick thinking and a dash of luck but I've done it with Ronaldo, Messi, Eto'o and Rooney. It doesn't happen nearly as often as it does in 2008 though. Also you wouldn't wanna try as often as it really sucks out Ronaldo's and Messi's stamina.

Also, some of the best Pes players might not have the resources or motivation to create and upload videos.

but that's just it ,it looks realistic you'd have to be blind not to see that, espacially with the animations. but the fact that is lacks the phisics and individual stats, skills and attributes that work ofcourse, makes PES the realistic one in my oppinion.
the animations in PES are bad but they work espacially when ur defending and when an atacker passes you on the outside u can make up the ground to catch him unless he is really that agile and fast, because he has to cut inside and because of the animation, stats etc u can make up ground depending on the player ofcourse and catch him.
so i'm thinking if you made every player the way FIFA did this would be gone every player in FIFA is agile and can turn on a dime and i have to admit it's nice to watch but it doesn't feel realistic.
most people also say that the stadiums in FIFA LOOK BETTER well i don't have the full game but if i compare the two demo's i like the stadiums in PES BETTER.
And when i'm watching a replay then things like faces, shoe's, the gras and different body types really matter to me and again PES really deliver's in that department but that's just my oppinion.
FIFA HAS ALL THE LICENSES and great ANIMATIONS but that about sums up FIFA for me.

i think you need to play fifa without being biased cos of the name. . . . .yes pes was the game that introduced player attributes etc but this yr fifa has taken the and taken it to a new level. when playing online its impossible to beat man u with wigan unless your very very good, you would need to play long balls to heskey and make the best use you can out of his strength. . . fifa has implemented players strengths and speeds brilliantly. body type are very evident in fifa and the things that matter to you like boots and grass are better in fifa! yes the faces look good on pes but thats cos its simple 2d mapping. . . .you can easily put ur own face using these techniques on the old pc versions. and whats the 90 degree turns that the players keep doing on the new pes? its terrible fifas players run in the direction you point them, no need for supercancel cos you always control where they run, you control evry aspect of passing shooting lobbing and thru balls if you make the controls manual. . .giive fifa a chance and if you like REAL footy you will realise this year it has taken pes' crown. it might seem boring at first but in what real game do you see 28 shots on goal between the two sides. . . .never

U make it sound like PES 2009 is an arcade game where you score at will. I played FIFA 09 and while its the best fifa, its not nearly as good as PES 2009.

when u talk about the old difficult PES you must be reffering to PES 5 or 6 maybe even 4? well since u point out things like how ppl realized that they love true football and not pes let me also point out that PES2009 has been linked to pes5 since it was first play tested! now if im not mistaking, pes5 was difficult and realistic.

btw about that seabass interview.... i hope you realize that KONAMI likes money so of course they will tell seabass to say things like WE WANT TO APPEAL TO EVERYONE....that way more ppl will buy it of course. But let a newcomer play the game on Proffesional and will see how long he puts up with it if hes not a true football fan.

think before you speak....and if u like fifa then fuck off this website and go to your fifa forums.

Well the same happened in pes 5. If you're good and lucky, you can do it but it requires skill unlike in 08. It happens in reality too.;)

Why is FIFA Realistic?? Scoring Easy Goals, Repetitive Gameplay?? And again, Unsatisfying Goals? I'm sorry but I think Older versions of PES are closer to Football.

The Animations in FIFA are realistic -but- the Gameplay isn't.. Football isn't that Dull.

FIFA can offer the best "Build Up" Play, but if Goal Scoring isn't Satisfying everything else Fails. Plus, every player feels the same in FIFA.. How can that be considered Realistic??

i cant understand why they have given it less than 08, they wont admit that they over marked pes 08 like other websites. The comment that they will play be a pro more than the master league is ludicrous as well
