** PES4 is based on luck **

From day 1 I had a very bad feeling about PES4. It's an amazing game, but it's not PES1, PES2 or PES3. The game is based on luck, not skill. The arrows, the momentum etc ... I'm playing for 6 months, my friend played against me yesterday in his first time in his life, and he won 5-3. Yes, he controls the stick perfectly and is one of the best FIFA players in the world, but damn I'm a good player. We played 20 games, he won 40% of them, in his first day.

What i'm trying to say ... I'm the only one that knows the fact this game is pure luck? and what aspects effect this luck?

* If you are going to comment on the fact he won in his first day, don't. Only good comments please.

I agree that.....

BAHHHHHHHHHHHAAHH!!! A rookie kicked your ass!!!!!!!

Now seriously, if he's a great FIFA player, and he's really good with the controls, then yeah, maybe you also had a crappy day, but if he'd managed (you said 40% which makes 8 matches out of 20, but what if he had like 5? That would've been OK...) So my point is that:

1. Like Zyg said (which is also true in real football)
2. Beginners luck (I'm the universe backgammon champion and I lose to first timers all the time)

But... The game isn't based on luck. If you do everything right, you usually win it. Also - depends how you perform under pressure, etc..

Dude, he starts with 3 players with a red arrow, and I start with 2 with grey ... Dude it's luck, the game is more luck then skill.

Is there any chance that he beat your ass because your shite at the game that was the first thing that came into my head. When i play my mates i try to slow the game down take it past them by not running all of the time and just loosing it straight away so i keep my finger off the r1 button most of the time when i play my mates.

Even when using the same arrows, it's down to luck.
Random arrows is the work of the devil. I prefer not to use random arrows - to make it more of a level playing field.

If you think the same, I know I'm right. :)
Just our opinion ;)

Yep, but in tournaments it's random, so I win three games, and lose the 4th due to shitty arrows.

I'll wait for PES5.

well you say you're a good player, but what if he has better build-up of play than you do? or what if his style play coincidentally focused on your weak point? and i stick to what fluke88 said, against the cpu everyone is a champion but it's not the same with human players; there's pressure on the thought of loosing. the first few times i played human players i realised how different it was. a mate of mine, and he's extremely bad, plays a lot on the wings and he really knows how to score from the wings because he knows how to use manual formations extremely well. look at your mate and see why he scores. maybe you had very slow or short defenders or because you try to showboat and all he does is play plain and simple but effective.

I agree with you (Rapter) somewhat. PES3 seemed to require much more skill. Yesterday for example, I played a guy who chose Inter Milan, every single time he had the ball in my half he played a through ball, which seem far too much of a success in PES4. He drew with me 2-2, after a string of great saves from Toldo, and 2 goals from Martins, from through balls surprisingly .

In the previous PES titles, you could never seem to score goals or create chances so easily. Just press through ball and it seems you'll find your player most of the time, there's no real skill or realism in that. Maybe i'm not doing something correct while defending, but it seems impossible to stop.

Still a amazing game though :D

Dude, I won the Israeli championship in PES1, 2 and 3. I played against very strong PES players, so it's not a cpu thing. It's simply the fact PES4 is not good as the other ones, beceuse a few things are so important that luck is the most important factor.

well in that case, why didn't you write something in the pes5 suggestions thread  . i partly agree with you though, pes4 is a bit strange; sometimes i'm trashing, sometimes i'm being trashed, and then i destroy them again. very inconsistent play. and maybe pes has some random decisions in programming, for example your mates scores 5 long shots, and all you get are 5 posts, that's what happened to me once and i got pissed off because he never even scored a shot outside the box in his life

Yep. I can shoot from the same spot 5 times, 3 times it'll hit the post, 2 time scores. The game is luck.

i don't want to fall into controversy now :D , but that is true, but about how your mate managed to beat you if you're so good, i just can't understand

I totally agree with raptor! I think that PES4 is nowhere near as good as the previous titles due to how you can lose a game that you dominated! I admit that I have never won a match in PES4 against a mate without having the lucky breaks & any time I lose it is because my mates had the lucky breaks. It better change back in future versions because at least in the first threee PES games I normally won games without luck & just pure skill which is the way it should be!

i think that raptor is crap and doesn't actually know how to play pes4. But if he is dat good in FIFA, he would be alright shooting and dribbling and stuff. JUST NOT FREE KICKS

I wouldn't say it's luck losing to rookies etc...

I think it's down to having to adjust you're style of play in response to theirs. I have hell after playing my dad for lets say 2 hours, then playing my bro...I have to change my play dramatically.
