PES5 Demo Impressions Thread

I still think the replay length needs to be extended, and replays should not reset after a goal, because I've skipped through several goals I wanted to look at again by accident. I know, it's my fault for not paying attention, but still, for those of us who somehow keep making those mistakes, show us some love!

You are so right about replays length. I wonder why there are games like NFS and Collin McRae(sp) Rallie where you can replay the entire race and in this one you can barely watch 20 seconds...

this is an impressions thread and i dont think "cool demo!!!" is an impression...

anyways, the shooting is ALOT easier than in PES 4 wich i think is a downside..and the movement is just weird :(

quite true, or maybe i just need to decrease the resolution. Whatever it is, it is better than PES4 and PES3. It's a new perspective to the game.

My own impressions of PES5, having bought all previous games in the PES series, are quite mixed. On one hand i really like some of the improvements we see in the Demo (animation, difficulty, more realistic pace) but to be honest i would have like to have seen the overall graphics be improved slightly. We all want Gameplay...and PES has always provided this..but it would be nice to see a little more glitz (a la FIFA) to go with it. And Please, Konami, Fix That commentary!!! I am tired of scoring a super goal, in normal time only to hear the commentators comment "And So ends the first period of Extra Time..No goals yet"

Thats My two cents :)

i was impressed with the demo.

one thing i have noticed is that when u bring the keeper out for a one on one he doesnt come sliding out anymore but just follows the player about. Chelsea keeper Cech even got sent of against me in the demo that rarely ever happens

Has anyone noticed how unbalanced the game is?

I found defense to basically be meaningless. If I would play a defensive formation with a back four, I don't get much possession and I give up goals (with Chelsea).

Then... I changed to a 2-1-2-5 (yes - five strikers, two defenders, a DM/CM, and two AMs) and I almost always win by a few goals (in a 15 minute half).

Looks like I'll be playing with at least three strikers all the time when I get the full version

I find this all to be a very obvious and important obsevation, and suprised to not have found any mention of it in this thread or any others, including when I mentioned it a few days ago in the formations thread.

Keeper gone

I played the new demo (with voice) a lot of times. In one game I just played until the 20th minute and i noticed their keeper was gone, so i took a shot on goal but it went wide. Then what to do........ Their keeper still gone and a goal kick.......... hmm, COME ON RELEASE DATE!!!

what pisses me off is a situation when you start your counterattack and you make a long through-pass on side to your winger, and he just jump over the ball and is out  i tried to receive the ball with R2, but it sometimes doesnt work... in real life winger hardly ever (for example Robben) would let the ball just go out.

and i have such feeling: if you are counterattacking - if ANYTHING can go wrong, it will go wrong... and i have a feeling the super cancel worked better (faster?) in pes4.

but pes5 rulez, i hope that i only have to learn how to play it :)

When you get more used to timing the passes better, it will happen less. Though it's quite frusturating and happens too easily.
I find L1+triangle to work more often when passing to the winger like that.

The game is awesome. This is the greatest improvement in PES serie, to me. Ball physics is beautiful and its control by players is much more real than before.
This is the first time that a new PES give me a so good impression. It seems to have made a 3-4 years jump in the future.

One big dislike I'm getting is lack of control of a defender on free/corner kicks in the box. I'll try to position him to head it away, but often the player automatically runs away, or my cursor automatically changes to another player (when I have it set on manual)

I have played a lot of games since the demo came out, and i learned to dislike this game, mostly because its not real enough. Im tired to see unfairness in all the matches i play, even in 1*. If you look carefully, you´ll see that every time CPU uses a defender (in this demo every defender is top class) the guy rarely miss a ball, and this can happen every game, no matter how many you play in a row. Of course, if you are the one controlling the team, your defenders are complete animals, and even the tiny Aimar can win an aerial ball from them. The offsides are something else in this game though, you just need to be on line with the defender to be called off, wich makes through balls almost impossible. I know konami guys want to add realism to the game, but its not real to take the skill out from players like zidane or ronaldo.. they, as many more, are taken away from the ball very easily.. and by the way, is there a way to tip the ball forward, but not necessarily dashing?

I hate to see the CPU knowing my moves, and getting away from my tackles, making good use of the poor clipping. In pes4, for example, clipping was not an issue. In this demo it is.

Finally, id like to say that even all of this annoyances, its the best football game on the market, so konami guys dont blow it, maybe too real its kinda boring dont you think?

its a huge improvement compared to pes4 ..by a mile...it adds realism into everything , fluid character movement , u have to think more in the version as u cant simply pass the ball around coz he will just mis hit the pass ....shooting is harder and keeper is not stupid anymore thank god..no stupid lob goals.....defenders are more clever and tougher...as for the easy foul...well simple ...just dun keep pressing X all the time...time it when u want to press X ...once u get the hang of it ...u wont notice the diff... pes5 is brilliant...

waylando you need to play the game more if you're letting aimar win headers.

also, try playing vs. a very good human oponent and the game will be played how it should :)
