Dawson for Tottenham is a great young centre back easily better than Kompany and Mahelnandes he is a great midfielder.

this might sound stupid but ben alnwick of sunderlands has a real chance of been the best keeper in the game.

Yohan Pele (GK for some French team) has a potential peak of about 97!!! And i'd never even heard of him! He must be related to one of the makers of the game or something, lol!

Just spotted him aswell.

He's a great young prospect.

By the way, also added Alnwick, Yohan Pele and Dawson.

And Top Gun, which position does Mahelnandes play in? You said he's a midfielder but what kind of midfielder is he exactly? Attacking/Defensive etc?

A couple of strikers I should mention are Forlan and Owusu-Abeyie.

Both are pacy with great finishing abilities.

EDIT: Added Forlan, Owusu-Abeyie and Mahelnandes.

Discovered a couple more gems today.

Marchand; a teenage left sided midfielder/winger. He reaches his peak (bottom of the red shaded area) at 22 years old and stays there for 5 seasons!

Oliver; a teenage defensive midfielder. He doesn't reach his peak until he's 30 years old and again stays at his peak for at least 3 seasons. His peak is just below the red shaded area but there's plenty of time for him to turn world class.

Both have been added to the list.

I bought Hoyte, Glen Johnson & Huth thinking these guys would come good unfortunately there Stats go up very slowly hence not being on your list at all. I am currently 4 games from the end of the season (pre season) and I am going to get rid of all dead wood 'Ko_nami' once again good thread, but who out of the Defenders you have named peaks quickly and is quality straight away I have Heitinga already. Cheers.

One point tho Van Der Vaart is a funny one he is still quite young on this game and altho he starts well he dips after the 1st 2 seasons but later on his stats go back up again (have a look at his graph) whats your thoughts on him??

For centre-backs, Felipe and Coloccini develop quickly. As for side backs, Mathieu develops pretty quickly.

The key for developing your players as quickly as possible is determined by the steepness of the curve. So if you see a straight line, the player will not develop but if you see a sharp line going upwards, the player will develop quickly.

As I said, check the curves of players like Coloccini, Felipe, Mathieu, Mascherano, Schweinsteiger and Mancini and you'll see that they don't necassarily have the highest development curves (nor are they the youngest). But, what you will see is a steep line going upwards. And this is where the fastest development occurs.

Similarly, if a player's curve has a sharp line going downwards, his stats will deteriorate fast.

I've seen his curve and I'm not convinced yet if he can turn world class or not. I mean, I'm into my 3rd Master League season right now, and I've noticed that his stats have just started to go up. He now has a few low 80's and a lot of high 70's.

I'll see how he develops over the next 2 seasons and then maybe I'll think about adding him to the list.

Just to point out, there are other players out there with similiar curves. Van Der Meyde, Forlan, Kleberson, Veron and Mutu all have similiar curves to Van Der Vaart's. They go down sharply before going up sharply again. The differences between each of them being that some of their curves are higher than other players. E.g, Forlan and Kleberson have similiar curves but Forlan's curve is closer to the red-shaded area and thus has a higher potential.

Unfortunately when I bought them I didn;t have the info that you have now produced and R Huth has got the potential in real life and thought he must be good - I have taken a print off of your list and gonna buy a few players in the pre-season. I would rather buy younger players than older quality players on the down.

By all means, carry on buying and playing young players. But, you should especially look out for the players whose curves are close to the red-shaded area and they have an extremely steep curve.

A development curve like this is what you should look for in a young player.

Felipe and Coloccini have curves similiar to the above.

(Sorry about the poor quality of the image - it was something I drew quickly in Paint).

Added Messi.

Not too sure about Djibril Cisse and Whitbread. I'll check them out later.

I've also discovered a couple more gems.

Iniesta at Barcelona is a great young prospect. He gets stats like 95 Dribble Accuracy, 95 Short Pass Accuracy. A lot like Joe Cole and similiar to Sneijder.

Also, Henricksen deserves a mention. He's basically a carbon copy of Isaksson. Both tall, similiar curves, similiar growth and both Swedish. The big differences being that Henricksen enters the game as an 18 year old and he has stats like 79 Defence, 82 Balance, 84 Response, 80 Jump and 85 Keeper skills. That's right, 85 Keeper skills! Which means that if you sign him straight away, he'll eventually develop 99 Keeper skills.

Very few goalkeepers in PES5 develop Keeper skills 97 or above. So make sure you look out for Henricksen.

Thought I'd add a few of the master league youth into the debate. How about:

GK - Wood - Peaks about 89
CB/CBW - Bos - Peaks 97
Midfield and up-front - Shimizu - Peaks 95
CF - Orellano - Peaks 95

Also of the normal players try Vagner Love and Adu (buy them from the shop). Both peak around 92, Adu starts aged 16 and gets there by 26 and Love starts aged 21 I think, and gets to 92 by age 29.

I've got a thread in my sig which I am trying to make into a decent database of newcomers, but it never really took off.

Added Wood, Bos, Shimizu, Orellano, Vagner Love and Adu.

I just thought I'd mention that this thread is a combination of promising players (that exist in real life) and promising players which are generated by the game (ie. don't exist).

this is a quality thread. but its been a while since any activity so here´s a few more that i don´t see mentioned.

CB: A. Hughs (aston villa & N. Ireland) His curve goes v high though his aerial ability needs a bit of work.
AM: A. Hleb (Arsenal & Belarus) After three seasons of ML (2 with my team) his top speed & acceleration are both 95 and his dribble speed and accuracy are something similar but i cant remember what exactly.

Something i find useful for scouting new players is to do an advanced search for the position you want with these restrictions: Age (something like) 15 - 25; Consistency & Condition 6-8 & 6-8 ; Mentality 70 - 99 and Agression 70 - 99 as these stats dont change (except for age - Duh!) the potential superstars will have these stats high even when they are young. Its worked well for me so far.
