PES5 pros and cons

I don't get all of the complaints about fouls. It always seemed realistic to me. This isn't gridiron football...
If anything, it's too lenient. I'll often get two or three yellow card fouls in a match that probably deserved a red in real life.

Pro - Passing and movement is superb.
- Player response is getting almost spot on.
- Flow of the play is getting more accurate

Con - What's with the attackers being so deep on certain free kicks?
- Corners are rubbish. Only 3 in the box?
- The ability/accuracy in the final 3rd isn't consistant with someone in the middle of the pitch. It's not me fluffing shots!!

I'm highly confused why still, after pes3 and 4, a defender automatically builds a wall on a free kick, when it's over 30 yards out. Even over 40meters, they still make a wall.

Does the Game run slow in the PC demo with sound or is it just me!? Its like a bunch of tutles runnig around on the pitch

pros:better animations, better striking of the ball, harder.
cons:free-kicks are WAY too easy (i scored five out of five on my first go on the demo!!)...also, like the guy said earlier the shooting from distance is too easy aswell....other than that a real good improvement.

edit : for an example, if i am running on the counter attack and some meters past the middle of the field, and one of my attackers ahead of me with the nearest defender being clearly unable to catch him, and i pass the ball through and in the air, I expect the player to actually pass it properly, and not aim for the other team's goal keeper.

The key's in your statement. "I'm running". Does any player make a chipped thru ball while running IRL. I think not. Slow down/stop,then do it. It'll come off perfectly when using a player with good passing skills.

In fact the thru balls in PES5 have been made easier when compared to WE9. And coupled with the opponents defence being better spaced out, you actually can pull them off easier then in WE9.

Pro's

For those who only play PES series. Its so much better than PES4. Get it now.

For those who've played import here's the pro/cons when compared.
PES5 vs WE9
Pro's
+ Better organized defences. (WE9 tend to rely on packed defences)
+ Opponent defence and midfield dont play too deep.
+ Updated stats/rosters
+ improved super-cancel
+ better through balls
+ lesser fouls
+ better pick up and play fun
+ easier crossing

Con's
- faster pace
- ball feels lighter
- players collisions/pushing exaggerated (bounce off more)
- ball control seems more difficult in tight quarters (bobbles more)
- animations seem jerky/less smooth (lesser frames ??)
- camera zoom/angle doesn't suit the faster gameplay (although same as WE9, but slower gameplay didn't make it so cumbersome)

IMO it's a great game, but those looking for more realistically paced gameplay will enjoy WE9 more. Year in year out iots the same for me, I get both, but in the end the feel of PES is just always a bit 'off' to me.

Guess I'll end up going back to WE9 again. Just wish I could bring the better organised defences with me.

Cheers.

I've been playing the demo for the last couple of weeks and so far feel, like the majority of other players, that it is far superior than PES4. I love the dinks and rebounds, the little passing inaccuracies which make the game feel far more authentic. The increase in fouls doesn't really bother me that much to be honest, your average real life football match contains a shed load. There is slightly more curve on the ball which can result in some fantastic goals and creative play. Overall I am very impressed and can't wait for the release of the PC version.

I do feel that the game has some faults though which annoy me slightly. I don't know if this has previously been mentioned by another poster, but one thing that irritates me is the goalkeepers handing when saving freekicks. Watch the goalkeeper carefully on replay when he makes a save on his line. He dives, saves the ball on the line, and if you watch carefully when he is picking the ball up he is holding it over the line. I know its petty, but now that I have seen it a couple of times its always there.

I feel that there is slightly too much power in the headers aswell. I've scored a couple of headers on the edge of the box with Henry that hit the floor with so much power that they bounce over the keeper and go in. I've done the same with a couple of other players. Just doesn't seem overly realistic.

It would be nice aswell if the offsides weren't so strict. Every linesman makes a mistake here and there in real life yet even if your only a whisker offside in PES5 you'll get called on it.

In future releases I'd like to see the ref and linesman actually make a mistake here and there. I'm sure Konami can program something into the game where only 8 out of 10 offsides are called. I'd also like to see a bit of shirt pulling.

Just some of my thoughts on the game anyway :)

Although I've found offsides to generally be strict... I did have one odd experience. A thru ball to Ronaldo... only one leg was in line with the last defender... the rest of his body was completely passed. But he was onside!

I remember not even running with the ball at first, as I expected the whistle to blow.

pro's: game play better, smoother graphics with AA and AF on full, licenses

cons: if you stand behind a defender it auto charges into them and you give away a FK. cannot find any pc versions yet.. T_T

got the game today I have to say that the first impression is that its not what I was expecting it to be.
Game play was not better, Im very very disappointed, players falled like drunken alcoholics & where slower than injured turtles, I tryed many teams with different players but it was the same, Gameplay is utterly crap, CPU players are still faster in everything than you, not to mention the defensive issues have not been fixed or improved. Movements are slow as hell.......argggggggg.
Now to the Positive sides, the training is improved, some more positions but hell it doesnt matter when the gameplay is slow & crap......
Damn, I´ll stick to PES4.
