Sorry but the true next-gen PS3 game will be far superior to the 360 game (I'm talking PES7 here). Purely because the Xbox is nowhere near as big as Playstation in Japan so they will focus on making the game first for PS3, and then porting to 360.

I doubt that mate ... Are you telling me that Konami are going to create a new game just for the PS3? I am willing to bet both my balls that the PS3 will be a port of the 360 - It takes Seabass and his boys a whole year to just get 1 game engine running on all consoles (ie. PS2/XBOX/PC & PSP) - I don't think that they will start a new engine for the PS3 alone, expecially as we all now that they are working on the 360 version - if there was a PS3 version in development it would have been announced.

I'll wager my balls again that the 360 version will be released by Nov 2006, and then the PS3 port will be around in Summer 2007 in Japan.

Well that's obvious.

Hitman was talking about PES7 not PES6.

Even so, Davinche made a valid point. EA and Konami have been copying off each other for a long time now - I'm talking years not months. It's certainly not news.

Year by year, I'm seeing new features in PES/WE that were in FIFA and vice versa.

Now that is what you call a rivalry. ;)

I think the days of games companies being loyal to a particular format are over. Most games now are multi-format so you'd think that Konami would invest as much time in the 360 version as they would for the PS3 and PC. Fair enough, in Japan the PS3 will be far and away the market leader with their loyalty to Sony and all that, but in the USA and Europe the market share between the 360 and PS3 will be more even.

Konami would ignore the 360 at their peril. It has the best online set-up after all.

PES6 or PES7 - really makes no difference - it's just obvious that Konmai are gonna sow the seed via the XBOX 360 and then port to PS3. When PES7 does make an appearance on PS3 it will be an "evolved" version of the 360 PES6 engine.

And again I bet my balls that PES7 on 360 or PS3 will be identical.

I have to agree. We all know Konami are a little unadventurous and as the Xbox 360 is easier to program for, they'll get the ball rolling on that platform.

Its got port written all over it. Something the PS3 fanboys will refuse to accept.;)

Well, I wouldn't actually class any console version as a port. Konami will work on a next-gen engine for ALL next-gen consoles and simply release it on a multi-formet like that do with each version of PES.

The first true next-gen PES will be PES7 and will be identical on both PS3 and 360. Neither will be a port.....except for the PC version.

On a side note, I do expect the 360 version of PES6 to look a little smarter then its 'cousins' current-gen version. That's a given. Perhaps a few more aesthetical additions here and there, but the gameplay will be the same.

Seabass has always said thepS controller is the best way to play PES/WE so imo, all PES games are based around Sony technology and as such, I believe PES 7 will be made predominantly for the PS3 then ported to the 360.

What you need to think is that the WE isn't available for the xbox in Japan, and that is where PES very much comes from.

How anyone can play PES with an xbox joypad is beyond me. Gameplay is not the same with that.

The 360 pad has an almost identical button layout to the dual-shock, and its just as comfortable, so i don't see a problem.

I've not played PES on a 360 but the controller is pretty good for other games. I'm sure it'll be the same for PES6 too.

For the 2nd time, Neither game will be a port of the other. Not if they're developed simaltaneously.

Since WE10 came out earlier than usual, April, its should be radically different, its what I expected. In that magazine they say its comin out for PS3 too, whether thats true or false its still good to hear. Eitherway, cant wait to get my hands on it. PS2 version day of release, standard.

Its the triggers dude. You can't use both shoulder buttons effectively at the same time on the XBOX/360 controller (like you can R1 & R2 on PS2) and thats where the skills come from. Also I use d-pad to control to be more tight with the dribbling but on XBOX/360 controllers the d-pad is poor and is incorrectly placed for me playing PES. I will always play better with a PS2 pad than an XBOX/360 pad.

The 360 version of PES6 will probably look no better than the PC version on high resolutions.

Some of the games that have been released on the ps2 and the 360 are different in terms of graphics, like the new hitman on the 360 looks pretty good and it aint using the whole potential of the console so the graphics on the pes6 360 version should still look pretty good.

You might as well buy one of these

I agree that the PS2 contoller is better designed, it will even cradle back into the palm of your hands so you barely even need to hold onto it; you can just sit it in the palm of your hands and concentrate your fingers on hitting the buttons only.

I don't have the problem you do with the triggers on the 360 controller though, I think they're more than adequate, but I can't use the bumpers very well either and the dpad "is incorrectly placed for me playing PES" aswell, but I would say it's 'horses for courses' with the 360 controller.

My fingers are so long that I am not very comfortable when 'hitting' the bumpers :)L1: & :R1: position, but with :L2: & :R2: functions) or the d-pad, but friends with shorter fingers find it perfect. Infact I even prefered the - much hated - original Xbox controller to the S contoller, and the original controller was bigger than the small PS2! The definition of co-operative play with that controller for little kids when they played with it was that one kid scaled the left face of the controller and hit those buttons while the other did the same for the right side! I'm sure I even heard one kid refer to the tigger as the "foot pedal"...... ;)

are you mad? pes is 100000000% better than fifa, and pes 6 is using the same engine as xbox one simply cus its on the xbox and 360 the only difference is updated graphics/marketplace/ a few things the old xbox cant handle etc. pes 7 on 360 will truly be next gen cus by thne old xbox will be dead. and pes on ps3 will be pish just similar to xbox 360 but with out the content download etc, so pes 6 on 360 will be differnt in looks but not style. final!

No Im not saying FIFA is better then PES. There not even on the same level. But that’s partly the problem. Now that PRO is on top not just in terms of game play but also in sales, seabass has stopped taking the innovative turns and jumps in the series. Since pes3 I have found pro interchangeable. Now that may not be konami’s fault, as by pes3/4 or Winning eleven 8/9 they may have basically got as much out of the ps2 that they could. And since they do not make games natively on the Xbox platform the franchise has stopped being innovative.

My point exactly. The next true pro game will be pes7 or the first winning eleven games for ps3. This is when I personally will see if seabass is still bothered in pushing football games forward, or If they only see the profit revenues from making the same game again. It will not be pes6 on the 360 because seabass in particular seems not to even care about the Microsoft or Xbox at all, he doesn’t even refer to it when talking about the next gen version of PES.
They were happy with it just on the ps2 it’s only because of the fact that konami the publishers, have control over what seabass does, that they made PES for xbox, because thy wanted more money. Also the 360 sales in Japan are non existent (It does worse than the ps2, gamecube, ds, psp and GAME BOY ADVANCE in Japan) and winning eleven is not released on 360, so pes6 for the 360 will be the same as the ps2 version but better graphics. (How much is also uncertain)

There will not be pes6 on the ps3, but it will not be until the new ps3 version comes out that they will 'maybe' make a new engine. However as I say above there is a strong preference for the ps3 and they will not even bother making a new engine till it’s on the ps3. Though your right that more and more companies are now realizing being exclusive to one platform makes little sense, this is not the case with seabass. He prefers the playstation. And with winning eleven not being on the 360, it means that they will definitely not be making a new engine for the 360 version of PES, until the ps3 comes out.

Not entirely true Jamez. Like I said before in lots of cases developers are indeed realizing this, and are making smart decisions doing so. But this is not the case with seabass. I dont know what it s about him and xbox. But I don’t think he even likes their being a PES on xbox. Sometimes I think he doesn’t even acknowledge it. An example is that he said that with ps3 online abilities they will make a good online PES. However xbox live has been doing what ps3 online promises for 6 years now, so why do we have to wait till sony sort out their online till we have it? In fact as you may know xbox pes5 is WORSE then the ps2 version online mode. That is really weird because xbox lives online is A LOT better then ps2 online system, and yet its worse. Now we have to wait for the ps3 online one, which is unproven, and frankly cannot compete with the 6 years of development that xbox live has gone through. Whatever the case he does prefer playstation, and 360 owners like you and me will have to wait till ps3 comes out so they can try and make a new game with good online.

Also the 360 pad is just as good as the ps3/ps2 one n my opinion. It takes time to get used to it if you are familiar with the ps2 one, but overall I find the 360 one better. However just as jonno said PES is made for the Playstation and the controls are made in mind for the dual shock 2 pad, so in theory it should always be better on the dual shock pad. The xbox1 was not good because of the placement of the black/white buttons. But triggers are better then buttons, and if they used triggers it could be used to determine how hard your lob shots are instead of having 2 buttons for the small lob and high lob. But because of the preference for the dual shock pad, we again have to wait for the new dual shock 3 pad, which does have triggers, before they can think of this.

The only reason it doesn't seem out in Japan yet is because 'its not ready yet' but will be coming out....

Seabass also believes that Pro Evo will help shift the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live in Japan when it launches – a view backed up by Ninety-Nine Nights producer Sangyoun Lee. “I think we’ll help the Xbox 360 in Japan because our game is so great!” laughed Seabass modestly. Knowing what most of Japan seem to think of the 360, it's could well be true that Seabass is being forced to make the Xbox games but he has got some very nice online plans for this iteration of PES which I'm salivating at....

Pro Evo’s mercurial creator, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, has big plans for the next-gen versions of his footballing franchise – specifically with regard to online play.

Speaking to Famitsu magazine, he highlighted a desire to realize 11 vs. 11 play over Xbox Live and has now revealed the next stage in the ‘evolution’ of Pro: An online Master league.(http://www.oxm.co.uk/articles/news/sports/pro_evos_master_league_to_go_live)
