My PS3 is showing early signs of YLOD. Earlier today, I turned on my PS3, and right away, the 3 beeps sound off, with the red light flashing. I give it a month maximum, before it's totally unusable. I turned it off from the switch, and it did survive 1.45 hours when I was watching a movie from my hard drive.

I blame LA Noire for this. The fan sound is loud after 15 minutes of playing.

How old is your PS3? Mine is the 80GB one, it has it's moments, but it's fine most of the time. I had quite a hairy moment about 6 months ago, where my PS3 randomly went to blue screen, I think I was on the browser, though I can't fully remember. When I booted it up again, I had to go through all the settings etc, and setting up my PSN account (I didn't have to set up a new account, could still use my current one).

I downloaded Wipeout last night and dissapointed to see it listed as WipeoutHD Demo. Haven't played yet. Split screen really sold me on downloading it.

can't decide what is next. LBW is stunning looking but not sure if I am into the idea of the community game. Dead Nation looked too arcadey but probably will download it.

When you chose to download Wipeout, you should get 3 things to download:

1) The demo
2) The unlock for the full game
3) The Fury expansion pack

If I buy a game on discount price (say a few quid less) on PSN+, when my subscription finishes, would I lose that game completely? That would seem a bit harsh.

No, you keep whatever you download while on + when the subscription runs out - however, if you use their "cloud saving" option, you'll only be able to use the online saves when you re-subscribe.

Thanks - I did download all three but didn't realize #2 was an unlock for the full game. You helped with the negative cynicism I was feeling.

I went with Little Big Planet for my second pick. Not sure if I will play it much but what a different feeling for a game. Makes you feel all warm inside versus blowing a lot of stuff up. Graphics were so unique. Idea of the game is great but doesn't serve my instant gratification needs as sports titles do. As written, I may not play it much but happy I have it. If you just can't decide on two games I would say download this one for something entirely different.

I've already got LBP and I went for Wipeout as my first game. Not sure whether to get Dead Nation or Infamous as my second game - which one do you guys think is better?

I've not tried Dead Nation yet, but I rate Infamous at 7/10 and since it's a retail game rather than PSN (so much bigger with more mileage), I'd go with that.

inFamous is pretty bad imo, but Dead Nation isn't exactly all that either. If you want a small game which is a laugh playing with a mate then Dead Nation is good. inFamous just seems to be another one of those games to me, nothing great at all. Gave up on it pretty quick though, so maybe I'm not giving it the time it deserves? But to be honest, I don't think any game should have to be an acquired taste so to speak. Regretting not getting LBP instead of it now.

The playstation plus isn't exactly great either. Is this what it's normally like, or is it a bit reduced because they know everyone will have it?

Nah this is it. The only thing I like about it is being able to schedule updates at a time that suits me and having online storage, but to be fair, its fairly pricey for £40 a year.

Both greath games, but I'd go for infamous since it's a full retail game rather than a PSN one. You'll get more out of it.
