Xbox live pro evo sucks big time even with the patch, still full of lag its like playing on a 56k modem, controls suck , played a game last night and was lucky to get a response after pressing the pass button 10 seconds earlier!
Some dubious players online as well not sure if some are using modified option files..who knows! ,won 3 games and 3 players quit on me yet because the rankings had changed and i hadnt completed a full game yet due to quitters I got no credit for winning the games.

Lag is still so bad, occasionally a game comes along with no lag but as we are in the broadband era we shouldnt get lag problems like this still

Er... no you can't use modified option files online.

What do you mean you got no credit when they quit - the "quitee" should get a 3-0 win.

But I do agree that pes4 online is quite pants. So much for enjoying playing different people from across the land. This hasn't been good practice for the national league at all. And now my L1 and L2 are switched in my head and I don't know which does what! :D

What I want is:

1. No lag at all.
2. The option to choose manual cursor changing.
3. No punishment when you quit a match early due to unplayable lag (say within first 10 mins). Not that I do, but I know a lot of people want this.
4. More responsive buttons.
5. Ability to skip the replays like in offline mode (offsides etc).
6. Ability to save goal replays perhaps.
7. Some kind of lobby system?

cos the rankings had just changed and I had not yet completed a game it did not register either a win despite the quitters quitting on me.. I then completed a full game as I didnt get to play a quitter and it registered as a win, then I had another player quit on me and then it registered a win for me...but it seems that if you are not yet on the rankings due to no games being played yet and someone quits on you it DOES NOT register a win for you! Aside from this Pro evo on line is still pants, its like playing a game on a pentium 1 processor and an 8mb video card when you play online!

So once you've completed one match, you'll be fine. Not too much to worry about. There were plenty of people from the pes forums online. I don't know why people still play random nobodies who are likely to quit.

I agree, PES4 online is shite. I think I'll just stick to Halo 2 and GR 2 for my xbox live online gaming. Hopefully PES5 online will be better.

To be honest Zygalski, I get the feeling that the online option was thrown together at the last minute by Konami. I think it'll be Pro Evo 5 when online play really takes off in the series. I actually have a 2 meg connection so usually host matches, but people still tell me the game suffers from lag :(

Those would all be fantastic, though may I add the option of playing 2v2 and 4v4 matches would also be a great addition, I usually play with mates round.

I live in hope these features will be implimented in Pro Evolution 5.

Whoever said Pro Evo Live feels rushed is totally right, it's like Konami threw it together at the last minute.

There should be online tournaments like when you play vs the CPU. That wouldn;'t be difficult to host at all. All you need to do is sign in and that would be it. This is what we need in Pro Evo 5

I put that suggestion into a couple of the petitions :)

Also, I'm wondering if it would be possible to watch others when they play - purely as a spectator.

I thought of that one too Zyglaski. And what about the option to save entire matches as replays, and even the possibility of being able to email these to friends? That would be pretty special :)

Why don't we gather our thoughts on all these things, and write a letter from the forums to Konami?

Absoloutley no point.

Well... there would be in the development for PES5, but there's no way you could release a patch which would do any of the stuff we want.

In PES5 I'd love to see a properly made Xbox Live service. I'm talking clans, observers, lobbies, leagues, tournaments, friendlies, unrecorded matches, properly encorporated friends lists... etc.

I hope in the future all XBL titles will have the sort of fluidity of Halo 2, that's a perfect example of how online gameplay should be.

I don't know what Konami's problem is with menus... all of the menus on the game look like aged N64 menus. Of course that's not as important to me as gameplay, but it all makes the difference between a very good football game, and a damn-near perfect football game.

I love the pro evo online, very addictive. i never experience lag when i set up a game, always set it up in fine conditions.... not random because if the rain comes down your gonna start lagging :p give it a try.

Just try joining a game and you will have a good chance to have lag.
If everybody does what you said, they all try to host an there will be no joiners anymore. It's fairer to host and join equally much!

I can only host, if i join a game it lags, i think its because my upload/download speed, when i host its fine, runs nice and smooth and a nice free flowing attacking game of football can be played :p if however i join a game it will lag like fuck.... very strange, pretty sure its something to do with my internet and not the xbox live.... crappy adsl :p

You are not using the internet during play, like downloading or uploading?
Every activity on the internet with the PC takes bandwidth away from Xbox, so maybe that's your problem...

Ive never played PES4 online, but my experience of other games has been bad so i never thought Pro Evo online would be the holy grail that many people made it out to be. Apart from the technical problems, online gaming is full of cheaters and those annoying people who play like robots, with no imagination or sense of fun. I'm sure with online PES4 there are many players who try and score the same formulaic goal every time.

Sometimes yes :)
I 've played twice against a guy who tried to score straight from the kick-off. He tried to dribble his way through my defense using Ronaldinho. He did that more than once, so it was no coincidence. But he dribbled very much; sometimes I wondered if he was aware of his other players :D

trying to dribble through from the kick-off is hardly a cheating way to score every time...
i'm yet to find anything resembling an easy way to score everytime from a certain position. everyone has their own style of play...if they keep trying to use the same tactics, why not react to them and try to stop them?
some people play dirty, some play long balls, some always use the wings.....it's not cheating, it's football.

also, a lot of the suggestions made, though good, aren't really possible with the current setup on PES4....konami did rush it, and they did add it at the last moment...because of this, they haven't used the main advantage of xbox live, which is centralized servers hosting the game. PES4 just creates a peer-to-peer link, which means the 'host' runs the game on their xbox and gets perfect performance, and the client depends entirely on the hosts upload connection....because the game is actually hosted at someone's xbox, you can't have extra players, or people watching, simply because they would all have to connect to the host xbox, thus taking away more bandwidth from the client playing the game.
that's not to say those suggestions shouldn't be implemented on PES5, and nor am I trying to excuse Konami for a shoddy job, just trying to explain why things are like they are...hopefully konami will build the xbox live features into PES5 from the start, and as such tournaments and all the other features will be much easier to implement because the games would be run from a central server.

one last thing, about Zygalski's personal bug bear, the lack of 'manual select'....I actually think this is one thing Konami got right (because of the way they have the online service working), simply because not being able to select the correct player at a critical time is potentially game destroying, and on the occasions when the game lags, stutters, jumps etc... you need to know that the player nearest the ball will be under your control when you maybe don't have full 'control' at the time. I do use manual select offline, but i've never had an occassion where i've been stuck controlling the wrong player online due to the auto select.
