Pretty much all sports video games need some sort of adjustments, and even then they aren't perfect. PES has been the one series that usually gets most things right, and they seem to be building back up to that. It's certainly better than most sports games on the market at the moment.

I will happily agree with everything you just said, but I still think the game's not good enough in its current form....too many damn little frustrating things that cripples play.

Maybe PES11 will be the game that I feel entitled to after paying for PES10.

I hear ya. I'm still able to enjoy it, in spite of the brutal fouls that don't get called, the lack of penalties, the way the ball often ricochets around like a pinball, and the fact that it sometimes looks more like the Keystone Cops than it does world class football.

And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I find that these adjustments help:

The offense is more aggressive, with better spacing, and will actual loft the ball over the defense more realistically. And the backline will engage the oncoming attack a little more.

Try professional. Some say it's harder than Top Player. I have yet to try Top Player, so I can't say if it's true or not.

It's definetly true, in a way.

Professional is easier to dribble, but harder to ping pong pass around a team. Because they aren't pressing so hard and keep their formations better in professional.

A good remedy if you find Professional too easy is to globally edit the Pressing team slider down by 20-25 point then play Top Player. One flaw with this is that you feel somewhat like you're playing against Barcelona every other match, but at least it's challenging.

to be honest the game is what it is... for me its an improvement.. the patches have come and iv been fairly pleased with the improvement to gameplay.. yes the game isnt perfect but if it was then what would be the point in konami selling the game... you cannot have a series with one perfect product? when will it ever become acceptable that you no longer complain.. lets not forget that they have changed the gameplay completely on this game and they have to work harder as we have x-box 360 and ps3 .. these are not easy consoles to write games for.... believe or not konami do not just work on pes... they do have other games to work on.. you pay £20-40 for pes (i paid £23 due to exploiting gamestations price match system ) and it is a decent game to play apart from online which is still disgusting to play... however they have made some improvements master league is somewhat a better format but with developed flaws.. i could go on forever however the point is that they tried to change the game for an overall crowd and the overall crowd are still buying the game... the games difficulty cannot be made rock hard so that you cannot win a single game its called a game it was designed so that you have a chance of winning.. anyways my point is quit bitching move on and grudge the bad points there is a designated area of which you can suggest things for konami to take into consideration for the next game.... if it dont get accepted then tough deal with it .... you dont get paid to make the game .. you pay to play it.. next time wait a month to see everyones opinions before deciding whether do purchase it or not coz the fact is 80% of people who complain they wont buy it again probably will purchase it....... the doctor has left the house..

Exactly, I PAY for it, so I have every right to voice my discontent if I choose to..who the f*** are you to tell me any different. I know Konami have a designated area for feedback but that has as much use as an inflatable dartboard...you would think you actually work for Konami the way you defend it. Thing is 80-90 percent of people who replied in this thread agree with me so Im not the only one who thinks that they have dropped the ball on a lot of aspects of the game..and like I said, I paid for it so Ill bitch about it as much as I like you anus.

They are definitely building back up to that. Since 08 the game has gotten better on the PS3, and 2010 is closer than you think to being very good.

The entire industry is struggling right now with the amount of resources needed to make games, the slow start out of the gate with the new hardware, and the economy in general. I don't expect Konami to not be affected.

I think I have finally come to the end of the road with PES. I have bought the game religously since the days of ISS. Ill get straight to the point. The last few offerings by Konami have been below par, I think most would agree, but after playing 2010 since release I have come to the conclusion that it is shite, plain and simple. I have no time for little idiots who will reply with the pathetic "go and play FIFA" whinings. For the record, I also think FIFA sucks. My reasons for this....hell, how long you got?.

1: Still too easy. I have not lost a Master League (On Top Player) game in two seasons now (first season I lost 6)...I heard about unlocking another difficulty level but in my experience, when you do this, it seems to make it easier, you just pass around the crazy pressing players.

2: Some annoying things--when the ball is in front of you and you are running on to it, you press the shoot button and hope to connect with a rocket shot and your player does that stupid slide on the floor thing and the ball bounces harmlessy into the keepers hands.

3: While Im on keepers....absolutely abysmal would be my assessment of keepers on this game. How many times do they spill the ball into the path of an opposing player?...even when the opposition hoof it up field and it is bouncing harmlessly towards the goalis hands he does some aerial jump and catches the ball!...there are too many faults with the keeper.

4: Long shots!...how many top corner rockets am I gonna score?..the defenders back off you until the last second possible, when you get used of this you can pretty much time it right to smash a long ranger that is accurate as hell 90% of the time.

5: I am playing as Spurs in my Master League, I have bought some great players to go along with the ones already at Spurs (Lennon, Modric etc) but even when I am playing Hull City they seem like Brazil in disguise!...they one touch pass around there defence (even in their own penalty area)...sometimes you dont touch the ball for a couple of minutes or so...this, even when they are 2-0 down FFS!....Its pathetic. It makes the game frustrating to play. Its not because theykeep the ball the reason Im unhappy, because like I said, Im winning these games easily, its just that it is too dumb to describe, that Hull (or any other sub par team for that matter) can play free-flowing football where they dont lose the ball, its real silly.

6: Animations for headers still suck (small gripe but what the hell)

10: I am running down the wing with Lennon...he has 91-94 for top speed and acceleration respectively...he is being chased by a Portsmouth player called Griffin, who has 70-70 as his attributes...he is at least 5 yards behind Lennon but catches up!..GTFOH

11: There is no diversity in the goals no more...the majority of goals are either long shots or from crosses into the box from the wing...gone are the days of slick passing movements, finished off with a killer through ball to a striker who rolls it calmly past the keeper.

12: Through Balls...they suck to high heaven on this game, that goes for floating ones too.

There are also so many little faults with this game that I couldnt fit it into this post...I am a football fanatic so I need my footy game fix but it is really starting to p*** me off.

Im kinda fed up with the game too. I think the biggest problem is the button delay and all the button wierdness. Its hard to pinpoint the problem with it imo. But its like you have to know all the bugs to be able to have a good build up play.

The game is quite good if you modify it properly. Depending on your difficulty settings, team sliders should be edited differently to make up for poor / lazy coding by KONAMI.

Professional:
global +10 pressure
global +20 player support
global +10 defensive line
global -30 attacking style
global -30 compactness

Top Player
global -30 pressure
global +20 player support
global +10 defensive line
global -30 attacking style
global -35 compactness


This will result in more open games in BAL, and also make for a more interesting ML career. More goals, and AI scripting will kick in much less because the AI is able to score regularly without cheating. The Top Player solution is definetly the best alternative, regardless of how "good" you are because it isn't really that hard, just challenging.

Come on. You should know that timing is everything. You're pressing shoot too early.

I agree with blazer, it's mainly a question of timing.

Keepers aren't that bad. Though yeah that jump animation is overused.

Again, I agree with blazer. I remember some PES versions where keepers were way worse. Don't remember the version, but there was a PES where lobbing the keeper was a 100% goal. It was just ridiculous, they had no reflexes at all.

Try boosting "Pressing" and "Defensive Line" for every team. The backline will still back off but not as much.

It really has become easier to put long range tries in the back of the net, especially on counters. But I find it actually pretty realistic that defenders don't just jump on to you when there are other attacking players to mark. Look at real football games, you'll see, when there are counters with +/- the same number of attacking-defending players, the defenders will wait to see what the attacking players will do before risking to open a big gap because they tried a kamikaze move. I like long shots and thought they were too rare on 2008 and 2009.

Boost "Player Support" for each team. This will encourage the computer to push the ball forward more.

I agree 100% with alkemy on this one. It's just ridiculous that some (actually most) CPU teams play ball in their own half when losing 3-0. Which leaves you running to catch the ball like an idiot, for quite a long time if they decide to. Totally unrealistic...teams push when they are behind, which creates spaces and gives matches a totally new face...they don't just give up and play on time while staying in their own half...plus it's totally and unnecessarily frustrating.

Substance over style. The animations of PES were never a strong point.

Headers do look a bit weird from time to time, but nothing that would keep me from playing the game.

I've put in over 50 hours so far and have yet to see a penalty kick given. Fouls are bad this year.

I think nobody (including Konami) can tell me seriously there is no problem with fouls/refs. I won't even comment it...it's that obvious.

No news there...PES has always been miserable regarding commentaries. As blazer suggested, I switch languages regularly...depending in which league I play. I feel like it actually helps.

Well, to be honest, it's not the first PES where I noticed that. I guess it IS kind of an "AI cheat". I always played exclusively on Top Player and I must say it's been there for quite some time. I remember some crappy defenders catching up "no problem" with Babangida when he was the fastest player in the game. It's just like unblown fouls/penalties, missing the empty goal at a distance of 2 feet, hitting wood 5-10 times in a match, having shot 18 times on goal and the CPU puts his first in, etc...I just feel like Konami, instead of actually making the game harder/the CPU better, they just handicap the player to raise the difficulty...That's just not how it's done Konami! If you can't put an AI together that can beat me without cheating, pay me a visit, I'll be your benchmark for the 2011 AI.

Lower "Offensive Style" for every team. This will space out your attack more and give you more room for through balls.

I must disagree on this one. It's actually a point in the game I like. Perhaps your game is a bit too stereotyped. I score a lot, different goals, including nice collective moves with the last deadly through pass slicing open the defense.

They can be quirky at times, and need some fixing, but you can learn to avoid the quirkiness for the most part.

They really can be a pain in the ass. Especially when they keep overpowering or underpowering the passes without any reason. But generally, I get em right more often than not. Have you tried manual passing? I never liked it, but it might help you.

Most of the stuff can be worked around. Just realize it's videogame football and not football, and also realize Konami set the bar high and haven't lived up to it recently. They are getting there though.

I really understand you alkemy as I'm a football fanatic too and I badly need a football game too. PES is not perfect, but for having played FIFA, I feel I still made the right choice. The global football experience (like building up/scoring goals) just feels better on PES (and always did...excluding 2008...I'm still trying to get my money back). I still nearly destroy my living room when scoring a brilliant goal against one of my mates who can keep up with me (there ain't many . Another thing that helps is playing an older version (if you still have a working copy of course)...I assure you, you will be much happier with your copy of PES 2010. I know, there have been very good, milestone setting versions like PES 6. But still, play them, then play 2010...you just can't compare (and I'm not just talking about the graphics)! Till they address all the problems and bring us THE ULTIMATE PES, just try to enjoy what you have...that's what I do.

Pro evo calls itself a simulation, not a arcade game but the AI bends the physics (Speed, skills, strength) to suit itself.

I would simply advise NOT to play this game unless its online or against a friend.

My only problem is my connections not good enough to play online and my housemates dont play pro.

the game is atrotious! its worse than 08 and 09, its complete utter garbage!

been playing it today, and the players can't do the simpleist of things, like pass a simple ball inside, this is with the likes of lampard and deco, not the crappy teams and even then it takes about half an hour to do it!

the beauty of past evo games was you could wait till the very last second to pass while your opponent is closing you down leaving him out of position, this has complety gone. i've had to change the way i play and my formations to suit this mess of a game and i need to press pass earlier, why should i?its not realistic! i understand about body shape and stuff, but when a player in real life wants to pass he'll do it no matter what postition he's in.this is where evo 5 got it right.

ive been leaking alot of goals so i positioned my wingbacks to a more central position and played cbs instead yet they are still running out of positons up and down the wing? wtf? where have the arrows gone inpostioning? the defence/attack arrow where has this went?

throwins, why cant i move the player receiving the ball, the invisable walls away, but it defeats the purpose if you cant move the recieving player, its really easy to understand, why did konami not think of this?

barca/madrid noobs online, why cant i filter certain teams from my room? really don't see how this can be to difficult considering the amount of stuff they've took out the game.online is shocking, completly out of date, "yeah were going back to the sucsessfull evo 6 online way" FUCKING 4 YEARS AGO THAT WAS!!

on 09 there was hundreds online in thw uk lobbys, now your lucky if there is 200.
