Something weird - how do you attack!?!?

My gf commented on something yesterday which has stumped me.

I've been madly comparing and contrasting all the PES's over the last two months on all the gaming consoles. Been playing PES2011 PS2, which is good, but for me I have returned to PES6 PS2. Still the ultimate football game.

However, she pointed out something that when I think about it is a little strange. When I'm playing PES2011 (PS3), she said, (and believe me she'd know as she is made to watch endless hours of my gaming) I almost always attack on my left wing (bottom of the screen) when playing from right to left.

And when I play from left to right, almost always I start my attacks at the top of the screen (again my left wing).

HOWEVER -

When I'm playing "that other game" (she had a slap for calling PES6 'that other game'), I play both wings almost equally, perhaps even favouring my RIGHT WING a little more. When I thought about this a little more, it is indeed true.

Is this something to do with the different camera angle, different camera zoom etc, that subconsciously I'm being made to attack a certain way because of what I see on the screen.

I play wide cam on PES6, and play a combination of normal long and wide on PES2011, but even with wide on PES2011, I still tend to play the game a certain way, when in PES6, I play a much more varied build up game that relies on both wings.

Anyway else care to comment on this, or is this just something a little weird? I still think the camera on PES6 is the best, need to bring it back.

I find myself habitually going down the same wings you mention in PES2011 PS3. I have to force myself to stop because you can simply run all the way down the sideline with a mid-fielder, stop just short of the penalty area depth - lateral pass to a CF - then diagonal through pass to other CF - goal. E.g, last night I could do Giggs - Rooney - Chicharito over and over. You can do the same with any other combination - lost count the number of times I did the Malouda - Torres - Drogba trifecta. I find myself repeating this action over and over. If I attack from the other side of the field I cannot make this run. The midfielder is typically covered on the other side for the initial pass. It has to be some glitch with the CPU AI since it can be pulled off against all teams each with different formations.

Even though I force myself not to do it, it bothers me to "not do things" versus the AI simply handling these situations properly by trying to stop me. Now if I am down a goal and time running out I must admit I get back into this habit. Reverse scripting isn't it.

It is happening again
I tend to favour the wing that is closet to the camera ie when I'm shooting L to R, I favour the R wing. The difference is only slight, mind. It also depends on the quality of the wingers. With my Bolton ML side, I have plenty of quality wingers including CY Lee, Marin, Douglas Costa.

I just get the ball out wide as quickly and as often as possible and put the crosses in. With Vidic and Berbatov upfront for my master league team, your going to score eventually!

It always looks like there is less room on the other side of the pitch. It's much easier to control your player when you can see him and his passing options. Most of the time you can't even see the near winger so you don't usually pass to him unless you look at the radar.

I attack down the wing that is the least crowded. If you use defensive possession and pass the ball back and forth in the midfield, while probing the wings, there will be an opening in one or the other eventually. You can also provoke the openings by changing formations with the strategy button.

I play a slow passing game but like you ,i always seem to attack more down the left, obviously not all the time .My left back is always the more attacking of the 2 fullback's .Strange one tbh.

I can't stand player's like you !Why don't you try and learn how to play the game rather than abusing it's flaws because your attacking methods are exactly that.Run in corner low cross all match tap in goals etc..
The game is so rewarding when you play creative football win ,lose or draw .Don't you get bored of the same lame tactics?
Also Vidic upfront -_-
Pro evo is what you make it, it can be ridiculous arcade game like 90% people play this way or can be a very good sim if you play it right.

There are ways to easily counter that tactic, just set your backs as deep as your CB's, and add a DMC or two to guard just in front of your defence line. He will struggle to get past on the wing, and your box will be crowded if he eventually does get through.

And you can hit hard on the counter, obviously.

Yes, I am sure you are an oracle of insight... It was obviously silly of me to think you struggled with something you obviously hated...

I have always used the left wing a lot more.... R2 drible to the inside and BOOM!
It has worked since ISS...

It relates to right footed players being able to hit powerful crossing shots.

In real life, being right footed, I also preffer to play on the left side.. and use that same move a lot.
