Stutter?

This stutter problem is a real shame that some ppl are getting it and not others i have a ps2 v7 its about 1 year old and its been chipped and the original dvd based game and the cd/rip of the game both play perfectly without any sutter whatsoever.
After seeing this thread yesterday i did a bit of research and spoke to somebody who as spent the last 10 years chipping ps1's and ps2's after quite a lenghly chat he explained that out of hunderds of ps2's he has chipped the only ones he has had lazer problems with are the ones which havent been look after very well ie front grills completely blocked with dust ppl playing them stood directly on carpets ect , also the lazer attracts dust and needs cleaning once every couple of weeks with a lazer disc cleaner never use the type with liquid based solvents as these will do more damage than good.
The ones that have very small soft brushes on the back ARE THE ONES TO USE.
Its a shame that some of these little tips are not made clear to the owner of the ps2 form sony as you can keep your ps2 lazer in tip top condition if made aware of these things , i know its probaly to late for most ppl who own an old ps2 to start looking after it now but here is an attachment of rules he gives out to every customer that gets they ps2 chipped from him.
Anyways i hope that cleaning your ps2 up gets rid of the stutter for some of you ;)

hmmmmm,

You just mentioned that when you turn certain things off (such as comentary, stadium effects) in the other words when you turn off some of the details, game stops to stutter.
I don't know about you mates but to me sounds that some PS2s struggle to show full graphics and sound, like not having good enough PC configuration and trying to start Doom3 for example with full details...

I'm not sure but if the case is that older PS2s stutter and newer ones don't, leads me to think that it MAYBE has to do with the thing that newer PS2s such as V7 (scph39002, like mine) and V9 are powered with Emotion Engine+CPU, while older PS2s have only Emotion Engine...
Also, I know that V7 and later have better quality lasers, so maybe that's what makes PES3 to stutter...

What do you think mates???

Maybe these are poor or stupid explanations or reasons for this stutter but maybe someone who knows more about PS2 hardware can explain it,

I just have tried to find some reason for this problem, because I would really like for us all to find the solution...

I doubt that it has to do with cleaning a laser, than other games would stutter as well right???

Thanks!!!

P.S. Did anyone try to play PES3 on V7, and do you have a stutter or NOT (better be NOT) on it???

Thanks Gaza :), you just gave me a hope that my PS2 won't stutter on PES3 :), my PS2 is two months old :)

Looks like we were posting at the same time and yours got posted before mine :)

And thanks for the cleaning tips, I don't understand that people don't look after their PS2s...

What do you use for cleaning your PS2???

Cheers

As i said mate mines a v7 about a year old the thing is mines never been played on a carpet and i hoover the front grill once every couple of weeks.
The lazer cleaner i use is a cd which talks you through the process and has very small brushes on the back again i clean it about once every couple of weeks for 10-15 secs thats all it takes but the chipping lad was telling me hes had some v7's only a year old back completely blocked front grills with dust causing the consoles to over heat warping the lazer lens.
I think the issue of why pes3 might stutter against other games on older ps2s is because theres so much going on in these games at the same time ie commentry , crowds chanting and so much quick fire movement on the pitch the the lazer is dealing with a lot of commands as the same time anyway i hope a few pll get they game sorted following some of these tips ;)

Thanks again mate!

I bought my PS2 about 3 months ago. There's nothing that i would call "stutter" on my machine playing PES3. I have noticed PERHAPS an ever so slight slow down in some areas, but really this it was nothing, certainly not anything worth bothering about. I only "noticed" this becuase i was looking out for something, and it could well just be my imagination.

if you read the inside front cover you will notice something that reads like this

"some copies of PES3 will differ slightly from others due to realese times"

I bought the game on Thursday, and the stutter is present on both mine and my mates setup.

It's a head-doer in my opinion. When PES2 came out last year I was rueing the fact that it was not the perfect game it should've been. This time around after reading countless gushing reviews about how they had fixed all of the inherent gameplay problems, we find that the game is blatantly unfinished. The stutter is present not only in game but also during replays (which look decidedly jerky and amateur).

In my opinion, they have sacrificed smoothness for looks and it has weakened the overall quality of the game. I couldn't give a crap about realistic facial animations and crowds. Just give me a smooth game of football.

Sort the job out Konami. Yes the game is very good, but it is not a 10/10 game, and it is by no means the perfect product that we had every right to expect.

I don't seem to have any stutter either, and my PS2 is as old as the hills. I have never cleaned it either, save the odd dust, but it lives in the enclosed cabinet with my video recorder etc, so maybe it's pretty safe. Either that or I just happen to blink at the exact time it does stutter every single time :D

Spike the main killer of ps2 lazers is them being played on carpets sucking in shite for fun.
So you having yours in a cabinet will prolong its life matey ( i wonder if i should start a funeral sevice for dead and dying ps2's)
Just a thought mate ;)

Hi I did'nt know anything about dusting my ps2 before, but dont you reckon folk would have not experienced this with say another game thats heavy on the cpu?.

I've had my ps2 for nearly a year now and it needs a dusting by the looks of things. With my PES3 copy its hard to say whether it is stuttering or not, maybe its just me.

I reckon there loads's of folk out there tho with the stutter but the dont even notice it aswell.

If it was'nt for the DEMO being so bad, I probably wont have noticed it in the finished game.

Were will I get a CD cleaner from mate?

The new ps2's i know have no problem with the PES3 stutter. The SCPH 50003 has a much more powerful, better quality of laser and provides no stutter. A friend of mine has the satin silver ps2 and finds no stutter on his PES3! He recieved his yesterday! Damn Him!

Well I bought the new satin silver PS2 along with my mate who also got one, and we both get the stutter.

But he didn't notice it until I pointed it out to him, so maybe some people just don't notice it as much

All this "stutter" (slight pause?) business has got me noticing it a bit more. Thing is though, is that i've been playing it nearly all day, doing loads of editing, changing names, kits, badges (so the PS2 aint had much of a breather). This time it was pretty frequent, i'd say it happened about 5 times in a 5 minute period, usally around the half way line, or in the final third around the box.

*It could be that my PS2 was tired.
*It could be because the last time i played an exhibition i hadn't done so much editing, and now the computer has to deal with all my edits, instead of the default teams?
*It could be cos i had stadium effects on (or that stadium specifically, or with my teams - Newcastle V Everton).
*It could be cos i was playing at 50Hz.

Maybe its a combinations of all these factors.

What i'll do next time is once the PS2 has had a deserved rest, I'll keep an eye out from fresh, and if i see it again i'll turn off stadium effects and see what happens.

It is really really confusing. I don't know. I have seen a PES3 game in motion and I tell you, the stutter really get into your nerves if you're a serious soccer gamer. Yep, by turning off the commentary, the game will run well but why should we compromise if we are paying a high price for this game. I have seen many contradicting pics of this game. Some pics show the ball with blue stripes while others show the ball as totally white.
The version which I saw with the stutter has the white ball. I am avoiding this version. I have seen Dannyboy's pics and the ball has blue stripes. I am not sure whether this version stutters.
Can anyone confirm this.
