We should've beaten PESFan though, we deserved a win there.

You're right Jonno, but I think, to be fair, the whole team didn't really play well during those games. Plus the opposition played some good quick passing football, which I usually struggle with. As I said, I'm okay on ANY when I have at least 6 or 7 members of the team to control, but when it's 4, problems arise.

That's because you pressed to back out of the position, just before it clicked through which means you were treated as if you hadn't selected a position. It then picks the first available position for your player which is usually RB.
Last night we had both extremes... we were truly woeful in some matches, then dominated in others. I think Phats and Gin did well on any, as has been said it's very different when you're only controlling defenders.

When you were ANY I think you had the defence and the CM. The CM position shouldn't ever be left to the ANY if we have 5 other people online as I remember playing as ANY with the defence and CM and it's a nightmare as you can't cover yourself.

i was happy with my chipped goal against pesfan.
What annoys me, and i find its only a problem when playing club is the passing. More often than not, if there are 2 players ahead of u, even if you direct it to one, the ball ends up in the middle of them both and gets picked off. Frustrating, especially when it would lead to a one on one situation.

We're a little inconsistent at the moment though. I'm not sure if the EA servers were playing up last night because a number of weird shenanigans were going on and for a change I don't think they were the result of my connection.

I agree with the incosistency. The same team we beat 11-0 beat us 5-0 in the game before!!
Here are some thoughts I have, no-one take offence at these as I know i'm shit:
1) I try to get rid of the ball as soon as possible, as the less time I have on the ball, the less time I have to fuck up. Now this can often lead to some quick, slick passing, but at the same time, I find myself passing the ball straight to an opposition player because i havent taken the time to look. I'll work on this.
2) When we have barn up front, we often fail to utilise what he has, great height/heading abilities. Since joining I have lost count of the amount of times Barn has been in a great position in the centre, and the person on either wing chooses to cut inside and take it on themselves rather than cross it in.
3) When conceding a goal, we often grant the opposition the ball back straight away from the kick off. Be it a player trying to force the issue by attacking straight away with the ball, to a misguided pass from midfield. We should take it slow and pass back not forward. Allow our players to get into the good positions before making a move with the ball.

Jonno - 1)I play using Tele Cam (or whatever it's called) zoomed out as far as possible and tend to play short passes, mainly because I can see those in close proximity. Playing as the covering midfielder sort of legislates for this, because I tend to intercept, or pick up the loose ball, and then pass it on to those ahead of me to attack. I do look at the radar, but I can't see those ahead of me. There are a couple of team colours - white and yellow, if I remember correctly - which are more visible on the radar, but even then, it tends to disappear.
I've tried using Pro Cam, but I hate the swing and tend to misplace passes. I've also tried vertical view (view from behind the goals), but not matter how far you zoom out, you loose the width and depth of the pitch, so can miss out on some of the action. I might go back to this to see how it is, but I remember not being too keen.
2) When we play 4-3-2-1, I tend to pass to the midfielders either side of me (RCM and LCM), so that they can play it on the respective wide forward. After that, they can either cut in and shoot, if there is enough space; or try to cross it.
3) I've noticed that the forwards sometimes try to be more direct from kick-offs and try to run at goal. We've got the forwards to beat a few defenders and shoot, so it's worth a shot sometimes, but if the opposing team is better than us, they're better than us. We will struggle to break them down.
I don't know if our inconsistency is down to arrogance; us just happening to come up against better teams; just simply having an off day; or a mix. I have noticed that we play better when certain players are on. We may have a poor run one night, but then say Fabio or BarnDoor come on, our game will improve dramatically. Some players just boost our confidence.

I think with these two, they provide a physical presence in the team that no-one else really does. Particularly when either is playing as the striker in the 4-3-2-1 formation, as when Sweey, Phats and Me play up front we can only really play quick passing to feet and if that doesn't work we're a bit screwed. When Barn/Fab arrive it affords us an aerial threat and someone with the strength to hold up the ball.
Some times our pass selection is mind boggling, I know we all make mistakes but there are some who consistently play the wrong option. For example, keep through balls on the floor if you can but if there's a player in the way loft it. Some people appear to be picking at random whether they press L1 or not. Also, it's fine to pass to ball into Barn/Fab's feet, particularly if we're struggling to get in behind their defence. Some people seem to adverse to playing the ball to the ST and it's another aspect of their game that we're not utilising.
I find myself ranging when I'm free down the wing (and on the move) and a ball over the top is the perfect option but instead a powerful low ball was attempted and got intercepted by the left-back/left-sided midfielder..
As Original? stated, Phats, he and myself as a front three is a one-trick pony most of the time. If we can't get through with quick passing we're going to have to hope something special comes along to aid us.
