Use manual crossing and long balls defo. I haven't made the switch to manual for everything yet, but from what people have said, once mastered it takes the game to a whole new level of realism. L1 is what you use to initiate off the ball runs yeah. It's essential down the wings and for through balls to strikers, although you'll notice on Legendary how well the CPU defence tracks the runs or plays the offside trap. Really cool. Custom tactics are essential when it comes to defending. You need to drop the defensive pressure right down and also place your centre backs nearly as far back as they'll go in the formation screen, as they have a tendency to play a very high line if left untouched.

Ok i will try it. thanks.

btw manuel shooting is not hard on fifa well it is at first but its all about the positioning of the player like shot technique on pes I.E in a bad position you will shoot shite lol when you get used to that u be fine its just fifa is boring the only reason y ppl buy is for online play apert from that its pes all the way

I don't get how you can find it boring. What's boring about it? To me it offers the variety of goals, goal mouth scrambles etc. that PES did at it's best. I can't complain at all. 50 percent of goals may be one-on-ones where you use finesse to score from a 45 degree angle, but it's exactly the same with PES, where 30 percent of the goals are like this, and 30 percent from cut-backs. But this doesn't stop the fact the extraordinary is possible in both games.

I've arrived at Match Day 8 of my regular season and now have to play in the 3'rd round playoff of The Champions League, which of course is a home and away series.

I've drawn Stau Bucharest.

I'm incredibly nervous about this because of course anything can happen in a home and away series. I desperately want to make it into the group phase (and no I'm not going to cheat by replaying the games if I lose - where's the fun in that?).

If I make it into the group phase, then that would make my regular season even more challenging, because of course The Champions League forces you to rest your best players.

I see, by looking at the schedule, that right in the middle of my season, at a point where I'd be playing most of my Champions League group qualifiers, I'll be facing Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Spurs, all in a row! I think it would be incredibly exciting having to balance the two objectives of advancing in The Champions League and yet making certain that I finish in the top four in the EPL.

Man, I hope I get past Stau and make it into the group stage. I'll be shattered if I don't.

Wish me luck, eh.

Update:

Playing as Manchester City I beat Stau Bucharest 2-1 in the first leg. Unfortunately I did concede an away goal - so that puts me under a bit of pressure for the next leg.

Still, I'm winning on aggregate.

If I lose this thing then I'm going to be devastated.

Update:

Yes, baby!

I beat Stau Bucharest 2-1 in the second leg and advanced into the group qualifiers 4-2 on aggregate.

This means of course that I now have 6 Champions League Matches to play during my regular season campaign in the Premiership. Makes it way more challenging, that.

Damned cool game, this. Damned cool.

Sounds great Walker.

I haven't tried the normal League mode yet, I've been too addicted to the Become A Legend mode and Fallout 3 now. Although after my exams have finished I will probably dive head first into the League mode with Manchester United. Which reminds me, if there is a Champions League mode combined with the League then they will also be wearing their European Blue kit.

It is initially, but because there's no transfers, it lacks the long-term freshness of the Master League.

Just make sure u guys turn accumulated fatigue off. It's just really silly not being able to string 3 games in a row. Don't expect being able to field your best 11 every match either as you'll be in for a big surprise when you're up against Chelsea and 1/2 your 11 is blue or worse cuz it fluctuates a lot more than ML. You would think np I'll just use Nani and Anderson but they're also blue or worse lol leaving you a choice between unfit superstars or fit reserves.

I would prefer to have it on personally.

It's very unrealistic with it on. Also have to keep in mind during league mode you don't get those transfer breaks to rest your players. Don't worry though you'll still rotate your squad just as much as in ML but just in a more realistic manner imo.

although there is no transfers in league mode what is good is that if you edit the teams in edit mode when real life transfers are done this is reflected in your saved league.

I actually play the LEAGUE - CUP mode this time round as the Champions League mode further enhances the enjoyment of the game that much more.

I finished 5th in my first season and was heart broken at not making it, with 10 games to go, only 7 points seperate the top 6. Every game is a must win.

I love it.

PS last weekend me and a couple of my friends gave FIFA a go, I must say vastly improved, pace of the game seems me realistic than PES. However the ball still feels like those £1 plastic balls you'd by from your local grocery shop when 7.

Still, I def. want to give it a fair go. But not, when I'm enjoying PES so much.

Actually I would say the arrow situation is pretty awful in ML. And the fatigue is the most annoying thing in the world.

On PES5 and PES6, I had a squad of 22-23, but because of the worsening fitness of your players, on PES08 and PES09, I have had to have squads approaching the maximum of 32.

too bad.. it realy is shit

It is very irritating; but on the plus side, it means you use your subs and reserves. I remember on PES5 I actually got into around season 5, then realised I had some reserves, who I'd never played. Jaric was one of them, he went on to be club captain...

<eyes glaze over>

Anyway... they should keep accumulated fatigue, but reduce it a bit, because in real life, players like Ooijer and Lampard have played full 38 game seasons for their clubs.
