Purchased the game yesterday, currently installing it now. Will be playing for a portion today.

I think the challenge should carry some further rules - I don't think we should be allowed to use downloaded tactics, for starters. It's basically cheating in my eyes.

Another rule I always use for myself is not using the "Search" button to find players, but rather employ a "real" scouting system and increase my knowledge that way. It's far more satisfying than having a team of Cardenas' every single save-game.

Obviously it's up to everyone else to actually stick to any rules we do agree on - but it makes it a level playing field that way.

Colchester seem to be blessed with a chronic lack of pace - other than Kevin Lisbie, and a couple of the wingers, the rest of the team is very slow.

I think the defence will have to sit deep, and a direct approach into the strikers (who, thankfully, have boast a reasonable turn of pace) is necessary.

Shouldn't you all be using the same version? Anyone who has applied the BETA patch will see more red cards, more goals and experience a match engine much closer to that of FM2007 - plus their players will actually close down the opposition.

That would make sense - if we're getting really finicky about the whole thing, we should all run the same leagues and have the same database settings as well.

EDIT: Just played my first friendly, and as such experienced the match engine for the first time. I must say, the depth perception may take me a little to get used to - the ball goes so much higher.

The goals my team scored would've flown a mile over in FM '07. It does seem far more fluid and realistic in terms of player movement. The ball is less stuck to players, as well.

First result a good 'un. It was only Rotherham, though.

Yes, but the question is - did you find him using your scouts and the player search, or did you go name-hunting on forums and type his name in the search box?
