@ Perfectstrike.
Thanks for the answer and nicely put at that. ;o)
First off - there's just one thing you keep saying that I'm a little bit curious about. You keep saying that Konami has everything up their sleeve yet and will be in the final game when it comes out. That be 360 movement, better animations etc. You say this, as if you really know something a lot of us don't? ;o) I really - and I mean really, really - hope that you are right! Not for the sake that you try to convince us of something and then we would be able to come back at you, if all your statements turned out wrong. I'm not that kind of guy! I don't need the satisfaction to point out other peoples mistakes! But I really hope you're right for the "love" of PES. So just out of hope for the better and curiosity: How do you know the things you say about Konami implementing all the things in the final build? ;o)
As for FIFA realism/simulation or not... It's not so much about that for me personally. I just enjoyed FIFA09 much more than PES09. But fair should be fair. I only made my choice of which game to buy, by playing the demos and summing up all the pieces from the internet. As I understand it, then the demo of PES isn't really up to the standards as the final game? That might just have been one of the biggest mistakes Konami has ever made - and by the looks of it, they are about to make the same mistake again! They make builds of the game accessable to the public, that is far below par compaired to the final build. That doesn't sell game very well in my perspective...
As for the speed of the game - I really like the slower speed if FIFA09. Maybe it's because I'm turning 35, been a daddy for nearly two years now - thus not having the same amount of time to play the games as I used to - has made me slower!? ;o) But I get what your saying about a real footballmatch being both slow and lightning quick at the same time during a match. In that case I'll support your statement in that FIFA doesn't capture that feeling as good as PES might.
To make it simple without comparing games, I'll just like to add a little list of the things in both games I really like (and thus don't like):
PES: (Now remember that here I'll admit I'm a little biased, since I didn't buy PES09)
I Like:
- Player individualism! (You just know that when you're playing - say - Barcelona and you are getting a chance at goal, you don't want Puyol to be the one having a shoot at goal - but you'd rather pass the ball to either Messi, Henry or Eto'o. Also you have to take into account if the player i right or left footed).
- Cpu AI! (The cpu make great offensive runs for passes as the cpu is also great in defense)
- Formation editing (Until 09 FIFA didn't even have the option to make your formation 100% the way YOU wanted it. I believe that PES still rules this department).
- Ball physics (No comment needed here really. The balls i FIFA are helium balloons!)
- Graphics and player faces (I'm talking graphics not animations. The faces are incredible - but I always play with the wide camera, so I don't really notice.. ;o) )
- Player cards (This one is new - and we don't really know for sure if it'll be great or not - but the shere potential of it is amazing!).
- Responsiveness (Talks for itself really. We all complaint about the slow responsiveness in FIFA eventhough it's become tolarable now).
FIFA09:
- The manual controller setup (It's a marvel. If this setup could be combined with the individual player skills and player likeness of PES this would be the greatest thing ever made for a footballgame!)
- The jog button (Playing as a defender and holding this button down so you player stays just out of arms reach and always facing his opponent is dearly missed in PES).
- The finess shooting button (I know this button is in PES as well, but it's just not implemented right! In FIFA you press and hold while you shoot - so you are in perfect control of when you'll use the finess shot. In PES you first press shoot and then with perfect timing, you'll have to press the finess button, in which you are not in perfect control).
- Penalties (Granted: PES looks promesing this year).
- Attention to all the little details (This point right here is of so much importance allthough it's not important at all!! But just all the cool small animations that add so much to the look and atmosphere during a game is incredible!!! But at the same time it has nothing to do with the actual gameplay!! But still. This forum has been yelling for all these small details for years. FIFA has them and then some!).
Better stop now! This post has turned into a novel!! Sorry guys... ;os
