what do you think about the support range slider? i think most people will have it short as long passing on both fifa and pes has never seemed right. its just so random, sometimes you can hit it full power and it goes nowhere and other times it glides miles out of play. some fine tuning needs to happen with accuracy, trajectory and speed of long balls to make it a complete game. also the barca formation, who do they play left mid and right mid? i always thought they played that 433 formation with the awesome passers narrow in the middle?

anyways this is prolly old news but since everybody had a go at this vid i watched one of fifas and the create a setplay looks awesome!

mm I'm being pretty sceptical about this one. I think SOME of the animations have been implemented in that video and it would be quite naive for some of you to believe otherwise. if you look at the way messi took a shot right at the end of the video, it was obviously more like the way he shots in real life one on one. However, i do believe there is a lot of work that has to be done and Konami IMO will rise up to it.

360 control needs to be in there
running animations need to change
that right angle turn players do is also very annoying

But no matter what happens It's pes or nothing. I just don't really like fifa and never will.

I'm guessing this video was released on purpose to make us believe that Konami have not done anything to improve gameplay, but for us to focus on the sliders and what not. Then, come Gamescon, they'll wow us with their intended ideas...wishful thinking, I suppose.

I'm wondering if that last section at the end is from a different build, the animation does seem better than in the main demonstration of the tactics and cards.

It's PES or nothing for me too, FIFA on the PC is a complete waste of time.

It looks like the 1-2 causes defenders to freeze again! and some of the defensive positioning was shocking!

Watching the video and seeing how the gimmicky cards system works just made me realise that on PES6, the players did overlap and play passes along the goal area with ease without having to use a silly card system to activate it; it was just sorted AI and it did it automatically. PES09 definitely didn't have much overlap, even if you adjust the arrows and passing along the box is so hit or miss, but more miss.

Seeing as they could code it back into the AI, this seems like a feature for features sake, I reckon.

But then every defender did it , it wasn't some special ability that only certain defenders do.

When I first heard about this I thought on the same lines as you, it seems rather than coding the AI properly to react in certain situations, it was easier to actually list the things they should be doing and but the onus on to the human player to select the right cards.

"Henry likes to shoot across goal inside the 18 yard box...so...cut back pass....." wtf???

Alves @ 4:46 what is that defender doing?

@ 2:18 watch the defender LB marking Messi (I think) where is off to? also look at the RB and CB marking each other and LW left free.

Although I am big fan of PES i think EA will get it right first, if you look at their game play video and watch the defensive positioning they are poles apart. that said its not the final build and I will have to wait and see what gamescom has to offer. I think the culture thing will start to hold Konami back, they respect the attacking side too much and give too much of an advantage going forward. The chipped through ball only works in 09 so effectively because the defender stops and moves back a yard before going forward again. also take BAL as an example, they assumed that nobody would want to play a defensive position! they need start thinking about player awarness and defensive positioning. Again in the video where its on about Alves he is moving forward watching the ball it looks barcelona are about to loose the ball but he is still moving forward and doesnt actually slow down until they have the ball back. Come on Sebass think it through man!

Sorry for the scrambled thoughts!

^Yeah true.
BTW, this constant negativity has to stop. Everything is negative to some of these forum members.
The cards will bring player individuality, something that defines the teams, be proud and happy that player individuality is in pes and will continue to evolve with the cards.

Thx to JAMESLV ( for link )

thought I would add this ( since these guys have played the latest code ) I would say they have more authority on this subject than any of us here

IGN:

One intense lunchtime session of PES 2010 later, and we're seriously considering switching back over from FIFA. Very foot, very ball.

Would anyone care to answer why they like it more? Even tho they scored FIFA 09 a 8.9 ( i believe ) and PES 2009 a 7.2....?

Would love to hear...

I agree. I was actually excited by the card system because I thought finally players will play like they do in real life rather than feeling like every player and team plays the same way -- ala Fifa 09. I want Barca to feel like Barca, Alves to play like Alves. If you ever see him, he pushes up constantly. When Puyol replace him in the CL final, he stayed with backline unlike Alves would've do.

I think PES is making good strides forward and I hope the gameplay is up to par. If it is, and konami can deliver on its promises, then this may be the game we have been waiting for.

Personally I liked Fifa 09, but after a while it just feels like the same game, and online, it is merely a sprint fest. Plus after seeing the latest gameplay footage of fifa 10, it looked the same as 09.

Anyway, can't wait to see what EA and Konami can bring. Remember, competition is a good thing. Just take a look at Madden t0 see what I am talking about.
