The official "WE7:I Japan" impressions - thead
Here´s our new thread for impressions of the new WE7:I Japan. First I start with ClassicD´s impressions from evo-web, as they give you a clear overview of what you can expect from Konami´s new footie game:
Here are my impressions, I´ve just copied my text from evo-web
"Man, dribbling is crazy hard to me, I had problems to beat Anderlecht with ManU 1-0, had only 2 shots on goal
Totally agree with CD´s little review, advantage rule is class, refs improved but still some clear tackles are fouls. Has anyone noticed that there are less handballs ?
There´s a nice new animation, Keane fouled a player, got the yellow card and then went to the player lying on the ground and helped him up
Also I´ve noticed that either there are now 3 different types of injuries (instead of 2) or players with yellow injuries behave in different ways directly after the foul. In my first match I´ve injured Adriano, he had a yellow cross beside his name but no injury animation
Then some matches later I had a yellow cross injury and there was the same animation like in WE7, with the player lying on the ground.
Also, can it be that there is now a shooting bar for offensive headers ? I scored with a header with Totti and before the header there was this bar just like before a shot
Overall great game."

GAMEPLAY:
The game is more in favour of passing now than dribbling, it is slightly more like PES/WE5FE in it's dribbling turning circle, but you can still dribble nicely. Passes are far crisper, through passing is also improved a lot.
Player response time is much improved, no longer do you have to wait on passes, or be dragged by the CPU to a pre-determined pathway, you have much more control.
Crossing is better.
Headers are much improved, you can now finally perform a clearing header instead of the head-tennis in WE7, and attacking headers can have much more venom in them as well.
Saw a wonderful animation for a volley shot, hit it as it dropped nearly vertical from a side-on position, reminded me of Zidane's goal in CL final Hampden.
Non-Gameplay:
Seems to load faster between screens.
One new stadium, Ennio Tardini (Parma).
New faces and hairstyles, seen Cristiano Ronaldo and new Beckham hair.
7 boots:
3 generic boots
Adidas World Cup
Adidas Supernova Gold
Adidas F50
Adidas Predator Lunar
Overall opinion is that there are a lot of little tweaks, but the gameplay remains very close to WE7. The shift from dribbling to passing is much welcomed, as is the more manual player control when your selected player does not have the ball.
A nice game.
