Got it on release day & as normal dove sraight into career mode. Light-heavy fighter, main skill kick boxing. I'm really impressed with the create mode, it's the first time I've actually been able to create a character who really looks like me. The tattoo's are a bit crappy, but at least you can put something in the right place, if not the right size. Have decided to get one on the back of my calf purely based on create mode though!

My career started well 2-0 with ko's, then slipped to 2-2 as I had done skills training instead of cardio and as such couldn't last a round physically.

Found raising Cardio 1st, then speed and strength before really hitting the sparring or technical gives you enough quality to survive the climb up the ranks.

Had a championship match last night against Liddell. I won't mention too many details as it was over by rear naked choke in 35 seconds. Lesson. Don't miss Chuck!!! After getting slaughteredso easily I went on to lose the next 3

Current rank 6, fights 16-9-0

Need more techniques & groundwork practice though...

I started a career mode on release day as the Croat, Zvonomir "The Buzzsaw" Zuboronovic. A 6' 7" hefty heavyweight 18 year-old. I even gave him the built of a tubby drunkard. I recently gave him a shaved hair cut and now he looks like an evil David Beckham. My fighter is a Muay Thai fighter with Wrestling skills. The current record is something like 19-8-1 and I'm ranked no. 8 in the division.

P.S. Has anyone played much online yet?, I'm hearing lag issues.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's definitely playable more than often. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but I've noticed more lag when playing a Heavyweight game. Initially, I thought it was due to the size of the fighters, making them more sluggish, but I'm not too sure that's the case.

I like how it keeps track of your fighting style and attitude online. I currently have a vicious ground and pound, with a strong chin and lots of heart.

I anyone fancies a fight after the football, let me know. :slap:

Started my own career tonight and went straight into the deep end by setting it to expert level, won the 1st fight in the gym and then lost my first two fights in the UFC because basically my fighter was in bits regards his stamina, a mistake i won't be making again. Grrrrrr.

Anyways it's not all bad because I'm now on a six match winning streak and have got to grips with the whole thing.

Oh and my nick name is Quick Silver. :boss:

The grappling side is what Ive yet to master but Im gettin there. My record right now, middleweight, is 16-4-0 - I refuse to tap, but have been KO'd four times in epic battles.

Im at Advanced, mate. You?

I have most trouble against Wrestlers, all them takedowns and Im still not used to reversing, mostly when I do reverse, its by luck.

Expert, you pansy!

The funny thing is, I was useless at take downs and wrestling on the demo and it seems to be one of my strengths, now. However, my step-and-strike game is still where I shine.

When I master the grappling, Ill go up to expert.

My standing game is great, as is my combos and ground n' pound. My slams arernt too bad but my takedown defense is like, what we would call if this were football, Newcastle.

I'm not getting any older... :erm:

What an oversight! What's the point of assigning an age to a career fighter, or for that matter having retirement in there when you don't get any older?

Do you think that's something they could patch? Bloody stupid things like that piss me off and ruin the atmosphere and immersion some what.

Wait...
I'm improving on my ground game quite a bit. Played a few matches online and was beaten in all 3 more or less by the lag, and in a game like this where timing is everything, even a small bit of lag can be the difference between knocking someone out or getting knocked out.

What kind of sparring points are you lads getting on average? At the start I was getting like 22 most of the time but since I went to the level 2 partner I can get it up to like 50 a go. So I'm thinking now I could of wasted loads of opportunities to score better earlier on. :/

What I'm planning on doing is winning the belt with this fighter and then starting again fresh where I'll do things proper right from the off.

Depends on who I fight next. If I'm against a ground & pound Ortiz type, then I'm gettin between 22-40. More stand-up oriented I tend to be 60-80.

Just depends with the sparring since I'm still relatively early on in my career - and shit I might add. Sometimes I can totally dominate my sparring partner, while other times he'll piss on me which is frustrating. I think I just need to take a break from the game to be honest, which I'll be doing anyway since I've got heavy revision to do for my Thursday exam, and my last one I might add.

Got absolutely shitted on in my last fight, I'm generally alright on the ground, I can transition out of disadvantaged positions and full mount nearly every time but this particular opponent was blocking every single transition I attempted. It was beyond frustrating, I felt like throwing the controller out the window, such infuriation hasn't happened to me in years. Hope it doesn't happen again either because this is what I dislike about gaming, the annoyance it can bring. Shite fight.

60-80???

Fucking hell I'm starting again. Are you playing on expert?

Hunter I might be able to help you out. I was feeling the same thing today until everything change with one quick transition of moves.

Right, I was mounted and was trying like fuck to roll him off the top (almost gassed out) when I deiced to grab his head down towards my chest, then as he was about to pop back out I hit him with the auld quick reversal trick and turned him onto his back where I then proceeded to stand up and punch him out. This is alot easier and will put you in a well better position if you do manage to escape as to just giving up your back if you're lucky to roll him off.

Also improving your ground grappling defense is a big deal if you plan on powering back to your feet.

Wait...
I think I need to start fresh with the career as well. I was going fine beating low ranked guys, then I decided to take on a few of the big names and got destroyed by Lesnar and co. I beat Kongo later on, got a shot of the title, and won it by beating Andrei Arlovski with a flash K.O in the first 30 seconds.

As for the sparring I was getting about an average of 30, and got over 60 on a few occasions when I knocked the guy out. I stopped sparring for a while and decided to build up my guys strength, and have been since assigned a level 3 or 4 sparring partner which won't give me anything. He keeps me on the ground and the bastard won't let me up.

Yep. I maxed my cardio followed by strength & speed and didn't bother with the skills and techniques for a while. I make sure I now alternate, 1 week sparring then a weeks rest so I'm always at 100% when I get in the ring. I mainly work my sparring partner over with some stand up & pick up the odd reversal/throw/clinch as time allows. I also never bother with subs. I just go g&p non-stop.

I had the same problem but on level 2. When level 3 came around I was able to pummel his ass in a sadistic Barndooresque fashion at will.

Cardio level and it's use is definately the key.

I find resting right after a fight to be the best, 1:because you get to full power for any sparring and 2: because it just makes sense.

What's the story with getting new skills and throws? I've had a few new trainers over to help on some new moves but never actually here or see anything else about it. I did however discover I was given a single arm under hook throw but that was by chance.

One more thing, has anyone got the ring banners going? I've still only got the flag despite having a ball of new sponsors.

I believe you unlock moves via the trainers levelling system. I'm still at level one for both though as I am too busy levelling up skills via sparring.

As far as I can ascertain, it's just your "fighting out of" country flag... Whether levelling up via the trainiers makes a difference I don't know.

I'm hoping some future update will correct a few niggles and maybe open up a few addition customisation items...

I just finished my first career. I didn't even achieve much. All I won was 6 Knock Out Of The Night trophies, 3 and 6 wins in a row. I didn't realise I wouldn't be ageing, but should have figured, since I could have made my fighter 45 years old. Also, what would happen to the older fighters. Regeneration?

My fighters overall stats at the end are 82, with a record of 25-10-1 (expert level).

I'm going to start a new career as a Middleweight Kick-boxer/BJJ from Brazil called Ulysses Torachea (not sure of nickname yet). My problem, first time round, was that I focused too much on "Training" and not enough on "Sparring" in the first year and a half. Once I realised the benefit of sparring, I got better and my stats improved.

I've realised that when creating a new fighter, you have a lot more points to use on Fighter Skills, making your fighter awesome from the start. My first fighter was 18 and this new one is 31, so I don't know if you get more stats the older you are. I think it's probably a case of accumulated points from previous careers being carried over.

How come it was over so quick? Did you retire or just quit? Also, do the other fighters actually age?
