England(Zygalsky,PES insight)-Norway(tomo1811,pes fan) 1:0
Joe Cole 83’ (assist Dyer)

Shots: 5-5
Fouls :2-2
Possession 49:51

You wouldn’t believe me how even this game was. It was a game with a little real chances. Almost nothing worth mentioning, except that goal. Don’t get me wrong this wasn’t bad or boring game, there just weren’t the chances. You know,Zygalsky sent me SO MUCH tactics, so I put 100% of me in the game to fullfill all of his demands. And I thought:”He’s so going to lose!” but I was really mistaken about that. Tomo1811’s team wasn’t bad but England used just one defense mistake. Dyer centred the ball and Joe Cole played no-jump header. Ball is in the net.England won. By the play shown, perhaps the tie would be real result, but Zygalsky put so much effort to make something out of England and he did it.

Man of the match: Joe Cole(England)

Phew! Close one.
markony, thanks for all your time and effort in implementing my tactics. (Hope you save them so you don't have to go through all that again)

The crucial first game was tense but now England can relax and play with more confidence.

Argentina(oseany,pes fan)-Sweden(The_Turk,iss extreme) 1:0
Crespo 27’ (assist Claudio Lopez)

Shots: 11-3
Fouls: 4-2
Possession: 63-37

Argentina really was good here and oseany showed he’s good for tactics. Swedish just didn’t know where are they. It started really offensive from formal hosts in this match. Ortega putr a strongly shot from 20m but Hedman managed to punch it in the corner. Once again the same guy tried to score but sent the ball wide from around the edge of 16m space. Goalkeeper’s mistake in 27’ brought the only goal. Lopez made through pass and instead of catching it Hedman let the ball pass him. After that,it was not hard for Hernan Crespo to score an open goal. 1:0.
Sweden couldn’t pull up after this. They continue defending their goal instead of attacking opponents’. First action in the second half and a big chance for Argentina. Ortega made a low pass from the byline and Crespo shot on the volley but wide. I should just mention a great shot from Crespo in 77’ when he hit the post. I think that number of shots and possession tells everything about this game. Argentinians won 1:0,but I must say it could have been 3:0.

Man of the match: Hernan Crespo(Argentina)

Listen guys just to inform you. It's a terrible weather here. It's raining quite badly. And electricity comes and goes every ten minutes. So until electricity stabilizes I'm not gonna play the games. I'll post all today's results in the evening about 8pm GMT , 21:00 CET.

ZYgalski I'm from Yugoslavia(Serbia) town called Krushevac.

Turkey(galatasaray1979,iss extreme)-Wales(mufc_rule,iss extreme) 0:0

Shots: 10-2
Fouls: 3-2
Possession: 56:44

Yellow cards:
Abdullah

This was the first game without goals in the cup. But,not without chances. There were plenty of them. Before the match, one side of me expected this game with a dose of sarcasm and other side hoped for an interesting game. Wales’ players were encouraged by victory of Senegal and so tried to do the same. Well, we could say they worked. Cause one point for Wales is a lot. That’s the real picture. Well,mufc_rule must thank Paul Jones excellent goalkeeper for this point.
Don’t get me wrong. Turkey didn’t play bad,but you must agree with me that this is a failure for them. They had their first chance in sixth minute when Okan found a way to the goal but didn’t found the way next to goalkeeper who elegantly caught the ball. Wales had couple of chances but when the time comes to shoot that is…Oh,my God! All of their shots ended in the sky. Hasan Sas is the tragic man of the match. He missed two headers that could have been goals. And he also two times failed to surmount (I found this word in dictionary, first time hearing about it)
the goalie. Well mufc_rule found good defense tactics for Wales. And for Turkey it’s just a little luck they didn’t have, but now they have less chance to advance to the second round, especially now when Senegal defeated Brazil.

Man of the match: Paul Jones(Wales)

Czech Rep(guise,pes fan)- Australia(gangsta 9,iss extreme) 2:0
Smicer 71’
Koller 90’ (assist Nedved)

Yellow cards:
Okon
Grygera

Shots: 10-5
Fouls: 4-6
Possession: 53:47

Well this was a solid game, but I just didn’t enjoy it. Anything but the two goals didn’t really happen. There were a lot of mistakes from the both sides and neither of them couldn’t really built good chances. First half was with no excitement at all. Only one solid chance but Koller missed it. Australia decided to defend their goal. But,their resistance was broken in 71’. Smicer took the ball away from Murphy and easily scored a goal. Australia tried with two shots from about 20m after that but they didn’t have what it takes to tie. So, punishment came in last minute when Nedved centered the ball and Koller jumped even higher than the goalie to score a goal. Australia didn’t have any real opportunity in this match. Perhaps gangsta9 should change tactics for next match.

Man of the match: Vladimir Smicer(Czech Rep.)

Rep.Ireland(nmaher 61,iss extreme)- N. Ireland (fastcow10,pes insight) 0:1
Mallack 7’ ( assist Mick Hewitt)

Shots: 6-6
Fouls: 2-2
Possession: 50:50

Pretty much British group G(Norway is intruder). This was a great match between two Ireland. I must say on the very beginning Northern won and they totally deserved it. They scored a goal on a start of match. Mick Hewitt centered from corner and Mallack scored with a beautiful header. Rep. Ireland didn’t know what hit them. Northern guys continued to play magnificently. In 15th minute they had a great chance which Milton missed. Given managed to punch it in the corner.
You know I think a fact that on the end of first half the shots were 6-1 for N.Ireland and possession 62-38 percent tells enough. But,in the second half, fastcow’s boys returned to their half. Ireland started to attack but didn’t manage to organize useful actions. Roy Keane tried from 20m but hit the bar. That and a wonderful header from Morrison which went wide were only real chances in second half. Well,fastcow10 claimed that he’s good in tactics. And nmaher61 perhaps should think about his boys’ game.

Man of the match: Mick Hewitt(Northern Ireland)

Denmark(cobi,local guy)-jamaica(da wuu,pes insight) 2:1
Gravesen 25’ (assist Madsen)
Tomasson 65’ (assist Rommedahl)
Barton 32’ (assist Gardner)

Shots: 5-2
Fouls: 4-1
Possession: 45:55

Yellow cards:
Gardner

I’m so sorry that Jamaicans didn’t manage to draw here cause they deserved. They fought really good entire game. I think that their defense is to blame for this result. Defense made two stupid little mistakes that allowed Gravesen and Tomasson to score two goals. Denmark scored first goal in 25’. Madsen made a through pass for Gravesen and Gravesen scored an easy goal from the penalty line in the top right angle. 7 minutes later Barton made a wonderful turn to fool Helveg and then shot from about 20m to score a goal. And then I really thought that Jamaica is in psychical advantage but Denmark managed to get back in the game and scored a winning goal. It was in 65’ when Rommedahl played a through pass(yes, again the same kind of action) and Jon Dahl Tomasson shot so strong in the bottom of the net that goalkeeper only managed to see the ball going to the net. And that’s it. It’s a damn shame that Jamaica didn’t take a point, but their defense blew it. Denmark is now first in group and is going to the next game with big dose of confidence.

Portugal( Bonzo,pes insight)- Scotland( Fagin,mail) 1:1
Dodds 3’ ( assist Mccan)
Rui Costa 40’( assist Joao Pinto)

Shots 6-5
Fouls 4-1
Possession 48-52

Yellow cards:
Pauleta

Like in the other match in this group the result was 1:1. Scotland started really offensively and in the first action after freekick centershot Billy Dodds scored a goal with an excellent dive header. It’s good for Scotland to know that they have a class player like that in their team. He had a couple more opportunities but just didn’t have enough luck to bring a win. But,enough about brave Scotland. Portugal played well too. Their play was really attractive and they have shown that they deserve nickname “European Brazil”. They scored their only goal after a one-two pass made by Rui Costa and Joao Pinto. Rui Costa after that pass made couple of bicycle dribbles and scored a wonderful goal in the top left angle of the net from 20m. It was great to watch these two teams playing on the green pitch and I really enjoyed the match. Hope I could transfer you the feeling I had during the match.

Man of the match: Billy Dodds(Scotland)

Holland(Homer J,pes insight)-Nigeria(wozbaca,iss extreme) 1:0
Van Nistelrooy 37’ (assist Overmars)

Shots: 6-5
Fouls: 1-0
Possession: 54:46

Yellow cards:
Stam

Well Nigeria lost and Holland won. It was a good match only for the two facts. First is that it was played by two good teams, teams with fast players so the game was pretty fast. The other fact was a great performance from both teams. They knew that this is a derby match and put a lot of effort in the game. Holland was more lucky and Nigeria didn’t have so good goalkeeper. First attack could have been a goal. Kluivert tried with a shot from 25m but goalkeeper punched it in the corner. I just must say that I would give Stam red card for that foul he made. But he got only yellow. In 37’ Van Nistelrooy scored only goal. Overmars passed the ball to him and he scored a classic goal in the top right of the goal. Nigeria tried to tie in the second half. Their best chance was in 71’ when Agali made a dribble(like a fakeshot) to cross three guys. He just didn’t manage to score a goal since goalie punched the ball. The rest of the match didn’t have real chances. Holland was,all in all, a better team. Perhaps the whole team wasn’t better but attackers definitely yes. Three points for Holland.

Man of the match: Ruud van Nistelrooy(Holland)

Spain(wixon,pesinsight)- Uruguay(stasman,iss extreme) 2:0
Raul 60’ (assist Luis Enrique)
Mendieta 73’ p.

Shots: 7-3
Fouls 1-6
Possession: 56-44

Yellow cards:
Lembo
Tais
Valeron

Red Cards:
Tais suspended for 1 match

This is a great game for Spain and a terrible game for Uruguay. Not only they have lost they even managed to get a red card. It was a nightmare for Tais. He got a yellow card in the first half and a red card when he blame a penalty in 73’. Uruguay actually didn’t start so bad. They had a chance on the very beginning of the match. Magallanes just missed to score a classic goal. The whole first half Spain attacked but they didn’t have any real chances til the 60th minute. Luis Enrique made a good low pass from the byline,Raul got the ball and from half-turn shot scored a goal. The ball hit the post and went in. Spain were very persistent to score another goal and they did. From the penalty kick. Mendieta shot the ball in top left and Carini went down left. To the end of the match nothing important happened. All in all,in the most dirty game on the cup,Spain took 3 points and left nothing for Uruguay.

Man of the match: Raul(Spain)

Germany(Pedro Rodriguez,mail)-Paraguay(Hugo_Viana,iss extreme) 0:1
Gavillan 54’ (assist Suares)

Shots: 2-6
Fouls: 6-3
Possession: 45:55

You know because of electricity I had to play and watch 8 games in a row(electricity came in 3:30pm GMT 16:30 CET) and to write quick reports. So I kind of get tired of this for today. This was one of those more intersting matches. I really enjoyed it. There were not so much real chances, mostly because of attackers who put every shot wide. On the other side both teams played well and made really attractive actions. The only goal, scored by Gavillan, was after the corner taken by Suares. It really was a masterpiece. He jumped somewhere from the penalty line and sent the ball in the top left angle, where the three goalkeepers couldn’t caught it. Paraguay showed a better game and won. Germany just claimed that the top seed teams aren’t always the best,at least it is like that in this cup.

Man of the match: (Don’t know the name) Gavillan(Paraguay)

Markony are you gonna be able to write up reports for every single match? Coz thats alot of matches if you are. I would just try and make the group stage reports really small so it doesn't piss you off as much. Good job though mate.:)

YES! Read it and weep ROI, a glorious, glorious victory for Northern Ireland, and indeed pesinsight. The supporters are heard to be reminiscing of the 1982 WC match in which the mighty Spain were toppled. Clearly they consider this most striking act of giant killing in the same vein. While the manager has previously been accused of tactical simplicity, this result suggests he's a pretty astute fellow. Some cynics will cry 'fluke', and more than likely they'd be right. But nonetheless: glory, glory Northern Ireland!
