Played the 3DS today in GAME at Birmingham. They were only demoing the augmented reality games as well as letting you try out the home menu stuff.
It's good,, but I couldn't make judgement on the 3d effect in the couple of minutes I had with it, especially as I had the store assistant breathing over my shoulder just waiting for me to make a bolt for the door with the unit.
Theres a good AR game where you take pictures of your friends/family/enemies and their heads start flying around the environment and you have to destroy them. My favourite was when you place an AR card on any environment and a box appears, you shoot it and it explodes and a monster bursts out of the ground, destroy it and it sinks into a hole in the environment and you physically move the device to look down it and then the bastard bursts out at you because he was playing possum....the bastard.
The 3d brought some good depth inwards into the game, but it doesnt strike out at you like a movie (due to the fact in essence, the 3d glasses are on the screen). The main thing for me is that I can see the 3d effect, always worried that my shit eyesight would affect it, but it doesn't. Looking forward to picking this up.
