Is the server still complete dogshit? Last time I tried to download people, it made me want to strangle children.

Also, did your Royal Rumble winner do anything to choose who he wanted to face?

The server is awful, times out far too often, makes me question the amount of servers that are available to UK and European customers.

The majority of players I face online are American and the lag is frustrating. Even at quiet times of the day the game 'hangs' either during matches or acquiring CAW's.

BELIEVE
Just thought I'd post in here again, mainly to say how disbelieved I am with the quality of the gameplay. It really is solid, and brilliantly fun to play.

I had a couple of matches a few hours ago, with the final match being Lance Storm (me) vs. Bret Hart in an exhibition match inside WCW's Thunder ring. The ring itself looked great, and it really does help set the scene for the direction of the match. It's all about the story in the ring. What has me continuously coming back to the game though, is my strive to just put on realistic match after realistic match.

I'm suddenly pondering whether or not to take the plunge with a WWE Universe mode, or a WCW one, which would include my beloved arenas {Nitro & Thunder).

:hmm:

So have any of you brothers downoaded arenas yet? If so, what are your favourites?

If you've downloaded enough people, you can always try and redo the Invasion angle, but this time it not suck donkey ass.

I've downloaded a few WrestleMania arenas - V, VI and X-7. Recreated Warrior vs Rude at V, Warrior vs Hogan at XI and Austin vs Rock at X-7.

Oh and a 28 arena to have Cena vs The Rock.

Very nice.

I still need to download some more classic arenas. The older rings have such character to them, and I just love wrestling on them, so recently I've found myself catering more towards the older venues such as; In Your House, a few AWA rings, Summerslam '92, WCW Thunder and quite a few more, including NOAH.

I really love the differing ring settings, because it has a big impact upon how I wrestle believe it or not. For example, if I decide to use a WCW arena, then I usually prefer to pick smaller guys and have an old school Cruiserweight matchup. It all ties in with my overall aim; to put on as realistic a match as possible - it's so much fun.

My main gripe though (minus the terrible servers of course), is the loading times when opting for a custom arena. You have to wait for every single custom arena thumbnail to load up before you can choose your arena of choice. Also, we should really be able to alter the stage too as it definitely ruins the ambience of the setting, particularly for the classic matches.

Now time for another question:

Who is everyone's favourite Superstar to use then?

Do they do the show logos/matchup screens to go with them? I know it's a pedantic point, but still.

Is this what you mean?

I understand that the Clash of Champions isn't a custom arena, however it gets the point across I think. As for whether it works for custom arenas - it does. It's not usually as crisp, smooth and stylish as the licensed match up screens, but it's not bad really. When you finish creating your custom arena, upon saving it you'll have to take a picture of the arena, of which you can choose various angles.

I wish we could upload entire matches onto the internet as well, I'd love to see everyone's style. In fact, I've still not uploaded even a small highlight yet, anyone know how to? Thanks again.

There's plenty of CAWs around of the newly masked Kane. I am on the Xbox 360 however, but I'm sure there'll be plenty on the PS3 version too.

I think you might be referring to the 'render' though? The real-life picture used instead of the CAW representation? I believe it's some form of harmless manipulation that can be done in order for the pictures of the CAWs to be of their real-life counterparts, as seen above!

I have heard that these 'renders' can only be used on the Xbox 360 console - however this was over a month ago, so maybe things have changed. It seems well over half of the CAWs created and available for download on the 360 have their real renders, it's just a pity that most of these are of dull TNA wrestlers... oh and the fact the servers are awful.

I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to browse and download a few things on the game, and in that 30 minutes, I've downloaded two things; 1 wrestler and 1 arena - however, just after I downloaded the arena, the server crashed and it then errored, meaning I've been able to download 1 thing tonight.

It was the render I was talking about, didn't realise you could add them aswell.

From my experience, the best time to try the servers is between 5 and about 8 pm our time - when the US kids are in school.

Thing is, I don't even really want to 'play' online, just download some CAWs and arenas so I can use them in single player.

It'd be cool if we could see the Community Creations on the internet, and download from there, with the data being sent to our console accounts.

Oh same here, I couldn't give a flying fuck about online multiplayer, unless it's against someone I know.

And yeah, the second bit is a good suggestion. Even if there was a database on the internet, with direct links you could put into your console browser or something.

Original?

Can you edit CAWs that you download? How much classic stuff is there to download? Thinking of picking this up if it's cheap.

:lmao: You've been bitten hard by the (nostalgia) wrestling bug.

You can edit some CAWs that you download. I say some, because the uploader has the option whether you're allowed to edit or not. Usually, they allow you to edit though.

They are a lot of classics to download from both wrestlers and arenas. That's not the problem.

The problem is the servers are absolute shite, so most of the time it is hard to spend more than 2 minutes on there. And 2 minutes is nothing when you are trying to decide which is the best version to download and the load times.

The servers are still pretty pants, but to fair they've improved ALOT over the past month or so.

Still crap though.

Yeah, I was last on a few days ago, and the servers seem to have improved quite a bit. Far from perfect, but they're almost tolerable which is better than being 'the worst online server ever made'.

^That's great. They're using CM Punk this year. That's awesome. I think it was a nice teaser and I have already pointed out some interesting things.

First off, CM Punk has a shirt for his entrance, finally and his face looks incredibly good. Then onto gameplay. Is it me, or are they focusing much more on the impact this year?

CM Punk's GTS felt really good and the jumping moves from the top rope feel much better than WWE 12. Honestly, it was needed after WWE 12 because WWE 12 was great, but I feel that the jumping moves could have been better.

Improved graphics aside, the impact literally looks the same as it did back in the first Smackdown on the Playstation.

Punk's finisher animation is exactly the same as in '12. Don't expect much difference in terms of gameplay. It'll be reasonable but nothing major. They've had enough years to improve it to a level worthy of this generation of gaming, they've been lazy.

32 slots for Attitude era wrestlers/legends, and I believe that'll include WCW Monday Night Wars people. http://wwe.thq.com/roster

Didn't expect that. They do seem to be going all out on this one. They have to though because THQ are on the brink of going under. Wouldn't really care if they lost the WWE licence to be honest.
