X-Box patching?

Mumpleaser

Dirty_Harris Manager
I have searched far and wide for answers but not succeeded so I thought I'd just ask. A friend of mine has an X-Box and has asked me to try and patch his PES4 as he has just got his X-Box chipped. The problem is I have only ever patched/edited PES4 on the PS2 and I am totally lost when it comes to X-Box.

My questions are as follows:

1. Can you patch the ISO and then burn it to DVD-r (as my friend does not have a HDD)

2. Are the patches available in .ppf form? Or just as replacement files?

3. Are there any guides available for this?

4. Can I insert kits using Graphic Studio as I do with the PS2 version?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Patching an Xbox version is so easy.

It's a shame that he doesn't have a HD as that way makes it even easier.

I have downloaded loads of Xbox patches and found them to be just straight forward files .afs

You will have to create an .iso with special Xbox tools though, you won't be able to use Nero or anything like that. C-Xbox Tool is what I use and the most reliable.

www.xbox-scene.com tells you lots.

You can insert kits using Graphic Studio, once you have the game files opened you will see that it is the same as your PS2 version and take to it like a fish to water.

Once done your mate will lick your shoes clean, I know I done it for one of mine and he bought me lunch for two weeks running.

One quick question Wolf_Hook, can you point me in the right direction on that site (great help by the way!) for a tool that I can open up the ISO with and extract/import AFS files with? Really appreciate the help Wolf_Hook.

You will need to rip the files off of the disk by way of inserting it into your mates Xbox and then using FTP software to drag the files across to your PC or laptop.

If you put an Xbox disk into a PC your DVD software will take over and run a little movie, a PC cannot run Xbox games and can't read the disk.

Unless of course you already have an .iso file on your PC, you can open it using C-Xbox Tool patch it and then recreate the .iso using C-Xbox Tool then burn like you would any other .iso.

No problem, I would of chipped it for your mate and put a 120GB harddisk in it for him. Makes life a lot easier, did he do it himself?

Just had another thought, depending on what Xbox version he has your newly created disk my not work. There are three different types of DVD ROM's in Xbox's, Phillips, Thompson and Siemens. That is why people tend to put HD's in them as this works around the problem.

The Thompson and Phillips drives are shite and you will have about an 80% chance of your new disk working.

The Siemens drives will run almost anything and they are included in Crystal Xbox's onwards, known as 1.6's according to the motherboard version.

Is the quality of DVD-R as big an issue as it is with PS2's? I always use good quality Ritek G04's and they work perfectly in the PS2.

Another friend of mine chipped the X-Box over here in Sweden so I had nothing to do with it! I have a HDD in my PS2 so I know what you mean about it being simpler. I love it, just pick and play eh?

Makes no difference whatsoever, the drive will either like it or not. It's a chance you take, I would recommend getting your friend to have a read about putting hard disks in them on that site I gave you earlier or asking the guy who chipped it to see if he can do it.

If he starts to get into buring games he will come across a lot of problems, I am suprised that he wasn't told this when he had it done in the first place. Poor customer service or not an educated one.

I have opened up my ISO using the C-Xbox Tool and get this screen;

Image way too big!

How do I get from this to the files I need to replace with the files in the DarioX patch? AFS files etc?

Not trying to interfere here Mumpleaser and Wolf_Hook.

Is that your Xbox Iso? They all look like .rars to me? That's odd.

EDIT - Click File > Load Job > ISO EXTRACION

Select the .iso, place all of the files into a new folder.

how can u create a iso from the xbox game??

Shit!! I completely forgot.

PC and DVDRW cannot read Xbox games! The only way you can get the files onto your PC is networking your PC to your Xbox, and transfering the Files from the disc in the Xbox disc drive, to your computer via FTP.

No mate they are .rar files and need to be extracted with WinRar.

It seems to me that your .iso file is packed into .rar files. What you will need to do is extract all of those files to a folder on your PC, see the way they are all numbered? This is because they extract using WinRar in a numbered sequence.

Once you have extracted all these WinRar files to a folder you will then have to use WinRar to extract those. Download WinRar from www.download.com, that is if you haven't got it already and you will find that those files will in fact turn into little book icons. Just right click the file called r-pes4r.r00 and you will have the option to "Extract Here" Click that and you should then get your real .iso image of PES4 for the Xbox.

I would then put that newly extracted .iso image somewhere safe and delete all the stuff you originally downloaded making hard disk space avaliable.

Once you have done that just continue in the way I started off in the earlier posts on this thread.

Also I can tell that has been packed because PES4 is about 2.1 GB's not 1.7 GB's

One last question Wolf_Hook! In the folder for the DarioX patch I downloaded their is a file called default.xbe. Can I apply all the files simultaneously by using the XBE Patch button?

Or should I just right click on each file in the ISO and replace them manually?

A default.xbe is an executable file like on a PC. X Box Executable, I think the reason that file is included is because it has the media check removed that some Xbox games have on them.

The Default.xbe has nothing to do with patching as sorts it is only there so the game will run OK once finished. You will notice that C-Xbox Tool has the ability to patch .xbe's as well so the xbe file is almost useless.

I tried to manually insert all the files in the DarioX patch folder I downloaded but every file I tried to replace gave me the 'File different Size' warning and wouldn't let me continue. How do I get round this Wolf_Hook?
