I heard something about an ultimate update disc being 9.99 at some "gamestation", but it cost 14.99 in UK.

Have U heard of this before?

And is the "ultimate update disc" different from an X-Port?

Ultimate update disc is very bad from what i have heard. An Xport is much better and you can use yyour xport also for other games. The ultimate update is just for PES and for nothing else.

You can download PES3 PS2 option files. That's the whole point of using an X-Port. So you can send the option file to your PC, then email or upload it for others to download and send to their mem card using their X-Port.

All option files only contain what you can edit normally in the in-game edit mode. You can't add sponsors in the edit mode so you can't have an option file with sponsors on it either.

To get sponsors, you need to patch your game. Patching info is in the Editing section of the forum.

Yes, you can download memory card files for any PS2 games. Then hook up your X-Port and transfer the files to your memory card. PES, PES2, PES3, PES4, WE6:FE, WE7 and so on. The best WE7 option file around is in a sticky thread in the Editing section of evo-web.

X-Port is only for the transfer of files between your memory card and PC hard disk. The editing of these files is done as normal on someone's PS2. Using an X-Port saves you many hours of editing your game and it is useful for storing all your mem card files on your PC - such as all the amazing goals we all score every day!

Option File

I have a Qn about "Option file".

What does it include?
- Created players?
- Trophies?
- ML Teams?
- Secret players?
- Replays?

If there's an Option file with correct names, flags etc., but no trophies, it means that if I use it, I would not have the trophies?

There can only be 1 Option file, so the downloaded one will overwrite the one with trophies, created players???

Yes, there can be only one PES3 option file on a single memory card. You could also have another option file for PES1, PES2 and WE7 on the same mem card but only one option file per game.
If you save a new option file, it overwrites the previous one.

The option files do include all details of players (appearances, created ones and all), teams (kits, formations, flags and all), PES-shop (items bought), trophies. It does not include replays or saved games like Cups, Leagues, ML mode or Challenge Training. When you save a new option file to your mem card, the files for Formations, Cups, Replays etc are all stored in the same slots as they were before, when on yours. You will have just updated all the details that have been manually edited by the other person.

It depends on which option file you download. Some have trophies unlocked and some do not. If you check out Georginho's option file for PES3 in the Editing section (sticky thread) it has most trophies won and most shop items bought. Last month, I bought everything from the shop and when I saved his new option file to my mem card, there were still a few things unbought. Probably because I (and my brother) play the game more than he does so we have been gaining more PES points. But the items are easy to save up for again and have been bought.

Hope this helps.

I got the X-port and an re-conditioned console from Sony.

So, I had a look at Georginho's option file (transfers done, classic teams, not the retired players, nice flags and lovely boots!).

I think PES3 will always save the option file to Block 36 on the card in slot 1, so I switched the card I normally have in Slot 2 over to 1, and loaded up Georginho's file to that Memory Card.

So I have my original option file data on one card, and Georginho's on the other. That way I can switch between them by switching the console off (don't forget!), then swapping the cards over.

Oh, I labelled them with a paint pen, so they aren't mixed up!

You can also load the other option file by going to the main Option menu or in Edit mode and select to Load Option File. This will save you the time of re-loading the whole game. Best to make sure that the Auto-Save function is turned off so you don't lose either of your files though.

OK. Hook up your PS2 to your PC using the X-Port in the USBs.
Put in the X-Port disk into your PS2 (the one with blue writing "For use on European Console" and after a minute, load the PC X-Port software. Once it's loaded, you click on the button that is 'MEM CARD' in the bottom left area. Now you can see the files in your memory card. Add a tick to the one you want to transfer and click "Backup" in the top left. The file will be sent to your X-Port 'savedgames' folder on your PC.

Hope that helps.

Is there a difference between an X-Port and a X-Link cuz I'm about to buy an Xploder that comes with a X-Link

I had a look at the Xploder bundle in Game, it looked like it would do the same as an x-port. With the bundle, you also get a Save Manager facility to zip (and unzip) games saves to and from the memory card. That sounded useful.

If anyone has tried these items, did they do the job - transferring files between PCand PS2, and what about the Save Manager?
