Yeah I'd go a step further and say, for me, Final fantasy 7 was the best game ever made.

Really looking forward to this one though. Seeing the differences, graphically from the last one on ps2, should be interesting to say the least

I was reading this argument on another forum about FF13 crossing over to the xbox360, and lo and behold this argument was between an microsoft fanboy and a sony fanboy right,

So they're going at it, the 360 guy is saying stuff like "ahh sony has lost a big exclusive, its so funny reh reh reh"

Then the sony dude came out with "Well do you know what happens when massive games cross over to the 360? The machine can't handle it...This is primarily the reason why the 360 couldn't handle MGS4, so they're definately going to have to 'dumb' it down for the 360, because the disks are no where near as big as blu ray"

So then the microsoft dude said this " Yeah well, they won't dumb it down for us, they'll just put it onto more than one disk" :faceplm:

Its funny and all, but they if they did actually put it on more than one disk for the 360, I would seriously doubt the credibility of microsoft. After all, whats next gen about a bunch of disks???

So I was thinking, as Blu ray disks are far superior to whatever the xbox uses (is it HD? or just regular DVD? i dno), Do you reckon they'll have to cut a lot out? whether it be in the graphics department, or like, the extras department?

Lost Odyssey is on 4 discs. The game is pretty similar to Final Fantasy X (former Final Fantasy creator is behind this game). Like Miggy said, I like swapping discs. I certainly don't see it as a major disadvantage for me to say "Oh but the 360 you have to swap discs, I'll get the PS3 version." I loved it when you were playing the old Final Fantasy games and when someone asked you how far you would say "I'm on disc 3" with a smug face only for him to say "I've completed it" and owned your ass. :D Each disc was like a chapter of the game.

The only gutting thing is although that there are other games I have bought for my PS3 that I like and I am looking forward to, the main reason I bought the PS3 was for Final Fantasy XIII and Square Enix consistently said that it was a PS3 exclusive and although I loved the trailer and I thought it was great news since a lot more people can experience the game, it was a kick in the balls to the main reason why I bought a PS3.

As for best game, I would probably say that Final Fantasy VII was for me. At that time I was blown away by the game. A friend played it all the time and talked about it so I got it for Christmas. I barely even knew much about the game as I was like 9 or 10-years-old but I fell in love with it. I've still got that PC copy I got at that Christmas and I have played it multiple times. The last time I played it was late 2006/early 2007 so maybe it is time for me to play it again. That said, Final Fantasy IX has grown on me over the years and has become a personal favourite of mine in the franchise.

If your into final fantasy, you have to play The Last Remnant for the Xbox 360, its made by the same people and i think its the same battle system thats gunna be in the new final fantasy

I've got it and all I thought of the game after the first couple of hours playing it is that I hope The Last Remnant is some kind of 'beta' game for Final Fantasy XIII. The fact that the game was developed by Square Enix is what worries me. The dialogue was terrible in the game and the character models move like robots. The battle system had potential but what ruined it for me is the fact that each party member has these things called 'unions'. So even though you may have a party of like 2 or 3 people. Each of those people usually have at least 1 other guy with them which I thought is a bit pointless. The actual battle system with flanking and colliding in the middle seemed decent but when your party members (not forgetting the 'unions' as well) collide with the enemies so much is happening on the screen that you don't really know what is happening.

I felt that the battle system has a good concept but I would have taken out the unions and keep it with traditional party members. Maybe up to 4 or 5 members a battle and as I said earlier, the dialogue is terrible and so far the script seems too cliché.

So far from what I have played I would give the game a 6/10. Playable but not a great game. Maybe I might recommend it if you can get it quite cheap.

If you want a game that's this generation that is similar to Final Fantasy then it is definitely Lost Odyssey. Lost Odyssey's concept is by Hironobu Sakaguchi - The original creator of the Final Fantasy franchise. Nobuo Uematsu, a composer famous for his many melodies in Final Fantasy is also working for his company Mistwalker. They are a co-developer as Mistwalker mainly focuses on the script and the original score while another developer will the rest (In Lost Odyssey's case - Feelplus).

The game just plays like Final Fantasy X. Kaim Argonar (the main protagonist) is a very interesting character. A lot more so than what he appears to be.

The game follows Kaim (the main protagonist) who is an immortal and he has had his memories wiped clean. As the game progresses his memory is coming back to him as well as Kaim finding more immortals who are in the same situation.

The game also features a sidequest called "Thousand Years of Dreams" were Kaim remembers something by talking to people and unlocking a 'dream' into a past event. These dreams feature short stories written by a Kiyoshi Shigematsu. They are a very good read and offers a lot of back story to Kaim. So if you are wanting to play a game similar to Final Fantasy then Lost Odyssey it is. Blue Dragon also has a similar feel but you would need to be able to tolerate the 'childish' dialogue to be able to play through that game.

Cheers for the info man, I picked this up on sale for 20 euro today. If it plays any bit like Final Fantasy I'll be happy.

If you enjoy Final Fantasy then I think you will enjoy Lost Odyssey. I knew before the game was released that the same producer was working on Lost Odyssey but I never really got all hyped up until about a month before the game's release. I saw some reviews and trailers. I was excited that the game had a turn-based battle system and even though some reviewers criticized the battle system, it was usually down to it being turn-based which didn't turn my head in the other direction at all.

As soon as I got it I only played it for a few hours (I'm pretty sure it was midweek I got it and I was working a lot then). Then 2 days later I was just in love with the game. Within the 2 days I managed to go from the end of disc 1 to the end of disc 3 which I got stuck at for quite a bit. Looking back at that it was a mistake powering through the story with not many skills, accessories, rings, components etc so I decided to start again and focus on building my character abilities rather than the plot. Right now I am at the end of disc 2, just teaching Ming a few skills then off to fight a boss. :)

Like a strategy guide? I had a look and it seems to be out of stock in most places. You could always try checking at your local GAME or Gamestation (or a few for that matter) and checking if they have it in store or at least enquire about it. One on eBay did come up in the Google search.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lost-Odyssey-ST...ItemQQimsxZ20090119?IMSfp=TL090119128006r5349

The guide is obviously from North America but you can 'Buy It Now'. It's up to you if you are confortable buying over eBay and judging by your post, it is something you will probably at least have a look at. ;) The only problem with buying this off eBay is I'm guessing you won't want to play the game before you get the guide.

I don't usually look out for guides as if I use a guide, I tend to use Gamefaqs or similar websites. Doing that you might want to be using seperate guides etc like maybe one for advancing the plot and another for certain sidequests etc like finding all the treasures (You get an achievement if you find all the treasures). The guide I am using mainly follows the plot and although it mentions a lot of the treasures, I noticed it had not mentioned a few (Albeit most of them being obvious to find) but I noticed that I missed 3 treasures so far. You can purchase these items you missed in an auction house but I think that might only be for areas you cannot go back to.

US, February 25, 2009 - Were you concerned when Square Enix president Yoichi Wada told investors that Dragon Quest IX's Japanese delay to July might have an effect on the release of FFXIII? If not, what's wrong with you? Any delay in the Japanese release of the game almost assuredly means a delay outside of Japan as well!

All is not lost, though. FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama had some calming words in an interview in this week's Famitsu. Development on FFXIII is still progressing towards a 2009 release and is going smoothly, he told the magazine. He also noted that that the the game's demo version, which will be included with the Japanese release of Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete in April, was finished in December.

Of course, Wada and the other Squenix suits will likely have the final say on when FFXIII gets released, but it's certainly good to hear that the game is coming along.

Famitsu also got Toriyama to spill a bit about the demo. Players will be able to play for about an hour, he said, confirming past reports at a sizable play experience. There may actually be a multi-faceted side to the demo, as Toriyama revealed that Snow and Lightning will not meet during the course of the demo. Players will be able to enjoy the stories for the two characters separately.

Furthermore, because the full battle system is included in the demo, Toriyama expects players to find a lot of replay value. Despite the inclusion of the full battle system, though, he assured that the battles we see in the final version of the game will be evolved even further.

:/ Not quite sure what they're saying here, apart from things to do with the Japan release, but tis news all the same I guess :/

Yeah there was rumours that after Dragon Quest IX's delay, it might have affected the Japanese Final Fantasy XIII to be released after 2009 which would delay us in the Western side even further considering how that both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be released at the same time but they will not work on the 360 version until the Japanese version has been released. We still won't see it till 2010 but it is good to hear that we won't have to wait longer for a game that is already taking a century to develop.

As for your question, no. Square Enix liked to be bastards and release tiny information that is far apart since it's first announcement 3 years ago.

True but I'm still looking forward to Dragon Quest IX. Dragon Quest VIII was pretty good and when I get money I'll be picking up the DS remakes.

This seems like the place to ask..

What is the Star Ocean series like? The fourth just got released in Japan and America I believe, would that be a good starting point for JRPGs?
