Does anyone else there should be a name change? I was thinking about it yesterday, how daft "Pro Evolution Soccer" actually sounds. It just doesn't sound professional IMO. What does it even mean?? "International Superstar Soccer" kinda made sense, even when they changed it to "ISS Pro", and "ISS Pro Evolution". A minor quibble, I know.

Seems like most people have voted the same as me, ie not being able to break the habit.

I love the name. It may not be the 'most professional', but I think that actually adds a certain uniqueness to the game. Certainly, I think, back when the gameplay was good and they didn't have many licences, it summed up that the game may not look as professional as FIFA, but it's still a lot more fun to play.

There should be a "Nah, football games are shite these days anyway" option.

I don't buy PES or FIFA because they're just not up to scratch.

Am I the only one who does not have the Opinion "PES 5 and 6 were the greates of the series" ? Looks like.

I never went back to an old PES, and I have all from 4 to 2011. I always loved the newest one and played only that, and 2011 is my favourite.

I think 5 was very flawed, but 6 was awesome. I've just started playing it again on PC because my PS3 has cancer :(

I switched from FIFA in late 2004 and rate them as follows -
PES 4 - Awesome at the time, starting to show it's age now
PES 5 - Good, but flawed. Poor AI and players had the turning circle of a bus
PES 6 - Awesome. Was the standard bearer until this year
2008 - Not great, but the first one on a new console usually isn't
2009 - Better, but still alot missing
2010 - Improved in alot of areas, wank in others
2011 - Ahhhhhhhhh that's better.

PES 6 was the first current gen game. It was available on the 360. It was great, but lacked content. To be honest, I only realised issues in PES after I moved to the PS3 (from PES 2009 onwards). It could just be coincidence, but I remember 360 gamers liking PES 2008, but not PS3 owners.

Oh right yeah, I only ever played PES 6 on PS2 so treated it as previous gen, if you know what I mean. 6 on the Ecksbox didn't have an edit mode, did it? Stupid Microsoft marks.

That's right. I was disappointed with the lack of editing at first - especially in regards to the Master League - but it wasn't too much of a miss in the end.

The last PES I enjoyed was 2009. I still have PES 2011, for some reason, so I think I'll give it one last chance before I trade it in.

Winning Eleven always seemed like an appropriate title. Pro Evolution Soccer always reminds me of a "Super Happy Fun Time" like Asian saying that they think would be cool with westerners when it is not.

The name makes me happy.

So we have reached a consensus; Konami's new product will be named "Super Happy Soccer Fun 2012"

btw - I was always surprised that the word soccer is used - I thought only U.S. used that term. No objections from the UK contingent?

no, im sick to death of updating these games with the proper teams/kits/players, totally done with this franchise, unless they get a full license like fifa have.

Downloading the demo wouldn't help because it's always the same excuse. "The demo we gave you was from a super old build. I totally promise you that the full game is miles better!"

I'll probably go to a mate's house and try it there.

Classic, Love it. I get annoyed saying soccer here but I annoy everyone here when I call it football. I wish this would have been settled back in 1920.

An American using the word "football" the way it should be used?? Well I never!
