Notice the later pages techboy11, some guys are catching on to your find.
I can't take the credit Sabatosso I just made people aware on this forum that there was ANOTHER way to play the game. A few people on Evo Web, and then myself tried it and the results speak for themselves. Anybody who is is denial about this or sticking to their guns about the post patch being better needs their head checked lol.
I wrote an extensive piece giving the PS3 version (I had US so had longer than most) a nine out of ten. I played it to death. Then for some reason I started almost hating it, so much so that I questioned or not whether it was broke and games become sterile. It was at this point that I re-evaluated my score and gave it a 7 maybe even a 6.5.
I then purchased the PC version and again boof, I said that this was the best version, but alas again, the PC version became a chore and not enjoyable.
NOW I KNOW WHY!
I can fully say, that I now re-instate my view that both the PS3 versions and PC versions are fully worthy of a 8.5/9 out of 10, I'm personally now playing the PS3 version again exclusively. My beef before was that the game was broken and it was a shame that my big tele was going to waste and I had to play it on the PC. Not anymore. Had a tremendous 1-0 away from to Wigan on Top Player (15 minutes to all those that say this pre patch is arcade!!). I then had two more games. In those games I was once again able to reconstruct the football that I want to play including scoring a one on one with Suarez (I know blow me down, my one on one success rate post patch was around 1% lol) and the ball actually went in the corner I specified.
People may be having a go at pre-patch because they are mislead about Active AI. Active AI doesn't mean that your players run around like headless chickens and lose all shape; quite the contrary, I'm finding defending once again more fun because
a) I can defend the way I want to, drop deep one match press high the next
b) can actually tackle the CPU, can pressurise into them losing the ball high up the pitch with good positioning
Quite simply the Active AI makes defences more alert and I'm finding that my players don't just stand there like mongs. My forwards - how about this - are actually making runs! WOW
So we have
1) Better AI in both attack and defence
2) Two ways in which to defend, contain or press
3) The sliders actually work
4) Shots going where you want them
5) More freedom to create
6) More midfield possession to and fro
7) More response
8) CPU giving the ball away when pressured, but the CPU pressure more intensely in certain areas to
The only downsides
1) Can't play online
2) Keepers are weaker (but as of yet I'm yet to see a real blooper)
If peeps want to stick to post patch that's great, but for me, the pros far, far outweigh the cons. In fact tonight I'm going to do a universal GK edit to improve the goalies, I think then I may have near enough the perfect game.
