Ok, I don't know if I'm being a bit thick... I bought a mic from GAME. GAME's own brand. I plug it into one of the front USB slots on my PS3 and I don't hear anything..... am I missing something?

You might need the old ps3 white red yellow cable along with your standard hdmi or go into your system audio settings and set the output.

Apparently PS4 controllers will be digital, not analogue, which to you and me basically means the face buttons now have two states, on and off, and don't register how long a button is held down for. They've done this because of "lack of developer support".

But surely, this completely changes stuff like passing and shooting in football games, which relies on buttons being tapped or held, or am I missing something?

Nah it'll be fine. Football games time how long you press the button to gauge the strength Not how hard you press the button.

edit - my Sig looks like its asking for anal

But that's what's been removed - the PS4 controller won't register the length of time you're holding the button down, just that you're either pressing it, or you aren't.

I figure I've read it wrong somewhere though as it'd be slightly silly.

By pressing the button you are completing a circuit. When u let go the circuit is broken. The controller will still be able to time this. The only games that used analogue face buttons on the ps3 was mgs 4.

Yeah, I've rarely seen games make use of analogue features with the the face buttons. In fact... I can't think of ANY game that uses it. :hmm:

The MGS titles used them to do the stick ups with the guns, the slower you press it the slower you raise your gun etc

Racing games could make use of them, with acceleration/decelleration based on how soft or hard you press but the Dualshock 3 had analogue R2 and L2 buttons so the acceleration and braking was shifted to these for those titles.

You ol' git Ali, get with the times. No throttle control.
When playin GT I use the analogue stick for accelerate and brake. It helps using the both on one button rather than keep tapping on the brakemaking you learn the racing line better.
Use that on the PlayStation though just because the triggers are shite unlike the Xbox triggers.
Remember it was the first dual shock for the ps1 (I think) that had pressure sensitive buttons that only really got used and were useful for racing games.

I've been using my PC monitor for my PS3 recently sometimes and was wondering how I could get audio through my speakers? I use a stereo for my PC using a aux cable to get sound through the speakers because I haven't got proper PC speakers.
Thanks X

Ugh, my PS3 is taking ages to sign in to PSN recently, and load up the friends list. Think my brother is having similar issues.

Thing is, internet is working fine elsewhere, it's only the PS3 that's having the issue.

My ps3 really is hanging on for dear life now. Done the hair dryer trick three times now to revive it. Noticed the bottom of the PS3 has warped I've heated it so many times:hmm:.
The end us nigh but for now it soldiers on.

Apparently there's an update on the PS3 which allows you to use your DS4 controller on the PS3 only without the rumble. Might get back into play GTA V now as I stopped playing as both my PS3 controllers are broken. You could originally use the DS4 on the ps3 but it had to be plugged in via the short charge cable.

Yeah I've played BTTF & Jurassic Park. I bought Devil's Playhouse & Tales of Monkey Island for $1 each (my word) when they were on sale on US PSN last year. But I bought Beyond Time & Space. :)
