PS3 Delayed until Sept 07? Will PES7 see light of day on PS3?

Having just read the article via the following link, It seems there's a possibilty of a further PS3 delay until September 07, and was just wondering what the chances were of seeing PES7 on the PS3 this year? Your thoughts people....

Pathetic if true.

It would mean that the Americans and the Japanese would have the console nearly a year before us Europeans which is unacceptable in my opinion. At this rate, I might not be able to afford a PS3 until 2010. :realmad:

I'm starting to wonder if it's worth buying a PS3 now. If Sony release it in September 07 at £425, then the next price drop will come in Christmas 08 and I'm guessing that it'll only be a £50-75 drop.

If this is true and I was Sony, I'd be fixing to put out a price drop to compensate the Europeans for the long wait.

But I can't see it happening to be completely honest. :no: It looks like I'll be sticking with my PS2 for a while yet.

Boxing Day, I can't wait, especially with the long string of games available and all seem to be top notch.

Sony are just being arses about this whole process it seems, they should at least make it cheaper as you could probably import a Japanese or American version for around £100 off. As we know, it's apparently Region-Free too so it shouldn't make a difference.

the ps3 isnt delayed! sony confirmed its still down for a march release, iam gonna take a guess at the 23rd of march, which infact is my birthday lol

its on loads of websites that its still down for a march release, its just rumours that itll get pushed back.

I don't think any of us are going to go out and buy an Xbox 360 in frustration at the lack of delays with the PS3. :no:

You have to remember that the PS3 is the better all round system when compared to the Xbox 360. The Multimedia features of the PS3 will bring an extra burst of life to the system therefore, making it the better investment even though it is significantly more expensive than the Xbox 360.

Don't get me wrong, it is worth getting a PS3.....eventually. It's just that from the gaming point of view, I can't see how Sony can compete when Microsoft decide to bring out an Xbox 3 console in time for 2010 (which is probably when I can afford a PS3). A move like that by Microsoft would make the PS3 outdated within 3 years of release.

I have had my ps2 for 5 years after about 2 years it struggled to read discs inspite of the regular lens cleaning. I googled the issue and came up with lots of info. I then operated on my ps2 every year since then and I still love that it runs so smoothly.
So excuse me for being a sony fanboy but I'll rather wait for ps3 no matter how long it takes.

I don't trust Sony one bit ... I wouldn't be surprised if there is a delay and it's not as if Sony are gonna admit to this gossip - they'll just wait until 2 weeks before release and then let slip a statement aplogising etc...

Dont buy that shit guys!! as soon as I get the chance of getting a ps3 I'll be trading my shit x360 for it.

The blu ray issue aside, could these delays everywhere except in America be as a result of the strong sales PS2 is still experiencing in those regions? If you look up the figures on the web, sales for the PS2 seem to have rejuvenated all of a sudden in the last 12 months.

If they continued those PS2 sales for another 6-8 months, there would be no ground of competition between the 360 and PS3, they would be 2 years apart and everyone would want something new by then, PS3 would soar in sales. And by making M$ rush and release a less than good console already, Sony would certainly come out on top.

I dunno man.. Unless you're into the whole blu-ray thing, both consoles seem to have similar feature. and most of the game will be multiplatform nowadays anyway...

I actually ran out of patience last march... and just went and get X360... and I get to play PES6 since last two months...

I think the biggest reason as to why the PS2 sales have increased recently is because of the infamous Disc Read Error problem. You can clean the lens and adjust the laser arm settings as much as you like but the fact is that one day, the lens will die.

I'm quite sure that a lot of people have experienced a dead PS2 lens. Buying a new lens nowadays, even for the bulky PS2 consoles would cost you around £40. Add the £10-20 for labour charges and before you know it, you're potentially paying £50-60 to repair your old PS2 and it doesn't even come with a warranty.

You could probably buy a second hand one for the same price. But if you pay an extra £35, you can get a brand new console with a warranty.

I know which option I'd go for.

Wow, are you a Sony fan?? guess what?? there aren't many exclusive games on PS3 anymore mate, so it IS actually worth having a 360 since all the Hearsay, and it is, about PS3 capabilities is not in fact living up to the 360 beating machine it is supposed to be. I work in a games testing lab and i can safely say that i am a GAMES fan, not one particular company, and i can safely say, that no matter what way you look at it, the same games will be out for both, The Darkness, GTA4, Assasins Creed... only real worthwile exclusives are the greatly hyped Metal Gear for PS3 and Halo 3(shit) for 360. So get them both guys, but 360 for now eh

I can't afford to get both a 360 and a PS3 so I'm going to wait for the PS3(hopefully march coming) and wait for it to drop a little in price. By then there should be plenty of games around. But if in the end the PS3 isn't all its made out to be I'm willing to join the darkside and go Xbox.

Don't let me down Sony.

Didn't you have a problem with the L1 and R1 buttons? I found them very annoying when I was playing with the Xbox360 with a mate of mine.. They would be a reason for me to wait for the PS3 already.

Why is that the dark side exactly?? What has it done to show it is not a top end console with great games and ability?? Exactly so leave the Sony fan boy attitude out please. Sony have done nothing but let me down, but i don't hate them, the fact that they had to give me 5 PS2's cos there shitty product was rushed out and faulty, the fact that customer service didn't have much if any knowledge, the fact that their lasers appear to only have a deliberately short lifespan. Never once, not once, have i had a problem with Microsoft, they have always been very helpful and insightful with everything, so maybe certain people need reality checks. There is a reason why Microsoft are suing Sony for all the rumours about the PS3 being SOOOO much more powerful and there is a good reason why Microsoft are going to win, and it isnt just cos they have the richest man on the planet in charge

INFO GATHERED FROM LONDON'S www.threespeech.com event with Phil Harrisson (December 12th 2006)

Playstation 3 european launch within the first 2 weeks of March 2007, as explained to me, Sony's financial year ends on the 3rd week of March and therefore they want to launch before the next finanacial year begins. Judging that UK consoles always release on a friday expect the european launch on either the 2nd or 9th of March. Though a strong hint was that they are hoping to drop the playstation 3 on the 3rd day of the 3rd month (march 3rd).

On the same day as playstation 3's euro launch SCE are to distribute there march firmware update with features including:

multi-tasking (included will be audio/video conferencing while browsing the xmb and its features/ gameplay).
new xmb display options
new animations for audio playback.
new photo album options.
playstation store auto ressume
psp remote play advanced access option (so that you can have access to your ps3's content anywhere that has a internet connection)

Firmware will be constantly updated, with the view of a tv tuner and tivo like service to be available in the 3rd quater of 2007.

Also it is hoped that the same week as the euopean launch of the system will also see the worldwide launch of the ps3's HDip Camera (specifications to be announced at a later date). In terms of other accessories, Sony dont see it as a necesity to manufacture playstation branded headsets, keyboards or mice, as put to me by Jonathun of SCE's threespeech.com 'Third party companies can offer these accessories to the consumer at a price which SCE could not compete'.

A extension to the Sony online store will also make its debut in march. Titled 'Sing Store', PS3 owners will be able to purchase songs for there 'Sing Star' kareoke programme from a slew of artists and will also be given the option to view the songs purchased as music videos via the video playback option within the xmb.

In terms of the european online store, while still being extremley vague, a spokesman for SCE europe was able to explain that Sony would have no defense if they were to charge the european consumer more than in other regions as there are no extra costs on digital distribution as apposed to a product with packaging etc. So expect a $15.00 download to cost people in the UK around £6.50.

other notes-

PS3 will be sold at £425 or lower, meaning we could have it cheaper then the previousley stated price.
Dont expect to see 20GB models available in europe.
No VGA cables to be released.
No plans to make RSX available to Linux OS, due to security issues.
A service to reserve your playstation online id will be up and running this weekend or next.
