10 million youth team: 1.4 million Messi?

what????? What is the point of paying that much money for a youth team when for that money you can just buy Messi, Ronaldo, Pique, Essien, Xavi, Kaka, Drogba...with the same money you spend on a youth team?????????? I really hope i am missing something.

Not just youth team either... the best team doctor you can buy - 5 million. Cristiano Ronaldo - 1 million.. Really? Lets see do i spend my money on a 5 million dollar goalkeeping coach...or do i buy Messi, Ronaldo, old fat ronaldo, ronaldinho, and david beckham.

This is with a default team with a 3 million dollar budget. I started one with Edited Arsenal with a 130 million dollar budget and the player salaries were much better. Messi and Ronaldo were over 8 million. So the value of players fluctuates depending on your budget. If you start off with a 3 million dollar budget do the top players salaries go up as you get more money? Either way it's still dumb that the goalkeeping coach has a higher salary that the best players in the world.

I've just finished my 3rd Season with Fulham, won the Prem and didnt want to change my team to much but thought I'd go for 1 or 2 big name players, went for Messi who agreed to speak to me but Barca wanted £99mil and Messi wanted £26mil a year which was about the same as my whole teams yearly salery... ridiculous.

I also invested £5mil (lvl 4) into the youth team for the first 2 season and £10mil (lvl 5) for the 3rd season and the highest reated player it gave me for the new season was a bloke rated 43, absolute waste of money!

Is this a joke? Seriously? The "market price" that appears in the players, isn't the real one. Gareth Bale was showing 2.9mil, tried to sign him, they asked for 35mil. Now his market price is 3.5mil. Pjanic as well, his "market price" was 2.3, Valencia bought him for 46mil, now his "market price" is 4.6mil. See where I'm going? It's like this since Pes 10, market price isn't transfer price, how come you guys don't know that? :shocking:

Plus, Lv5 youth squad is always worthy. You guys just are not patient. Hell, with a Lv4, I got Henry and Deco reborn (Didnt buy them, I don't want obvious future stars), a guy named Varga (17 years old, started 58 overall, now he's at 65 with 90 dribble accuracy and 88 passing), and someone named Baichler (73 overall at 18 years old, has "Classic nº10".).

You guys need to be alot more patient.

I just promoted an 18 year old cb to the first team, he's rated 81. I'm playing as Roma btw default team. And i got him with level 4 youth team, just upgraded it to level 5.

I hear it's very easy to successfully buy players on FIFA...

Got to agree with Raykion though. I much prefer trying to find that hidden gem within the game because once you've nurtured an unknown youngster into a very good player, there's definitely a bond there.

I remember on one of the older PES games developing Baumjohann from Schalke 04 into a brilliant AMF/SS/CF. I loved every bit of it, and even today when I hear his name, it brings a smile to my face.

I don't think I've ever just punted for a world class player like Ronaldo, Messi etc, as it'd just become far too easy and mundane. I like a bit of a grind, as it increases the longevity of the master league and the struggle helps you appreciate the success more.

The same goes for reborns and classic players, it almost feels like cheating to me. Other names I recognise as fantasy Konami players irritate me also, e.g. Shimizu, Schwarz etc. All relatively cheap youngsters that are guaranteed to develop into world class stars, not because of their potential but because they're fantasy players to an extent, and it feels like a cop out in my opinion so I try not to use them.

Off the topic really this is, but Hunter im guessing you've started or done a season on ML with the default teams? If so what difficulty did you play on? As im on proffesional atm, and im finding it hard tbh. Probably because im bad at the game like! haha.

I play on professioneL. I win matches like 3-4 to 0 but then when I go to top player I can only barely win matches ;D

just finished my second season...i just won the treble :D
i play on professional, and win 90% of my games, but quite often i have to grind out results. when i'm stuck and need a goal my tactic is just use quick wide players to run down the touchline and drill in a low cross for a player to tap-in.

Won't touch pro level as its a piece of piss. Top player all the way despite the annoying AI.

As for investing in the youth team, bearing in mind they are all fakes and regens I agree its not worth it - but - being a purist, if I'm using someone like Stoke City I'm not going to go out and buy Messi. Too unrealistic for me. I'd rather go hunt out a real diamond in the rough, develop him and then sell him on a couple of seasons down the line for a fat wedge of cash.

Thats the true longevity of the game.

I think the Market Price determines how much the player would want for salary (when they renew the contract). I noticed that the amount they request (for salary) is very close the their market price. E.g. During contract renewal, Messi's market price is 12 mil, he is requesting 12 mil for his salary.

It's kinda fun developing players. Make sure you have a good coach that specializes in Youth development and you'll be fine

I turned Ruskin(original youth player) from a 68 rating to a 76 overall rating in 2 1/2 yrs, Paliermi is close to 90 and is only 19:shocking:, I signed Cooper the goalie from the youth team and he's currently like 74 despite getting no PT and not being on the team for so long.
