Player likeness is much improved. They actually look just like the real players now unlike last year where they're more like a child's drawings of their favourite players. Still not where Konami's at but EA's getting closer. Presentation is fantastic. Real coaches are a nice touch and they seem to exhibit the same behaviours as well. The demo is way too short to dissect the gameplay but I'm liking it so far. 199 countries to choose from, lots of new modes, online world cup tournies, improved graphics and gameplay. I'd say all that justifies a full price and I don't really understand everyone's complaints. The world cup deserves a stand alone game and this year's game seems like the only one worth buying out of all the other world cup games ever made. It's just not the same when it's a Fifa side show.

So we should pay £40 for FIFA 10, £40 six months later for a World Cup game including the national teams they refuse to put in FIFA 10 to milk money from us and then a further £40 for FIFA 11 because they refuse to put all the national teams and club teams into one game and purposely hold back improvements in order to ensure they can release a game every 6-12 months?

The graphics, the coaches and various other improvements were available for FIFA 10 and I know that because its a clear tactic used by EA over the last ten years with virtually all of their games. They start with all of the features included and then take them out to ensure a game doesn't make a leap they consider too big, simply enough to consider the purchase of the next game in a series important enough.

I am astonished by your post.

What's annoying are the "player cut scenes" being labeled an improvement, when these exact scenes were included in FIFA 09's Ultimate Team mode, then subsequently removed in time for FIFA 10's release.

The same goes for the 09 UT substitutions too, which were different than the game itself.

It's alright, but I won't be buying it. Especially not for more than £20. I think once the road to world cup mode (or whatever it's called this time) is completed, there is much more worth doing. Personally, that's the only thing I'm looking forward to.

The gameplay seems to be too quick and a little more rigid (or less fluid). I'll pop into a store and play the full version before I make a definitive decision as to whether I'll purchase it. If I do, it definitely won't be for more than £20.

I must admit, I quite like the demo. I didn't buy Fifa 10 because I thought the demo was total dump, but I'm quite impressed by this offering. If you change the gameplay speed down to 'Slow' the game does play quite nicely. The presentation, graphics and animations are also pretty slick. The AI is still fairly bad as always, even on world class difficulty. They always just seem reluctant to shoot!! Either way, it's quite a bit better than Fifa 10.

I agree that £40 is a bit steep for what is essentially Fifa 10.33. But, considering that I have no plans to buy Fifa 11, I might pick this up if I see if cheap somewhere.

I got FIFA 10 and PES2010, and have to say I stopped playing FIFA about December, but am still going with PES.

However, the PS3 demo of this looks very good, in my opinion. The choice of gameplay speed is good, and playing it in slow mode feels much more genuine than previous FIFA's and PES's. Also, the graphics seem to have been improved, even little things like the pitch grass. And the atmospherics are spot on in the demo and capture that carnival feel very well.

A full price purchase does seem steep. However, with credit I have, I can pick it up for £28 in ShopTo.net which is tempting.

Anyone know of anybody's release prices? Not sure whether to pre-order from ShopTo and get it delivered a day or two earlier than release date (as per the usual fab service from ShopTo), or wait until delivery day and hope that Morrisons, Asda, Tesco or anyone else have a sub-£30 release price.

My nephew and I are 7 games in the quals with Wales. We're on legendary/6min halves.

I haven't played alone yet, but my mate reckons the game is harder than FIFA 10. I think it's harder to score, for sure, but possibly easier to defend, as I'll note below. The fact we can have one of us controlling the player passing the ball and another making a forward run helps.

Our record is P7, W6, D1 - which includes a double over Germany. 2-1 away, 2-0 at home (two Koumas corkers in that one) and we drew the first game with Russia 2-2 after Davies scored a 90th minute equaliser.

But, they're the only goals we've conceded in the group, which I'm surprised by as we couldn't defend for shit in FIFA 10, but then, I didn't play 4-5-1 on that game...

In the last group game we played, we somehow beat Azerbaijan 1-0 away, despite them dominating the game and missing a number of glorious chances.

The group table, as it stands is;

Wales 19pts
Germany 10pts
Russia 10pts

We have 3 games left, Germany and Russia have 4 ...and also have to play each other again. By the way, I fucking LOVE the score updates and marked out when Liechtenstein picked up their only point of the group so far IN Germany.

Our remaining games are Russia (Home), Finland (Away) and Liechtenstein (Away...I think). If we pick up four points, we're guaranteed to be on the plane to SA, regardless of what the others do in their matches. Nice.

I picked this game up yesterday (traded in Assassin's Creed II and Fight Night Round 4, which took £15 off the price for it).

I haven't started a World Cup campaign yet but intend to soon. So far, I've just been playing with different teams online, and right now I'm especially loving using Sweden, Germany, and Ghana online. I'm loving the huge selection of countries to choose from.

The graphics are easily more impressive than those in FIFA 10, and after a long play last night the gameplay in this is growing on me aswell.

One thing I don't particularly though, which EA really need to look at changing; there's no option to have extra time and/or pens after 90 minutes. This'll be because the games have been programmed as group-stage matches.

It'd be nice if EA gave the option to choose in unranked matches, it's a real letdown that I can't have a penalty shootout with a mate to decide a game, it's quite astonishing when you look at the hype they've put on the new penalty-kicks.

So far, I'm impressed.

I tell you whats not funny, fifa world cup, just llost a game 3-2 to france on world class with italy, im not that great at these games anymore cos i dont have the time to hammer them like i used to, but this game was so fucking annoying, simply because the same old crappy gameplay from fifa 10 has reared its head.

What fucks me off about this game is the CPU AI, its fucking jokes, the AI ping pongs it about and hardly ever misplaces a pass, check the pass stats after a game, its insane de rossi for instance making 25/26 passes and the fact i completed 89% of my passes as a whole, that doesnt seems realistic to me especially seeing as most of the teams i have played against have done this as well.

The CPU still bulldoses you off the ball and the game against france was rediculous, with Anelka running around like a headless chicken chasing players like crazy.

Too little error in the passing, its fucking laser guided still.

CPU AI still does these perfect crosses.

CPU AI is rediclously open to counter attack which leave one on one's

Not convinced about the goal variety.

Maybe im being unfair a bit here, but people were speaking about this in the same breath as pes 6, right now, i cant see that shit, the individality is not there i can do pirlo like passes with cheillini.

Going past players is still poor.

I was able to barge Players off the ball with pirlo and anyone who watches italian football knows that a load of bullshit straight away.

I caught Nicolas Anekla with Barzagli in a one on one.

Keepers are shit when facing crosses, my keeper just stood there whilst the ball went over him.

Defenisve AI is shit, my cb moved away from henry alllowing him to score a 90th minute winner (typical fifa CPU AI bollocks)

Right now, not that impressed, its prolly better than fifa 10, but personally, i enjoyed the demo more, i think its because EA ramped up the CPU AI pressure for the final game.

I might play more later, but right now, this is a waste of money imo.
Here you are, Berry.

Played Czech earlier on pro diffculty, was Holland, the amount pressure they put on me on the last 5, 10 mins was mind blowing.

Still managed to win 2-0, Robben volley and RVP header in the opening 10 mins.

It feels pretty much exactly like FIFA 2010 to me. Keep in mind I haven't played FIFA in about 2 moths, so my memory might be a little fuzzy, but it's clear that any improvements made were made to the presentation and little else. The new penalty system is a nice touch. I had a few in the practise arena and thought "This is a piece of cake" it wasn't until I got one in the full game and realised there was no marker to place where you wanted the ball to go and I ended up doing a John Terry.

I also managed to play it at a friend's on his SDTV and it felt ridiculously fast. Like, breakneck flipping fast, even on slow which I always play it on. I could barely keep up. That could just be me being used to HD now though. I had the same problem with PES 2008 I think it was.

I really want this game, but I feel cheated and ripped off to have to pay 35-40 quid for it. Hoping for someone like Tesco to do it for £25 or something...

I agree, I also think it's a mistake by EA. A £30 price point would make it more far more susceptible to impulse purchasing, I can only imagine it will drop closer to the World Cup.

Just picked it up while at tesco. M'eh, if it's shit i'll just trade it in towards Red Dead Redemption in a few weeks time.
