A possible Way of getting photoshop edited images in on to kits?

I've been messing around with the eyetoy and PS3 to do scans of faces and kits....Obviously the scan looks like total dogshit.....So I then decided to copy all this image data on to a USB stick... I then opened the images (PNG files) in photoshop and replaced the rubbish Liverpool kit scan I had with a proper photo from the internet.. Then I re-saved the PNG file with exactly the same name...

Anyhow, so I loaded this back on to the PS3 in the game data section, loaded pro evo up and went to editing. Then on the kit option I chose load scan, and amazingly the really good image I saved over the poor eyetoy scan appeared!! Hooray you might think, but when I clicked OK to put it on the kit, it somehow still remembered the old scan and put that on the kit instead.. Bugger.

So I then deleted the pro evo edit mode save data (on the PS3 game data menu), and restarted the game. But it still did it... This leads me to believe that the main pro evo data save file also remembers kit scans (the game has 2 main saves files, game data and edit data). So what I'm going to do is delete all of my pro evo save files except the scanned image files. This way it cant remember the old scan I made. Then I'll start the game up and it will obviously start a fresh, but the image files should still be there to load. When I've done it I'll let you lot know, but I'm pretty hopeful this is a way of getting hi-res photoshop images in to the game...

If you followed all that then great. If you havnt got image editing software on your PC then your pretty screwed basically!

I did the same. I tried to edit the .png file but its the wrong file. the file that is the picture is the .bin file. thats what the ps3 is reading.
the .png file is just a thumbnail pic.
And I dunno what program you can use to edit a .bin file

Good news

This is all good news!
Ive been messing around with it a bit myself, trying to get images into the game with no eye cam..
As i have yet to succeed, could you pleace tell me how the images are saved on the ps3? what the folders and images are called etc..

Im sure if i can duplicate that using photoshop and then a memory stick to copy it to the ps3, i can make photos from the pc without even having a ps3 cam! i hope so anyway! :)

deathshead your method sounds as if there's something to it...I reckon if you keep at it you might be on to something so good on you:D and keep us up to date:)

It's proving harder than I 1st thought.

The files I have on my USB Pen are JPEG then saved onto my PS3 Hard drive as JPEG but when I go to scan face when editing a player, it says no data/pictures to load :realmad:

Do they need to be changed from JPEG to a different format?

Can someone please figure this out! :D

I assume the image data is stored in the bin file, however i dont think it is a regular bin image file as i coudlnt extract it with magiciso or burn it with nero. Definatley worth looking further into it though as thats almost certainly the way forward

I have been trying the same thing since Friday night, as soon as I realised what the save file actually saves I got on the case. The PNG is nothing but an icon for the saved image, and the other 2 files give nothing away as to what sort of format the .bin file is hiding.

If we can find out a way to get these files open we will be laughing. Perhaps it may even support transparencies and we can maybe get each image to cover just the sponsor and badge of say, 4 clubs each. That would allow us to have 32 clubs. Enough to cover the premiership.

All i can work out so far is this:

The .bin Files are ALWAYS 256KB per file.

I have been trying to work out which files best fit within this size range and the best i came up with was a .png.

I tried the obvious of renaming the extension and trying to open in Photoshop but they all came up as corrupt data.

Now im not too technical at files and stuff so I am going to have to patiently wait until someone can work out the magic behind these files, but the .bin files are definately the way to go.

try saving the pics as a tiff, png, bit map, and gif. one of them is bound to work

Tried them all, no joy so far. There has to be something to do with the header that the PS3 uses for the file. I dunno about hex editing but perhaps there is something there?

i have an idea on how to edit 8 teams rather than just 4.. i havent been able to try becuase of having a xbox 360..but i was thinking that when using photoshop to edit the kits you could try to make the background of the kit transparent and just include the manufacturer, sponsor and club emblem..then possibly you could use the template for home and away kits as there are no colours to the kit..could someone give this a go and see if it works

cheers

This as already been posted somewhere else, and the problem is that the colour of the sponser isnt always the same for both home and away kits (liverpool away kit is white home sponser colour is white)

for liverpool we could use the black 3rd kit which also uses white the same as man u red/black still struggling with chelsea and arsenal tho (3rd kits have white)but teams like portsmouth have white lettering H/A, what i'm saying basically we could implement 3rd kits if the teams 2nd isnt the same, not great i know but means we have a few more kits in the game.
