Hey JMZ, are you currently working on a new formation or are you still very happy with your latest Barca style tactic? If you get a chance could you please leave some feedback on using your tactics against human opponents. I used to love to read your stories about how you used your formations in gaming sessions against your mates. It would be brilliant if someone could provide you with a blank PES style pitch as a template for your formations. Do you just need a picture of a blank PES style pitch? I may be able to get it!

I mean't what I said about the formation thread, I'm always looking for ways to gain an upper hand and although I spend time adjusting my formation and individual player instructions I'd never spent any time with 'in-game' formation changes. There is a lot of useful stuff in there, thanks for the tips.

Has anybody experimented with using alternate formations in mid game not just to switch overall tactics, but to actually actively create space and change runs, etc?

For example, place 3 CF's tight inside the boxe with a fairly defensive midfield consisting of a DMF or two and CMFs. Then when possession is won back, switch to alternate where the CF's spread out to become wingers, one comes back out in midfield, and your midfielders become AMF's to attack through the holes. I've tried this tactic with some success, but I don't really know enough to nail it...

One thing I do know, from playing with 2-4 human players at the same time on a single team, is that humans are able to draw markers and create space much more effectively than computer players are, who seem a little more narrow in their movement. Wondering if there's a way to basically mimic good movement using alt formations...

no offence taken. you made fair comments. but i do know some of me mates checks my teams out to gain an edge. the competition is fierce. and yeah mate i do use subtle changes to create runs and stuff. depends who i'm playing. i play ml pretty deep. and knock it up a notch for the lads. they're good.

random tip. apply high defence to skillful forwards to make them drop back when you lose the ball thus getting them involved in the build up when you get it back. good for a deep midfield or a flat 4 midfield with 2 cmf and 2 smf. then have a counter attack alternative when the pace ups, leaving the forwards upfield.

JMZ are you still mainly using that Barca style tactic for PES6 or have you developed a new tactic?

9 times out of 10 i'll use some kind of 4.3.3. sometimes a 4.4.2. depends who's fit. if i can field my strongest side its 4.3.3. i can't post any images cos i'm browsing on my mobile.

JMZ do you use anything from the simple settings menu such as side attack, behind backline, defensive, etc? Is the Formation A of your recent tactic just the exact same as the classic brazil formation or have you made slight changes? Do you have an advanced formation which you always use against your mates in PES6? I got the sense that your latest barca tactic is designed for use against the A.I computer opponents! I am really not enjoying PES6 at all compared to all the previous PES games. I always enjoyed being good at defending and then hitting my mates with a slick counter attack. I thought that everything would be good again when you & observer would come up with some formations for the game but I still hate this game. I really hope Konami go back to the more PES5 style defensive approach for PES7! Also I have got a proper PES formation template for you which I could send to you if you give me your email address! It is the actual Edit Position template which i used as it will be even more accurate when trying to recreate your formations. I hope you will be able to use it as it would make it alot easier for us users to recreate your formations with complete accuracy!

cheers pimp. you're a great follower of the thread. to be honest i would use the same formation whether it's human or cpu. i know your pain defending, i just focus on scoring more than the other team. you are going to concede goals if your opposition are decent. but then i'm a toon fan and thats how they have always tried to play. keegan (93-95ish) is the spiritual manager of my ml team! score goals!

Yeah I can respect your attacking mind set! Its not your formation its just that i find it too hard to defend in PES6! Did that picture work ok for you? I hope you will be able to use it as a template for your formations in the future! This is the only thread i look at on the forum and had you not created it, my PES days would have been alot more boring and my ability and success against my mates would have been significantly less!

i haven't seen it yet mate. i'm browsing on my phone and its text only. but next time i get chance on the net i'll surely use it. if its a screen capture from the game it'll be perfect. gonna do a valencia layout soon. i used them last night for a 3-0 win against my mate. lot of potential there and they aren't in the book. its really good to hear that i have helped inspire you to keep playing. maybe we can play in the future.

Its just a picture i took with my mobile phone but then i edited it on my computer so that it looks better! I think the quality should be good enough to use as a template for your formations! I have ordered the official guide and i look forward to see if there is anything in it which can help me! I look forward to seeing and trying your new valencia formation if you decide to post it! I also enjoyed hearing from Observer and trying his formations but it looks like he has not returned to this thread with anything new for PES6! To be honest i dont ever really play master league or against the computer, i get more enjoyment from playing my mates all the time! Each of us take PES sessions very seriously! I once went on about a 30 or 40 match unbeaten run on WE10 which was my best considering they are very good players and we play 30min matches! If you ever have any really good formations which are successful against your mates, I hope that if you have time you will continue to share them with us! Thanks JMZ!

JMZ, I am sure this will save you alot of time in the future! If you used this it would mean that naytime you have a good formation or a couple of good formations, you could just easily and quickly design it with this creation template designed by Violent.

i can't actually see it, but if it is what i think it is, it will be very useful. i tried to make a flash app that had moveable positions and stuff, but when i tried i realised i didn't have a clue how to use flash and the tutorial i was using wasn't as simple as it looked. can't wait to get a look at it. is it a clever flash app?

The flash application looks brilliant, it will save a lot of time.

I tried to use it but unfortunately it is not working for me.

I always wanted to chime in with couple a of formations that create havoc and have been working flawlessly with me. When a formation is right, you start to see things youve never seen before in this game....

I just did not have the time to put it in a decent format!

just wanted to jump in and say thanks to jMz for putting the obvious in front of me and helping me out. i had never before thought to have formation variations within the gameplan to switch on the fly. it has really put more opportunities on the field for me, which is a god-send because i had been struggling mightily having jumped from WE8 to WE2007.

i typically run a 3-5-2 with 2 DMs, 1 CM & 2 AMs working the wings, but it wasnt cutting it. i now have a complimentary 3-4-3 and a defensive 3-5-2 to switch to when the game calls for it. it mucks up the computer quite a bit to be switching every once in a while during the game!

so, thanks again and keep up the good work guys. always nice to lurk in this thread for more ideas and formations, especially when my ML team starts taking form.
