Calling all gamers.
I may potential buy this game for my brother this Christmas. He's only recently required an Xbox 360 you see, and he's playing through certain game series. He's really into the Assassin's Creed games at the moment, but is looking to soon get into Batman I think.
There's only one problem; Arkham Asylum has seemingly become as valuable as gold thesedays. I could swear the Game of The Year editions were being sold widely for around the £10-14 mark just this summer. Now, however, prices have doubled. I just don't understand it.
I'm just hoping for a little bit of help here in the search. I've looked on Amazon, Play, Shopto, GAME. I'd ideally like new, however, I don't mind second hand as long as the item is in great condition.
I'm hoping that by the time he plays through the remaining Assassin's Creed games, and Arkham Asylum - that Arkham City will have dropped in price, making the purchase easy for him (or me, for him) at some point.
This may be an archaic suggestion, but have you actually tried going in store? This has the added benefit that you can trade one of your old games to save a bit more money.
There's not many gaming stores around here; Grainger Games and Blockbuster. We both know Blockbuster won't have the GOTY edition priced reasonably, and Grainger now seem to base their prices off of Blockbusters and then knock a pound off, just so they can advertise their store as "the cheapest in town".
GAME and HMV would be my next best bet, however it'd require me to head up to Newcastle for them - and taking into account transport costs, it's not exactly going to be cheaper than £13 for the GOTY edition in mint condition with it's original lenticular sleeve.
I "never" trade games in either. I'd rather cut my own balls off than be given short change for a game. I usually list any games I'm selling on eBay, as there is a lot of people who visit the site, who are more than willing to pay over the odds. I'm not the type to complete a game within a week too (I don't like feeling pressured - I enjoy savouring every nook and cranny of each game I play), meaning by the time I've finished it, trade-in prices will have plummeted to a tag even more facepalm-worthy.
Thanks though, I always appreciate an alternative perspective, because the skies know, mine sometimes need to be filtered.
