Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4/X1/PC)

The developer that made Arkham a household name is back. Rocksteady Studios' Arkham Asylum innovated with the freeflow combat system and stalking gameplay in 2009, and the team blew it all out to an open world in 2011's Arkham City. Rocksteady is hoping to raise the bar even higher on what will be its final Arkham game. Set after the events of Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight may just end the Dark Knight's journey.

As you've probably guessed from the cover imagery, the Batmobile is finally a core element of the gameplay. An entirely new area of Gotham City, far larger than Arkham City, has much wider streets to accommodate the new driving gameplay that is designed to integrate smoothly with Batman's gliding and grappling traversal. Batman chases down super villains Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and more.

Arkham Knight will release later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We've got 14 action-packed pages loaded with the first details and a whole month of exclusive content here on gameinformer.com. Get a sneak peek at what's in store in our coverage trailer below.

SOme details for you fags

- You can call on the batmobile mid-glide by targeting a spot you want it to drive to
- The Batmobile pretty much affects everything you hit in some fashion, not just certain walls
- You use L2 mid-glide to use the line launcher
- The use of gadgets while gliding produces a slo-mo sequence
- The batmobile has a boost function
- The boost function refuels when you drift around corners
- Rocksteady isn't talking about whether or not you can upgrade it

Played it for about 3 hours. Wasn't really feeling it at first, I was thinking franchise fatigue, but now I'm sure it's because the opening half hour has been completely shown in various videos the past few months. Hell, they even showed the opening cinematic at E3.

Combat and stealth is slightly more complex than previously, I've pretty much stayed exclusive to the punch and counter buttons since I'm not sure if I have the other moves unlocked. Batmobile combat is pretty repetitive and bland, the driving is decent though. A nightmare in Riddler's challenges however :poorchoice:

Nice to see Joker incorporated in a sensible way. His banter has been great thus far.

Arkham Knight has to be a known character. I would say he's a previous Robin, but Robin, Nightwing & Red Hood are all in the game..

The appearance of Man-bat scared the shit out of me

Some pretty major spoilers below so only read when you're very far into the story or just don't care:

The reveal of Arkham Knight being Jason was an anti-climax and very predictable. I was hoping the flashbacks of his death would be Red Hood related (since he's DLC I thought he may crop up in the story too) but I imagine people with zero Batman knowledge will be able to put 2 and 2 together early on and figure he's Jason.

Two vehicle boss battles :poorchoice:

First one sucked complete balls but the second was tense and fun. Who the hell thought it'd be a good idea to include stealth vehicle sections where you have to continually creep up behind a car.

Still waiting for my copy to be delivered, should be here within the hour! Got to drive to Heathrow at 5 though and won't be back until tomorrow :(

DON'T. http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3as1ht/do_not_buy_arkham_knight_the_game_comes_with_a/

Edit: If you are getting it to PC. I guess other platforms are performing normally.

And this is why console > PC. Sure you don't get the high end graphics and frame rate but at least for the most part you get a solid working game.

I'm not going to re-start this, but if you are willing to make a rule out of exceptions, Arsenal is 100% shit because they've had shit players in every position.

As somebody that has never played any of these games, would you consider the gameplay similar to AC? In terms of battling?

Yes it's similar to Assassin's Creed combat (the older games at least), just so so much better.

Just finished the main story (I think) :banderas:

I say I think because I still have to finish 6 side missions to activate Knightfall. There was no credits or anything after defeating Scarecrow so I dunno.

Main complaint is that they've managed to make the main focus of the game Joker again. Despite him being dead. But the part at the end playing as him was incredible. The Joker themed Batmobile, the FPS section gunning down other villains, and the Weeping Angel-esque Batman statues :bravo:

Hopefully there's another Red Hood moment because him just saving Batman with no conversation seems unresolved.

For the love of God, PC Gaming is still better. Just because a developer decided to do shit it does not make PCs worse!

And for reference, when this happened/happens in consoles, developers do nothing because you "eat and shut up". This just show the power PC Gamers have, and how we refuse to be ruled by money-grabbing companies. We vote with our wallets.

And Sweey, for all matters Batman AK does have better quality in consoles. What I wonder is how does it make a console more powerful (as said by many). For comparison...

A fearful man driving a Ferrari @ 50km/h is overtaken by a regular lad going 80km/h on his Polo. Does this mean the Ferrari is worse/slower?

Optimisation. One set of hardware vs many thousands of combinations. I'm pro-choice :sweey:
